Gym time was a disaster. While everyone was enjoying themselves and creating magic circles I was stuck on the sidelines. I wasn't needed until a circle was created so others can try and hex me or some other bullshit.
Thankfully they were all harmless. Until it was Trixa's turn, aka my horrible roommate. She gave me an evil looking smile that had me questioning whether she was sane or not. As soon as I entered the middle she didn't hesitate to start, even when the instructor was explaining to her what he wanted her to do.
With an enchantment spewing from her mouth a dark purple mist rose around me. It slowly crept up my legs until it reached my waist. Small electric sparks shot out throughout the mist. I suddenly felt my skin singe and began to heat up.
Suddenly our instructor gasp in disbelief and just when he said, "Miss Trovoni! That spell is-", loud popping sounds shot all over my body causing rifts of pain shoot through me. Caught in total surprise I screamed out and tried to get away from the tiny little bursts.
I barely heard the laughter and panic go around as I try desperately to get the spell to stop attacking me but nothing I did worked. I crouched down wrapping my arms over my face and legs to prevent any damage from happening to my body. Then a loud voice boomed throughout the gym.
"LIBERO!"
Just as quickly the mist came, it completely vanished. I didn't move from my position. I kept my face hidden as tears fell freely. The mist may be gone but the pain wasn't. I could smell burnt fabric as my uniform was giving off steam.
"WHAT THE f**k IS YOUR PROBLEM?!"
Calen's voice was loud and very angry.
I could slightly hear the instructor sounding nervous and upset as well. He tried to use a stern voice against Trixa but no one could hear him over the sound of Calen's.
"It was an accident. I wasn't trying to harm her." Trixa didn't sound very apologetic at all.
"THAT'S SUCH BULLSHIT! YOU DID IT ON PURPOSE!"
"Now Mr. Millard, that's quite enough, the language please."
I lift my head to see Calen right up into Trixa's face. He was facing away from me so I couldn't see the look he was giving her. The girl cowered back from him looking frightened out of her mind. I try to wipe the tears from my face but they kept on coming as the pain was intensifying.
"Dude, back off..." Mike's voice faded when he saw the look on Calen's face. He lifted his hands and backed away into the crowd that had been created.
"Hey, are you alright?" A very gentle and soft voice said next to me. I look around to see Malikai kneeling next to me with concern on his face.
I couldn't say anything as he kept looking at me. He gently grabbed my arm and helped me stand. I winced at the pain that the movement caused. He didn't let go of me as he said, "We should get you to the infirmary before this gets any worse."
Normally I would be ecstatic that Malikai was giving me so much attention. Plus he was touching my arm! But the pain and the events that lead up to it overwhelmed everything else at the moment. We started walking when a dark shadow fell over the room.
A shiver went up my spine at the ominous feeling. The shadow quickly faded away after a split second than it arrived. I felt Malikai stiffen with his face slightly pale. Then out of nowhere Calen was by my side. He stared daggers at Malikai.
"I got it from here thanks." He nearly growled out.
Before any of us could say anything Calen bent down and picked me up into his arms. I gasped at the sudden pain. I felt him stiffen and his face softened when he looked down at the state I was in. When his gaze reached my tear streaked face another scowl replaced the softness.
He started walking and with each step the pain seemed to fade away from my body to an almost numb feeling. The walk to the infirmary was a long one and I was thankful that he took it upon himself to carry me.
I never realized how fit he was. He seemed to be carrying me with ease with no stress on his body what so ever. Since when did this guy gained muscles? I could feel every single one through our clothing. Realizing where my thoughts were going I felt my face heat up.
He walked down the hall in silence, not once looking back down at me. After a few minutes, as I was nearly falling asleep from the odd sense of warmth and comfort that surrounded me, he stopped dead in his tracks. I felt him sigh irritably.
"Why are you following us?" He asked, turning his head around behind him.
I was trying to look over his shoulder to see who he was talking too, but my vision was beginning to fade as exhaustion weighed my body down. Why couldn't I keep my eyes open? The warmth feeling swarmed through me like a blanket. I look back up to the boy holding me to see the annoyed look he gave to the other person.
"I want to make sure she's going to be okay." I heard a reply that sounded faint and far away.
I sighed deeply trying to force myself to stay awake. My sigh must have alerted Calen because the last thing I saw and heard before the blackness overtook me was his beautiful eyes showing an emotion I have never seen before and him whispering,
"Don't fight it Nessa, just close your eyes, I'll make sure you'll stay safe."
