Idalia
“Can we talk in private? I know this is a special event, but I need to talk to you,” I said.
Lucian nodded and excused himself with his family. Blaze decided to stay behind as he said he was having a bad feeling in his gut.
I followed Lucian to a small studio like room, and he led me in. I looked around while he closed the door, and it made me happy to see he was having the life he wanted with his mate.
“How are things going on here?” I asked as he stood there with his arms on his side, a serious expression on his face and I wanted to know what was wrong with him.
Suddenly he approached me and took me in his arms once again, his hold getting tighter as he poured all his love and showed me how much he missed me.
“I missed you so much, little one. You have no idea,” he said, cupping my cheeks as he kissed my forehead.
“I missed you, too. Every night I would think about you and our parents, and it was hard. But I had to do what was best for me, even if I couldn’t last longer.”
“Fifteen years, that was long enough. I am glad Blaze brought you back.”
He had tears in his eyes, something he never had before. But he missed me just as I missed him and we were both in such an emotional ride.
“You need to let Thora out, at least once. She needs to fly and feel the air on her wings,” he said. I knew he was right, but I was not confident about letting her out. She might take over and take her freedom too far.
‘Idalia, I promise I won’t do that. Please, let me out at least once, my wings need to stretch,’ she said and I nodded, agreeing with both of them. Lucian took my hand and led me outside through the back door.
We stood by the woods and he shifted, showing me the other side of him. His gargoyle was just how I remembered him. Majestic and beautiful.
“Castellan,” I whispered, a tear falling down my cheek as he wiped it away with his thumb.
“Yes, little one. It is me, and I have missed you and Thora,” his deep voice would make anyone scurry away, but he was my brother and I never felt so safe as with him.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, I had a feeling it might be a painful shift since it had been so long.
“Let her out,” Castellan said and not long after, I felt the pain in my back, falling on my knees and my hands, while the wings came out, making me scream. My eyes were glowing, and my fangs were coming out in a fast motion, making my mouth feel like it was on fire.
“Embrace her, little one. That’s just her, desperately wanting to get out, so let her take over now.”
My horns were giving me a headache, but I was grateful they were out faster than the rest of Thora. Loud growls were coming from her, and she finally took over my body.
Her black and red wings were stretched out, shining with the sunlight as Castellan helped her up.
“Welcome back, little Thora,” he said, caressing her horns.
“I am not little anymore. And I am so glad to be back, and to be out,” she said, and I felt guilty for keeping her caged inside my body, not being able to be herself for one single moment.
Castellan took her by the hand and they both took off, with him helping her get herself balanced for the flight. She was a little rusty, and it was all because of me.
He took her by the hands and when he let her go, she let the air flow under the wings, feeling the cool breeze rush by her as she took in a deep breath and took in the light of the sun on her skin.
‘I am sorry, Thora. If only I had let you out once in a while, this wouldn’t be happening,’ I said from within.
“It’s okay, Idalia. I am happy to be out now.”
After a nice day in the skies, they returned and Thora finally let me take over. We walked inside with his arm on my shoulder as we joined his family to enjoy the celebration.
Everyone was dancing and chatting while the bride and groom were in a corner, looking like they were having fun in their own little world. It really made me miss Stephen and a sudden sadness took over me.
“Don’t worry, he will be fine. I am sure he won’t miss you at all,” Blaze whispered in my ear, causing shivers to run through my body.
“How do you know? He loves me, and it will be hard to forget me. I left without saying goodbye and now he will think I just left him.”
“Well, you left him,” he said, letting out a soft growl.
“Calm down, you reptile. It’s not like I am yours.”
“You will, very soon. That’s why I went to find you.”
A sudden dread came over me when I looked to the side, where Dawn’s twins were standing, looking at each other before they scanned the whole room.
“What’s wrong with them?” I asked, looking at them curiously.
“I don’t know. They are about to turn twenty-one the same day as me, but they have been acting weird since they turned twenty. There is something dark about them and no one knows why. Not even Dawn, or Stella who is the strongest creature in the kingdom.” Blaze said, but his eyes had suddenly turned red as he started scenting the air around him.
“I smell something weird, and I am not liking it.”
I was wondering what he was talking about. There didn’t seem to be anything odd about this place, but I froze as my mind took me somewhere else.
~~~~~~
Fire everywhere, and the village gargoyles were screaming while they tried to fly away, not succeeding. One big creature hovering around while they blasted the village with lightning rods and fire.
“Save us!” Kids were screaming and I couldn’t do anything to save them as I walked across the village, seeing the damage and the chaos appearing in front of me.
Two figures were standing at the end of the village and they were blurred out. I couldn’t see their faces, but I heard their evil laughs. My hair was rising from the back of my neck and Thora was feeling uneasy inside of me, wanting to take over and charge against them.
“Who are you, and why are you hurting these people?” I asked and their laughs died down.
“We are the ones who will destroy this place. Since we were born, there has been a prophecy where two born from royalty will finally leave the kingdom without any rulers. Without any future.” a female voice came from one of the blurred out bodies.
“Who are you?” I asked again.
“That’s for us to know and you to find out.”
~~~~~~
“Idalia, Idalia!” I heard Blaze call me and I quickly got out of my trance. My seer power let me see what will happen to this village, and I couldn’t see the culprit’s faces, but I knew who they were.
I looked at the corner, and as they looked back at me, a smile escaped both of their lips. They knew what I have seen, and I was sure it was their intention.
