Finally Home

Blaze    This was it. We were standing in the park, waiting for the portal to open. Idalia looked back at the city, remembering the good times she had here.    “Stop reading my mind, Blaze,” she said, angrily.     “I was not reading your mind. I could tell by the way you are looking back that you have mixed feelings,” I replied, looking at her softly.     She looked at me with her eyes narrowed. I was sure she was not happy with me or her gargoyle.    “I had a life here, Blaze. You had taken it away from me. Of course I would be angry. I couldn’t even say goodbye to my boyfriend.”    Not another word was said when the portal finally appeared, and I grabbed her by her elbow before we walked in.     The portal took us back in a rush, and before we knew it, we were already in Gargodom. It had taken us back to the cliff.    “Welcome home,” I said, but Idalia was still silent. She walked away, trying to find her way through the woods, making me wonder why she was walking instead of just shifting.      “Why don’t you shift?” I asked, curiously.     A bitter laugh came out of those pretty plump lips, and I frowned. Did I say something wrong?    ‘She kept me inside for so many years, that I can’t even remember how to take over. This woman here wouldn’t let me,’ Thora said as Idalia tried to keep her quiet.     “Enough, Thora!” I heard Idalia raise her voice.     We walked a little further, but the castle was far, so I decided to shift. As soon as I did, I stood next to her, bending down to get her to climb my neck.    “Get on,” I said with my mind.     She ignored me, and I let out a cloud of smoke, surrounding her and making her cough.    “Cute, now my “mate” wants to suffocate me and I haven’t been here a minute,” she said, quoting the word mate with her fingers.     I snorted and blocked her path towards the castle. Me, a big beast was obviously going to win against her, especially if her gargoyle was not in her full senses.    I roared at her, but she stood there, not intimidated by it at all. Idalia rolled her eyes and walked around me, pushing my tail to the side.     “I am not afraid of a dragon, so don’t waste your time.”    She kept walking and the fire within me was burning. This beast was going to be a problem, and I had to come with a smart solution.    We finally arrived at the Royal castle, and we would have arrived faster if she had accepted to ride on my back, but she was a stubborn one.     “State your business,” one of the guards said as soon as we approached the castle. They were fully shifted, their wings stretched out to the sides, and their weapons pointing at us.    I couldn’t say I blamed them, they have been attacked by many enemies over the years and they were just being alert.     “We are here to see Dawn and Lucian. Tell them Idalia is back and wants to see him,” I said, and they looked at each other before one of them walked in to give the news.      Not long after, Lucian came out, and seeing his sister was as if life had come back to him. He had missed her a lot, and he was glad to see her back.    “Idalia?” he stopped on his tracks and I could hear her heart beat rapidly.    “Yes, Lucian. It’s me,” she replied, tears falling from their eyes, and it made me proud to have reunited them. Lucian approached her and took her in his arms, ending up in full sobs as he held her tight against him.     “I am so happy to see you. I have missed you, my little pearl.”    They both headed in and I followed, nodding at the guards as I walked in.     “How has your life been? Where have you been?” he asked, and she stayed silent, probably not wanting him to know she had been in the enemy’s world.     “She has been living in the human world,” I mentioned, getting a furious stare from her as I smirked.    “What were you doing there? What if they discovered Thora?”     Idalia rolled her eyes with a laugh as she took his hand, looking at him in his eyes.    “She has been dormant for years. I was able to control her.”    “Able to control her? Does that mean you never shifted? Not even in the privacy of wherever you lived?”    Idalia shook her head, but she didn’t realize that keeping her beast trapped could cause consequences for both of them. Everyone in this kingdom knew that.    She wanted to be irritated by his brother scolding her, but she looked at me with guilt in her eyes as I tried to mind link with Thora.    “She’s fine, she just wants to be let out and have some freedom. Being stuck for almost fifteen years can take a toll on her,” I reassured them and she looked back at Lucian, who nodded and brought her further into the castle.    We walked inside the dining area and we could see they were preparing for dinner. I saw Stella walking around with her son Witter, who was wearing a fancy outfit.    “We are preparing for his wedding. Last year he was claimed by a beautiful girl from town and now that he just turned twenty one, he wanted the wedding to happen already,”     “And Dawn, is she okay?” Idalia asked.     “She is. Just trying to keep the twins in order. They think just because they are grown, they can act like they have no common sense. None of them have found their mates yet, which is driving Dawn crazy because they had turned into rebellious creatures. Not even Rhett can control our daughter and she is his treasure.”    “Rebellious?” I asked, looking at Lucian curiously.    “Yes. Yesterday, Severin just shot a blast of electricity at Dawn, and we were lucky she dodged it and tried to calm him down with a blast of water, being careful not to hurt him. Electricity and water don’t mix, you know.”    I had a bad feeling about this. As soon as I saw the twins walk in with Dawn, Severin’s eyes were glowing a silver color, but there was a hint of black in them, and that was showing me he was up to no good.     “We have a problem here.”
