"What do you indicate by that?" I asked him, as if I couldn't figure out the meaning behind his previous declaration.

I will never reject you, Paige.

"I didn't peg you for a dumb person." He ridiculed me and I huffed. I let go of his grasp and took a step back.

"And I didn't peg you for a…oh wait, I did peg you for a stubborn person. And I'm precise." I retorted and he just smirked.

"Since you already comprehend that, it's time you load your suitcases because I'm taking you with me." He proclaimed and I glared at him.

"Try me." I challenged him and he just smirked, turning around and leaving me alone. I was just hoping he'd get lost in the woods and never get out of there.

"Ugh!" I stomped my feet and huffed.

Ember - "We have a good mate." Ember took the worst time to pitch in and not with the best remark.

Paige - "Really? I didn't see him being good anywhere." I retorted and she just chuckled at me.

Ember - "If you can follow tit-for-tat, he could, too, right? Did you behave mannerfully with him?" She tried to make me feel guilty but I wasn't going to give up.

Paige - "But why?! I don't want to stay with him! You know we've always planned to go and stay in the human world. Why is he blocking our happiness?! If he was a good mate, he would've just rejected us and let us be." I whined because it was only her who'd listen to me.

Ember - "You've been hell-bent on moving to the human land where we don't belong. We are meant to do big things, Paige. I hope you'll learn to accept our fate." She tried to make me accept all of this but it felt hard.

Paige - "A fate like him? I know we never dreamt of having a mate in that way but he is very annoying." I told her, commenting on the Alpha Brat.

Ember - "I'm not commenting on how big of a pain in the… you are." She taunted me and I just rolled my eyes.

Paige - "Are you my wolf or his?! You've sided with that man in just a few minutes of being together." I articulated to her, who was so against me today.

Ember - "I'm your wolf and his mate. I have to be on both sides. And, to be honest, he is strikingly attractive." Ember was already fangirling over him but I was not going to fall for that face, that easily. He had the entire arrogance for the same reason.

Paige - "I'm gonna make sure our mate has the most promising time with me." I assured her and had a smirk on my face.

Ember - "I'm not sure about your intentions when you convey such words." She said and I just chuckled.

Paige - "You know me the best since you are my wolf. Let that mate understand us the best, too." I said, determined to make sure I would show someone hell being with me.

I was on the bed in the maid's quarters when I felt the door being knocked on. I peeked up and there was my favourite person in the entire world. I had a feeling that her number was going to turn to number two soon.

"How is it that everywhere I glimpse, you are present to burn my eyes?" I asked her with a big smile and she blinked at me, giving me another one of her pearly white smiles.

"I can't help that I shine so bright. I suggest you wear sunglasses because I'll always glow like this." She responded and I rolled my eyes at her.

"Why don't you try going with that shine in front of that Alpha King?" I suggested and she just blushed. I was hoping he'd get blind with her burning bright gloss and then I'll just replace myself with someone else and run away.

"I was just with him. He's summoned you so I had to seize this opportunity to come and call you." She informed me. "Just wanted to advise you, to be ready to be rejected." She teased and giggled, sounding childish. I could imagine her blowing a raspberry at my face.

"I hope he accomplishes what you are proposing," I mumbled and got down from the bed where I was peacefully resting.

We both walked out and towards the Alpha's cabin. I had a passive face on the out front but internally I was freaking out. I didn't know what that guy was planning more to torture me. I had discerned that he was delighted in pushing my buttons.

"Alpha," I greeted Alpha Rogers and bowed to him. I only looked at the Alpha King Whatever.

"Saw that, she's already taken up the role of my Luna." He commented and I tried to hold myself because he was just so on point to poke me. I didn't utter a word. He glanced at Alpha Rogers, giving him a signal.

"Paige, I've already signed your transfer papers. You are free to go now." He announced and I felt a little jerk in my body.

For the past few years when I got my wolf and understood that I didn't want to stay in this pack, I was waiting for him to say those words. But I didn't expect that when he'd be saying those words, I wouldn't really be free. I would just be tied from one pack to another.

"Alpha Rogers." I just muttered without having anything else to say. It was unbelievable to me and I just couldn't believe a day had come, not in the way I was expecting but still.

"Much appreciated for your quick work, Alpha Rogers." My mate greeted him and I was a bit surprised that he would say that. "I'll take my mate with me without any backlogs." He added and I legit took a step back. It was indeed happening.

"I'm not going with you!" I yelled and he gave me an intense look.

"I'd like to talk to my mate… privately." He said and the leftover crowd just departed the cabin, giving us the privacy he requested.

I waited for two minutes and then looked at him. "I think you should be initiating this conversation because you instigated that we talk." I quoted the same words he had cited to me earlier.

"Very well. Delighted to know my Luna is attentive to my every word." He answered and I felt lost for a moment.

"I'm not your Luna." I reminded him and he stepped closer to me so I took a step back. It was like a cat and mouse play where he was the predator cat and I was the prey mouse.

I was not dissatisfied that I was the mouse because, among Tom and Jerry, it was always Jerry who won. Mostly.

"Not yet but once we go back, you will be given the title." He said and took another step towards me and I went back.

"Why do you want to coerce me into this mate bond?" I asked him and he gave me a satisfied look.

"I told you because you intrigued me. It's just very relieving to squabble with you." He answered and I gave him an unbelievable look. I couldn't believe that he was genuinely answering in that way.

"You want to trap me because you relish bickering with me?" I asked him and he took a step forward and I took a step back, hitting the wall behind me. He put both of his arms next to my face, literally trapping me.

"Doesn't it sound like a perfect justification to preserve you with me?" He asked and I glanced at him. One of his hands held my chin and made me look at him, not letting me go. "It is always more fun to see a fish in shallow water than in a pond. You get to know how much the fish wants to live."

"You want to live with me…just live. I'll show you if I'm a fish or a damn shark!" I told him and narrowed my eyes on him.

"If you want to be a shark, I'll have to become a dolphin for you." He said to me and I felt like living with him won't be that bad. I was always up for good challenges. "And if we have to swim in the same ocean, you better stop showing me your sharp teeth, Shark."

"You can try to swim away, too, Dolphin." I retorted and he only came close to me. I could feel his breath on my neck and hear his breathing in my ear. It was making me shiver in delight.

"As I said earlier, we will live together. So, reduce the arrogance or it'll compel me more to break it." He warned me.

"I suggest you initiate the first step towards that. Because you were the one who brought us to this juncture." I told him and I heard him chuckle. A strong wave passed inside me.

"So, you'll mirror whatever I do, right? Mirror this then." He challenged me and went ahead to peck my neck, making me stunned by just a small action.

I'm in deep trouble.
