Chapter Five

We entered into the room and Trent switched on the light. The apartment looked cozy, not to mention expensive. The kitchen counters were tiled with black marble and the cupboards dark brown. Everything were top of the line appliances. The living room was filled with black leather couches and a flat screen tv the hung from the wall. I had no idea where I was but at this moment, I didn't care. As long as it wasn't my house. With him. Trent disappeared down the hallway, leaving me on my own. My body was beyond numb. I was shivering uncontrollably. Minutes later he appeared again but with clothing in his hands. "Come" he demanded. I couldn't move. Even though his voice was so commanding and stern. My legs felt like steel and not to mention that I didn't want to mess up the gorgeously tiled floor. Trent sighed heavily before he grabbed my hand and pulled me behind him. We entered into his bathroom. He dropped my hand and turned on the water in the shower. I watched as steam from the hot water began to cloud the room. "Take your clothes off, leave them in that bin" He pointed to the hamper in the corner near the sink "and then change into these". He hands me the clothes he held in his hands. Before he exited out of the room he turned back to me "If you're not out in less than 20 minutes, I will come back in here and assist you, willingly or by force. Now hurry up and get out of those wet clothing before you catch a cold." His words sent chills through my body. After he closed the door, I hurried out of my clothing and placed them in the bin as instructed. I need to remember them before I leave. The thought was unwelcome. I didn't want to go home. With a weak sigh, I stepped into the warm shower. I walked into the living room once more. This time I felt much better. The clothing were two sizes too big but i made them work. My hair was still wrapped in a towel but other than that i was completely dry. Trent sat in the couch with the tv remote in hand. When i entered, his eyes met mine. He rose to his feet and entered into the kitchen. When he returned, he handed me a yellow tea cup. I looked down at the brown liquid in my hands and wondered if it was save to drink it. What if he was trying to drug me or like... you know... poison me... I did say bad things about him... at school... Trent rolled his eyes. "Don't flatter yourself" I pouted at his words but took a sip of the warm liquid. Hot chocolate. I took another welcomed sip and walked over to the couches. Moments later Trent sat down on the living room table in front of me with cotton in his hand. Not knowing how to react, I stopped breathing. He wiped the cotton over my cheek which stung. "OUCH!" i yelled, pushing his arm away from my face. "what's on that?" "Disinfectant. Stay still" He warned "No. Go away." I was about to stand up before his knees held mine together firmly. I couldn't move too much because of the tea in my hands so i started to move my head. Helplessly trying to avoid his hand with the cotton. His other hand suddenly grabbed my face and held it still. I closed my eyes in anticipation to what was about to come. "Stop being a baby" I could hear him smiling. It pissed me off. Before i could say anything, he began to clean the cut on my cheek once more. It was uncomfortable but i was glad when it was over. My heart began to beat faster as i realized that he was touching me. I was so scared of that he was doing that i wasn't aware of it before. I opened my eyes when he removed both is hands. My breath stopped at my throat because of his proximity... his hair was still damp from the rain. He had changed his clothes. He now wore a visibly worn out sweater that hung to his body and blue stylishly ripped jeans. He looked sexy. His green eyes were focused on the band-aid in his fingers. His mouth in a firm line, his jaw clenched. It's cute how focused he is. "I hope it's okay with your parents for me to be here." The silence wasn't uncomfortable. I just wanted to hear his voice. "I don't live with my parents" he murmured still keeping his eyes on the task at hand. "You live by yourself? Is that safe? how do you pay for all of this?" I was curious, it was obvious. When Trent finally peeled off the strips on the ends of the band-aid, he turned my face to the side to get better access. When his fingers touched my face once again, it sent electric shocks through me. "You ask a lot of questions." When he finished, he stood to his feet and left me again for the millionth time. I looked down at his white beater and his cozy sweat pants that i was now wearing. I nervously played with the string when i saw him return. He sat down on the couch across from me. "Seeing as how you've gained back your voice, we should head out" His eyes watched mine carefully. I continued to play with his pants string, avoiding eye contact. "What is it?" His voiced sounded concern and confused. I curled my bottom lip into my mouth and bit down on it nervously. "What?" It was obvious he was beginning to lose his temper. "I don't want to go home" I mumbled, avoiding his gaze. I could feel it burning through me. "Well you can't live here" he responded after what seemed like eternity. I snapped my head up and finally looked into his eyes. I placed the tea cup down on the table in front of me. "I'm aware of that" i snapped. He looked shocked. After a second it changed to amusement. Rolling my eyes at him i walked back to the front door where I left my shoes. I didn't even ask this guy to help me... I was fine in the rain... I heard him sighed "Sit back down" His tone was pissing me off. Who does this guy think he is? Just because he's good looking he thinks he can talk to people like that? Well not me! Before I could get both my Toms on fully, i could see his feet next to me. I straighted up and stood my ground, folding my arms against my chest. I had one shoe on and the other off. I was aware that i looked ridiculous. His hands reached towards my face. I froze as my heart began to pound. I closed my eyes. I couldn't believe i wanted him to touch me when a few weeks ago i despised him. I felt my hair fall against my shoulders and i opened my eyes. He was smirking at me. Embarrassment washed over me. Not only was i about to storm out of here with my hair in his towel but now he thinks i want him. "Clean your cup and sit back down. It's still raining outside." His voice made my body feel weak. He wasn't about to argue with me, i could see that. As he walked to the washroom with the towel in hand, i did as i was told. As i placed the yellow mug with the others, i noticed how organized everything is. Everything was in it's place. It was kind of scary if you asked me. I sat back down in the couch and waited from him to return. He took the remote off the couch and began to flip through the channels. I stared at him until he returned my gaze. His eyes making me feel nervous. "What?" he asked leaning back into his seat. "What were you doing outside in the rain?" "I could ask you the same thing." After a minute of silence i decided to tell him the truth. I wanted to talk about it and he was the only person here right now. "I didn't want to see my dad..." "Mhhm" he muttered as he continued to watch the television. I stared at him in disbelief. Normal people would ask why and try to get a little more information. "Don't you want to know why?" His beautiful eyes flickered to my face and then back to the television. "Not really". He placed his feet on the coffee table and continued to watch the screen. "One minute you're a complete gentlemen and then the next..." i murmured. "A gentlemen, huh? I thought i was only capable of being an ass" his eyes remain on the television I glared at him from my seat. He sighed and then turned his gaze to me. "You really like my attention, don't you?" he smirked I opened my mouth to say something, but it slipped my mind. As i open it again to say something else, he turned his attention back to the tv. Okay, maybe it is nice to have his attention. "Look, everyone have problems with their families. It's just how life is. Doesn't mean you should run out in the rain so you can catch hypothermia and die." He began to flick through the channels again. "You don't know what you're talking about" i snapped. "I'm not going to argue with you." Trent sighed his voice final I crossed my arms over my chest and angrily sat back in the chair. Why was i feeling frustrated? was it because i didn't want to see my actions as irrational? was it the fact that deep that i feel that he was right?... or was it that he wasn't paying any attention to me like he was earlier...? I pulled my feet up on the couch and held it to my chest. I used it to cover my face from his view, not that he was looking at me. "Stop acting like a child" he murmured after a while. After a minute of watching the tv and ignoring the person in front of me, i felt the intensity from his stare. "Put your feet down" I placed my feet back on the floor but kept my eyes on the tv "worried i'll ruin your couch?" "No" he answered simply I placed my hair to block him out of my side view. "Is this what you do when you don't get attention? you have a tantrum." I finally met his gaze, but my anger and frustration vanished. I began to chew on my bottom lip when the corner of his lips pulled up into a smirk. He looked down at his watch "It's almost midnight. I should get you home. Come" He stood to his feet and disappeared down the hallway. When he returned, he threw a sweater at me and put on his shoes. He waited surprisingly patiently for me to finally finish. _____ We pulled up into my driveway. Trent looked over at me from the drivers seat. "Time to go" "You don't have to be so rude" i murmured before i opened the door. I felt him grab a hold of my arm and pulled me back into the car. Even in the darkness his eyes were bright. "No more running out in the rain in the middle of the night" he ordered. Was he apologizing? This guy was really giving me a headache. I pulled my hand from out of his with no luck. His fingers tightened around mine. My heart began to pound harder as he did. "I mean it, Leigh" He knew my name?!? Why was it a surprise to me? was it because it sounded sexy coming out of his mouth... those lips... "Okay" i responded barely above a whisper When his hand released mine, i felt sad. I hurried out into the rain and closed his door behind me. Rather than driving off, the red BMW stayed in my driveway until i entered into the house. I ran up the stairs and into my room. "Where were you?" I heard my mom's voice enter into the room "do you have any idea how worried i was?" She wasn't yelling. She never yelled. Her voice was low and full of worry. I kept my head under my spread. I felt her sit on my bed beside me, pulling the hood from over my hair. Her finger began to caress my hair which was now horribly frizzy. "Nate was worried about you. Your father went out looking for you and hasn't returned. For five hours, he has been out in the rain looking for you ... where have you been?" when i didn't answer she continued. "I have been calling your phone... i thought something had happened. Leigh, are you listen to me?" "Mom, i'm fine. Please, i'm tired." i murmured under the sheet. "We will talk about this in the morning. You can not keep doing this. It has to stop" she rose from the bed and left the room. Few minutes later, i heard my door open again. I was up thinking about Trent and his his cute dimples. I felt small fingers touch me and i lift Nate into my arms. "Leigh where you go?" "No where" i whisphered to him as i pulled him closer to my body, kissing his forehead. It was 2:09 am when i heard my door open again. I stayed still, pertending that i was asleep. "Good night, sweetheart" My dad's voice whispered from the doorway Hearing his voice made me feel guilty that he was out in the rain for hours looking for me. I pushed it away and went back to sleep dreaming about green eyes.
