Disowned

Blaze     “Take me home, please,” Idalia suddenly asked, when the twins left after the stare down. I noticed the tension between them and I was sure Idalia knew something about them that I didn’t know, and that she didn’t want me to find out.     “Are you sure? Don’t you want to spend more time with your brother and his family before you go home?”    A growl escaped her lips, and I raised my hands while my dragon growled back at her. Thora was not too happy either and she was blocking me out from reading her mind.    Idalia said her goodbyes to everyone in the throne room, but her eyes glowed as soon as she saw Dawn, who responded with the same glow on her eyes. It was some sort of communication as she nodded and continued with the celebration.     We walked outside and I offered to give her a ride, but she wanted to take off in a flight herself. She shifted as I looked at her in awe. Her beautiful and majestic creature was something otherworldly.     “Ready?” She asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.     “Ready, Princess,” I replied, a loud growl coming out of my lips as I shifted into my dragon.     “Show off,” she said before she took off and I followed right behind. We were flying into the sky on our way to Gargolian, where she would see her parents again after so many years. As we were heading over, I couldn’t stop the urge to blow some smoke on her, so I did.     “Jerk!” she squealed, flying higher and getting lost in the clouds. I laughed, but my laugh died down after she fell on my back.    “Sorry, are you feeling some heaviness?” she asked, mockingly. Thora was fun and wild, unlike someone else.    “You know I can read your mind, right? Don’t worry about Idalia, she’ll come around, just be patient,” she said, whispering the last words in my pointy ear, making me smile while letting out a content growl.    “Besides, you are big and intimidating. Try to understand.”    I could hear Idalia protesting inside of her while she got off my back and let herself drop. I dropped my height, trying to catch up to her, when she suddenly disappeared and landed on the ground where she was standing, looking at the distance and I realized we had arrived at her parent’s castle. Thora had let Idalia take over and she was just hesitant about walking in.    I shifted to my human form and stood next to her, my hand finding the small of her back and I felt her tense under my touch. It made me feel proud at how I was secretly affecting her. The fire would burn between us in no time, even if she denies it and sticks to loving her boyfriend.    “It’s time for you to go in, Idalia. They must know by now you are here. You are not hard to miss,” I said and she looked at me with an expression that surprised me. Gratitude. She was thanking me with her eyes for being here with her, and I was not going to leave her alone in this.     Meeting her parents after so many years was frightening her. I could see guilt in her eyes, but my hand found her cheek and she fluttered her eyes close, giving me that passion that was hidden inside of her.     “Would you go in with me?” she asked.    “Of course. Did you think I was going to leave you alone in this? Until you feel like you can stay alone, then I will be with you. Just want to make sure you are okay before I go back to my home.”    “You’re leaving me?” I could feel a bit of concern in her voice, making me smile.     “I have to check on my flock. My father counts on me to take as much responsibility, and finding you was just one of them.”    She nodded and I took her hand, feeling sparks in my body, but she pulled away quickly. Her eyes widened in shock, and I knew she felt them too. Sooner or later, she will forget about her boyfriend and be mine.    The guards saw us and they didn’t wait to open the doors, but they felt her aura and knew it was the princess. We were led to the throne room where we were told to wait for Mirabel and Godric.    “I am nervous. What if they hate me for leaving them, or for leaving my responsibilities as the queen?” she said, fidgeting with her fingers. I took her hand in mine and kissed her knuckles while my eyes glowed, and she met them with her glowing red eyes.     The doors slammed open and Godric stood there, looking at Idalia with his eyes wide open as I let go of her hands and walked away from her. She left her hand extended towards me, trying to make sure I was still there, but she looked at me, disappointed when she couldn’t reach me.     I shook my head and let her know I was still here for her.     “Dad,” she whispered, and as I saw Godric, his eyes were full of rage. He was walking towards her at a slow pace, but the anger and the menace was there.    “Godric, stop it!” Mirabel called, but he wasn’t stopping. I stood in front of Idalia, protecting from whatever he was planning on doing to her. He hasn’t been himself since I came to the castle with Ethan.    “What do you think you’re doing?” I asked, with a growl coming from the back of my throat.     “She has betrayed the family and the subjects. We stopped being her parents the moment she decided to leave this place. I was hoping you didn’t find her so you can find another beast worthy of being your mate,” he said and Mirabel was crying behind him, trying to stop him from saying anything else.     “Dad, I am sorry. I swear I didn’t mean-”    “Don’t you dare apologize to him. You did nothing wrong, you only did what was best for you,” I said, and she nodded in agreement. I faced Godric and approached him, he was tall, but I was taller and more intimidating than him.    “If she is not welcome here, I will happily take her with me. She will be my queen either way.”    “Blaze, we haven’t agreed to anything,” Idalia said and I looked at her with my eyebrows raised.    “Do you really want to stay here, where your own father won’t forgive you and won’t accept you back in his home?”     She stayed silent and looked at both her parents. Mirabel was in tears, but she was not moving a finger to help her daughter.     “It was a waste of time coming here, we should have just gone straight to the mountains. I am sure she will be welcome there, and she will be loved by my people, my flock.”    I extended my hands to hers, and she didn’t hesitate to take it as we left the castle. She was feeling too sad to shift, so I offered here a ride one more time, and this time she accepted.     We took off to the mountains, where I was going to make sure she would be cared for and loved the way she deserves.
