"How was your weekend?" Sean asked, running his fingers through his wet hair.
"Did you go outside?" I asked, moving away from him. His t-shirt was damp and his hair was darker than usual.
"Yeah. I had to run back to my car" he responded, pulling me closer to him again. I let out a small shriek as he shakes his wet hair in my face, pressing his cold body against me.
"Sean!" I laughed. I braced my hands against his body as I try to force him off me. "You're so gross"
Lauren made her way over to us and joined us at the table. She looked out the glass window that surrounded the cafeteria. "Sucks how we can't eat outside today" she murmured.
I finally got Sean's arms from around me. I looked out the window as well. It was pouring rain outside.
"Can I get a ride home today?" I asked Sean.
"If you don't mind waiting for me after school, sure" he assured me. He took my container of food from me without another word.
I placed my finger over my lips as I watched him eat. His eyes met mine again before he began to search his pockets.
I pushed myself up from the table before he got out his wallet. "I still have money from Friday".
As I go to turn around, I bump my head against someone's chest. Before I fell back, his arms reached out and grabbed my shoulders, steadying me. His eyes gazed down into mine.
My face began to heat up. He was still touching me. His face was serious and his lips were pressed together in a straight line.
"Don't you ever smile?" I murmured. Before I could stop myself, the words were already out of my mouth. I looked down at the floor instantly. His hands fell from my shoulders and into his pocket.
"Have you seen Xavier" Trent asked someone behind me
I could hear Lauren's voice, happier than usual. "He's in the gym"
"Thanks" he murmured before he walked away.
Realizing that my head was still down, I snapped it back up, hurting my neck.
"What was that?" Sean teased as he got up to stand in front of me. His smirk was evident.
"What was what?" I questioned before I ran off to buy food.
It was only a question. One that I shouldn't have asked, nonetheless. It wasn't my business whether or not he smiled. Maybe he was just a sour faced person. A Sexy one.
At least this time he didn't tell me to watch were I was going.
After I grabbed the usual, and a extra bottle of water for Sean, I headed back to the table.
"Is half the school still in the gym?" Sean asked Lauren as I sat down.
"Prom is almost here so they need to start making plans."
"It's only the end of January, don't we have a few more months left?"
She shrugged. As I place the water in front of Sean, he held my hands, running his thumb over my finger. "Why don't you ever smile?" he teases, mimicking my voice.
I grabbed my hand out of his and glared at him. "I don't even sound like that"
"Sound's like someone's developing the virus" Lauren smiled.
"I was only curious." I said, bring a spoon of yogurt to my lips.

As I entered into Business class, I was happy to see that no one was sitting in my seat. As I joyfully walk to the back of the class, I sat down.
As students started to make their way into class, Xavier made his way into the room.
Completely thrown off guard, I look at him puzzled. When did he take business, and where have he been since the beginning?.
Before I could get his attention, Pauline, the dark haired girl, called him over. As they talking inanimately for a while, his attention turned to me. He smirked as he made his way over to me.
"Do you need a ride after school today?" he asked as he reached my desk
"I already asked Sean to-" I began
"I'll take that as a yes" he interrupted. "What's your number?"
As I stare at him in confusion, I wrote my number down on a paper in my notebook and handed it to him. He took it and then exited out the classroom.
Pauline, of all people, looked at me and smiled. She walked over to me and sat in the seat beside me.
"You should be careful" she advised, pushing her hair over her shoulder "Xavier likes to play games with girls."
"Then why do you talk to him?" I murmured, giving her a dirty look
"I'm only trying to warn you. The both of them love to do competitions." she smiled, getting to her feet "and when I said both, I meant Xavier and Trent"
I stared after her, wondering if what she said was purely out of jealousy. But then again, she had nothing to be jealous about. I rolled my eyes.
As the class went by slowly, I unconsciously waiting for Trent to walk through the door. But he never did. When my phone vibrated in my pocket, I opened the text from an unknown number.
Meet me at the front of the school.
X
Assuming it's Xavier's number, I quickly saved it as the bell rang.

The rain was falling harder than it was in the morning. I stood inside the school watching all the cars go by. A silver Mercedes pulled up to the front of the school and honked. I ran outside, shading myself with by arms. I opened the passenger door and hurried inside, placing my bag at my feet.
"I live just down the street" I informed Xavier
As the car sped pass the direction of my house, I looked over at Xavier. One hand was on the steering wheel, the other on the radio. As he played with the dial, he looked up at me. "What's wrong?"
It was clear that I was panicking "Where are we going?"
"To get something to eat" He smiled
"I'm not hungry"
"Then you can watch me eat"
He had to be joking. I sat in the car as we sped down the highway. The sky was filled with dark clouds and small lightning bolts lit the sky occasionally. As we pulled into the drive way at McDonalds, I looked over at Xavier again. He was serious. What the hell!
"Are you sure you don't want anything?" he questioned
I just continued to look at him. When he finally gave up, he made his order.
"Why didn't you just drop me at home?"
He handed the money to the cashier at the window. "do you have something better to do?"
"Than to watch you eat? probably" I murmured. As I quickly remembered that I didn't cancel my ride with Sean, I pulled out my phone and sent him a message.
--
As Xavier finally pulled into my driveway, I unbuckled my seatbelt.
"I'll see you tomorrow" he smiled
I rolled my eyes as a smile appeared on my lips. "Goodbye"
As I got out of the car, he pulled onto the street and drove away. I hurried into the house.
As I drop my bag on the couch, I wondered where Nate was. Then he entered into my vision. My happy thoughts quickly left my mind and was immediately replaced by anger
"What are you doing here?" I muttered, unable to get my voice any higher
"Good to see you too, sweetheart" my dad smiled. His chestnut brown hair was comb back. No doubt he was coming from work. His light blue eyes were soft and calm.
"Can't you ever leave us alone?" I snapped. "Go home to your wife!"
"Leigh, your brother is in the other room" my mom snarled, coming to stand beside him "Play nice. You know Nathan gets worked up easily"
"So it's my fault I hate to see him right?" I bellowed. My father took a step towards me before I turned towards the door, opening it, and running outside.
"Where are you going? Leigh, come back here!" My mom called
"Leave me alone!" I shouted back as I took off down the street. I didn't know where I was going but I didn't care. As long as it wasn't here.
I walked for hours, not knowing where to turn with tears rolling down my face. The rain continued to pour down from the sky. The streets were darker that it normally should be for 6 pm. I don't know how long I was walking in the rain but I didn't want to stop. My clothes grew heavier as I continued to walk. The gust of wind sent chills down my spine, my body became colder.
When the open creek came into view and I saw the trees, I ran towards it for shade. As I passed a branch, it brushed against my cheek. I held my cheek in pain. As I looked at my palm, the sight of blood made my legs weak. I sunk to my knees, unable to hold back tears. Tears of anger, hate, rage, and pain. I lost track of how long I sat under the shades of trees and cried before I heard noises.
I curled myself up into a ball, grabbing my knees to my chest. I tried to warm myself as I shivered. Black combat boots came into my line of vision and I froze. As something was placed over my shoulders, I began to push it away. My teeth were knocking together and I couldn't find my voice.
"Stand up" a familiar voice spoke. It was calm and demanding.
I curled into a tighter ball as I rest my head on my knees. I just want to be left alone.
His arms gripped my shoulders and I was pulled unwillingly to my feet. Green eyes meet mines. Before I could pull out of his grip, he wrapped his jacket over my shoulders once more. This time it was tighter than before.
Before I could react, he took me into his arms, cradling me while began to walk. As he placed me into the passenger seat and closed the door, he walked over to the drivers side. I came face to face with Trent Logan. He placed the keys in the ignition and pressed the button to start the car.
"Where do you live?" he asked, his voice firm.
My body was quivering uncontrollably. I couldn't talk, my mind was blank.
Without another word, the car began to move.
