“Morning! Wanna go out for breakfast?” Dagon asked, as he placed a kiss on Bella’s neck.
He was already up and dressed, while she was still lying in bed. When he came home in the middle of the night, he had found her in the chair and had carried her to bed.
“Yeah, just.. Give me a minute,” Bella replied with a yawn, as she sat up in the bed and stretched.
She was tired, which was probably from the lack of sleep. She had woken up in terror, every time Dagon had moved the slightest in his sleep or someone had passed the door outside the room.
Still, she had no way of explaining it to Dagon. So, she decided not to tell him what happened the night before.
She knew how angry he had been about the kiss, and thinking about all possible ways he could react to this, just seemed unimaginable, for him to be able to see through it.
She was sure he wouldn’t forgive her, so it was easier to just stay quiet, and act like nothing had happened.
“Great! I’ll just have a quick smoke, and you just come down when you’re ready, okay?” He smiled, as he stole a kiss, before heading out of there.
She gave a strained sigh. He seemed genuinely happy, but it only made her feel even more guilty, like she was betraying him.
When she finally pulled herself together and got ready, before she headed downstairs.
She was hoping she wouldn’t have to face Ifrit, but once again it seemed like luck wasn’t in her favor, ‘cause the moment she passed by his door, Ifrit stepped out of his room.
He didn’t appear to have a single trouble in his life. It actually seemed to be the exact opposite, which only bothered her more. But she was determined to just continue like he didn’t exist, but he had to make a scene of himself, she supposed.
“I realized you didn’t tell Dagon about our little encounter last night,” Ifrit stated, which made Bella freeze.
“Don’t you dare say anything!” She snapped. She turned towards him, with a glare, while she pointed at his chest. But he was clearly enjoying the power he had over her.
“I don’t know, I can’t lie to my own brother like that, Bella, that wouldn’t be right,” he spoke – like he actually cared – while he stroked her hand.
“But you didn’t have any problem taking advantage of me, even though Dagon specifically told you to stay away from me!” She hissed, while she pulled her hand away from his touch.
“Did I really? Or maybe you just don’t know what you really want,” he spoke, leaving Bella dumbfounded.
“Listen, Bella, I like you. I get why my brother is so enchanted by you. Your charm and beauty are just so captivating, that I can’t help wanting you, too.” He spoke, as he stepped towards her, making her back away, but as she came in contact with the wall he caged her in.
“I know you probably aren’t used to hearing this, but the answer is still no!” Bella hissed, only to be received by a snicker from Ifrit, as his face came closer to hers.
She closed her eyes and turned her head to the side, while the smell of his aftershave filled her nostrils and she could feel how his lips were slightly touching her ear.
“I’m actually a very patient man, Bella, and reasonable too, for the right price of course..” he spoke calmly, as he stroked her cheek.
“So, when you’re ready, I’m here to listen to what you have to offer.. At least until my brother asks the right questions..” he added, before he let go of the wall. Then he picked up one of his cigarettes and lit it.
“I hope you’ll have a nice day!” He chipped, before he then headed downstairs, leaving her unable to move from astonishment. She couldn’t comprehend he had actually just threatened her.
[Stella’s POV]
When I opened my eyes, a girl was staring at me, making me jump in shock.
“Don’t be scared, I’m not in any danger to you. I’m Daliah, by the way.” She stated, as she sent me a smile, and after a moment I recognized her as Ezra’s sister.
“You’re Ezra’s sister, aren’t you?” I spoke, as I managed to pull myself up to a sitting position. Daliah observed me, clearly confused by my statement.
“I’m not sure that I recognize you. Have we met before?” She asked.
“No, you probably just know me as “the hybrid girl”, clearly everyone calls me that.” I replied, as I rolled my eyes slightly because it sounded so ridiculous.
“Don’t say Ezra, actually.. That i***t!” Daliah hissed angrily. But then I placed my hands on top of hers.
“Hey, it’s okay, he didn’t force me to go, I agreed to help him, so don’t blame him.” I defended, making Daliah frown.
“Why would you do that?” She asked, while I gave her hand a little squeeze.
“Ezra wants to get you out of here, and I understand the wish to protect the ones you love,” I explained, making Daliah’s face turn sad and despondent.
“He has no idea what Damon plans to do, but I have, that’s why I refused to help him. You really shouldn’t be here!” She warned me.
“Why? What is it he wants?” I asked, but before she got to answer, the door suddenly opened.
“I see you’ve got yourself a new friend,” a man spoke with a mischievous grin on his lips, which made Daliah rise.
“I want you to figure out if she really can’t use any of her abilities, but you are not to try anything with her!” Damon’s voice resonated through the small earpiece he was wearing, but my hearing was far more advanced, than Damon probably believed to be the case, so I could clearly hear what was being said.
“What do you want, Mag?” Daliah asked, as she clearly feared him.
“I just wanted to say hi to our new friend, is that so weird?” He replied, as he stepped closer.
My hands were still bound together, so I didn’t have many options; therefore, I started moving backwards on the mattress.
“Where are you going? You can’t really run anywhere,” he stated.
“No, but I can still kick your àss!” I hissed.
“Let’s test that, I wanna see how,” he replied as he stepped towards me.
When I believed he was close enough, I kicked him in the stomach, but as I tried to kick him again, he grabbed on to my leg and pulled, making me fall flat on the mattress.
“I thought a hybrid was supposed to be stronger than that!” He scoffed, as he leaned in over me.
I knew he wasn’t supposed to do anything, Damon wouldn’t let him. He had already revealed that, so if I just avoided using any abilities, I was sure everything would be fine.
“So you aren’t even going to resist?” He asked. But as Damon underestimated me, I realized I had underestimated him too.
“Shift target!” Damon’s voice came through. He knew my weakness, and I was aware that he didn’t have any reason to leave Daliah unscathed.
He’d already proved that to Ezra, so when Mag let go of me and headed for Daliah, I knew I had to do something.
“Don’t touch her!” I hissed as I tried to stop him by taking hold of his leg, but it didn’t work. I couldn’t get a proper grip because of the rope.
“Please, don’t do this!” Daliah begged, as she pulled away to the furthest corner of the room, while she curled up in the corner, but he just kept going towards her.
“I said, leave her alone!” I yelled as I rose from the floor and ran over there, and the moment I was behind him, I pushed him with all I had.
It resulted in him tripping and banging his head on the corner of the stone wall, making his head instantly c***k open, and blood pouring everywhere.
“Oh no, is he dead? This is all my fault!” I blurred out, as I covered my mouth.
“Hey, calm down, don’t blame yourself,” Daliah spoke calmly as she pulled herself up and placed her hands on my arms.
“But I never meant for anyone to die, I.. I’m a horrible person,” I cried, as she began removing the robe from my wrists.
“Hey, no you’re not. If he hadn’t attacked us, you wouldn’t have had to do it. You warned him several times, right?” Daliah stated.
I nodded, while I rubbed the area where the rope had been sitting all night.
“See, you have nothing to feel guilty of..” she began to explain, but paused, as she hissed in pain.
“Are you okay?” I asked, while I took hold of her shoulders, but she just tried to smile through it.
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me,”
“No, this is not fine, what have they done to you?” I blurred out, horrified, when I saw the bruises on the right side of her ribcage.
“You must be in a lot of pain,” I stated.
“It’s just a few broken ribs, I’ll be fine,” she dismissed, but from the look on her face I knew she was trying to act brave.
“Here! Let me try something..” I spoke, but Daliah stopped me.
“No! If you succeed, he will just have another reason to use you.”
“He already knows my blood has healing abilities, so it doesn’t change anything, and you can just pretend to still have it, so don’t worry,” I dismissed, before placing my hands on the bruise and closing my eyes.
“But, do you even know what you’re doing?” She asked hesitantly.
“I haven’t done it before, but I’ve seen my mom do it plenty of times, so just relax,” I replied as I exhaled.
[..]
“I’m not feeling well, so I think I’ll just stay in bed today,” Bella explained, when Dagon came back to the room and asked why she didn’t come down like she had told she would.
“Oh, okay then, I’ll get you something to eat, you at least shouldn’t starve,” he spoke, before he placed a kiss on her forehead.
“I hope you feel better soon, I’ll be right back,” he stated, and headed outside, where he found Ifrit sitting on the hood of his car.
“Where’s Bella? I thought the two of you were going out.” He asked, as he took a hit on his cigarette.
“She doesn’t feel well, so I’m going to get her something to eat and bring it to her.” He explained, as Ifrit nodded.
“Right.. By the way, thanks for the delivery yesterday. I was pleased to see you actually got it for me.” Ifrit spoke, as Dagon opened the front door.
“Well, I’m glad you liked it, ‘cause that was the last time I do these kinds of deals for you. Now move your àss from my car!” Dagon snarled as he hopped in and turned on the engine.
He stepped on the gas a few times before Ifrit moved, but then he jumped in to the car next to Dagon, making him sigh in frustration.
“I’m disappointed to hear that, I was hoping you would stay here and work with me, like we used to,” Ifrit sulked.
“I’m not staying here forever, Ifrit. I have no interest in living on top of a club for demons, which is putting Bella’s life at risk. The only reason we are staying there right now, is because it’s more dangerous outside than in your club. Now get out!” Dagon snapped.
“If you don’t wanna stay, fine, but let's at least have some brother bonding time, who knows how long I’m gonna have my brother with me!” He spoke, as he clapped him on the shoulder, before he leaned back in the seat.
“And besides.. I know some pretty good places around here that I’m sure will fall into your little wolf’s taste.” He replied with a smile.
“Fine! But only because you know this town better than me,” Dagon reclaimed, before he put the car in reverse, backed out, and then took off.
“But why the sudden interest in that blood?” Dagon asked. He kept his eyes forward, but he clearly felt Ifrit’s gaze at him.
“So, you figured out what it was. Well, rumors started to circulate, that a hybrid exists and there suddenly were sources stating that this hybrid has magically healing blood. When I realized someone actually was selling it, that’s when I knew I needed to get my hands on it.”
“So, it’s some kind of sick fetish of yours or what?” Dagon frowned, but Ifrit just snickered.
“Nah man, call it curiosity or whatever, but if this hybrid really exists, then think about how much money it actually could bring in,” he explained.
“Or maybe you should just leave it the fück alone!” Dagon growled, making Ifrit look at him amused.
“Why do you suddenly care so much? It’s not like you know this hybrid anyway,” he trailed off.
“Doesn’t matter! You clearly shouldn’t mess with other’s business like that!” Dagon huffed, as he tried keeping his anger at bay.
“It will probably kill you before you get a chance anyway,” Dagon added.
“Might be, but from what I heard, this hybrid has a weakness, so..”
“Just forget it, okay! From what I’VE heard, Mr. Mortem has already claimed ownership of that damn hybrid, so don’t meddle in it!” He hissed, as he finally lost his temper.
[..]
Bella knew she was being a coward. Not being able to face him was a new low point for her. It didn’t make it better that she kept lying to his face. So, she figured that he probably would be better off without her.
“I’m so sorry, Dagon, I wish things could have been different.” She murmured to herself, as she watched him and Ifrit drive away, before she shifted to her wolf and started running.
There weren’t many patrols in the area at that hour, but it also made her blindly believe it was safer.
She realized her mistake, when she suddenly was shot in the leg, making her stumble to the ground.
She instantly turned back to her human form, as the wound started to burn like she was on fire. She knew it had to be some kinda wolfsbane.
It wasn’t sufficient to kill her, but still enough to prevent her from shifting.
“Where do you think you are going?”
Two demons she had seen around the club, probably some of Ifrit’s men, walked towards her, while they both were aiming their guns at her.
“Leave me alone! I just wanna go home,” she hissed, as the burning in her leg made it impossible for her to move on.
“You aren’t going anywhere!” One of them stated, while he walked behind her and forced her hands onto her back, before pulling her off the ground.
“Cover her up, we can’t have anyone jumping at her when we get back,” he then spoke to the other one, who immediately stepped over to her and covered her with his jacket.
Then they put her into their car, and drove her back to the club.
Bella wondered if Dagon was looking for her. He probably already realized she wasn’t in bed anymore, so a part of her feared to face him.
Will he be mad at me?
When the car stopped, one of the demons pulled her out of the car and toward the entrance, but the same second they stepped through the doors, Dagon was coming downstairs.
When he glanced in her direction, he had to blink twice, as if he was trying to make sure he wasn’t imagining things.
“What the hell is going on here!?” Dagon growled.
Bella only wore a jacket, while she was limping on her leg, and it was only moments ago she had been crying, so she was sure it was visible.
As he got closer, his eyes caught the wound on her leg as blood was covering her leg and right foot.
“She was trying to run, so we stopped her,” one of them explained, as Dagon pulled out his own gun, making Bella freeze.
“She is not a fücking prisoner, so unhand her right now, or I’ll shoot both of you!” Dagon growled, as they let go of her straight away.
He walked over to her, and lifted her up in his arms, before he carried her back to the room.
He placed her on the bed and found a first aid kit to clean the wound on her leg, without a word.
Bella didn’t know what to say, and she had no idea of what was going on inside Dagon’s head, but as he was done removing the bullet and had placed a foam bandage on her wound, he suddenly spoke.
“I don’t wanna make you feel like you are forced to stay, but I wonder why you would run?” He asked in a calm voice, while he observed her.
She knew he wanted an answer, but she couldn’t even look at him nor answer his question.
“Bella, please, tell me, why would you run away from me?” He asked, and Bella couldn’t hold her tears back anymore.
“Did I do anything that scared you? ‘Cause if I did, then I’m truly sorry, I never wanted to..” he spoke, as he gently removed the tears from her cheek, but she shook her head, which made him look at her, both confused and worried.
“No, I just didn’t want you to hate me, but I fear you will, if I tell you why I wanna leave,” she sobbed, as he hugged her.
“I could never hate you, Bella. I apologize if I made you feel like that, but I.. I love you, okay. Just tell me what’s gotten you this upset?” He asked in a gentle tone, as he kept holding her close.
“It’s Ifrit. He came into our room last night. When you were gone, I was already asleep and.. I thought it was you, but.. I’m sorry, I didn’t know, and..” she continued to cry, so Dagon didn’t even get half of it.
“What did he do?” He asked as his jaw tensed, while she looked at him with tears running down her face.
