Chapter 3

Arianna

Months passed since I transferred here to Trinity High and now, we’re preparing for our monthly exam. Yna is currently with me here in the mini-park inside our school. We don’t like to study in the library because we know it will be too crowded.

We’re always here every time our examination is approaching. We always study because we don’t want our grades to failing even monthly exams and quiz, we always do this.

There are a lot of things happened since I started studying here, like when my cousin’s best friend, Catherine suddenly disappeared. Kuya gio was so devastated about what happen I can’t even talk to him for months. My aunt starts to get worried about him, he always crying in his room. It looks like Cath has a big impact on him.

As for Damien, I always saw him around the school but I always avoid him because I starting to fall for him and I know he will never reciprocate it and it’s scaring the hell out of me. He’s a notorious playboy. I heard a lot of stories about him, that he just dumping like trash and didn’t even care if he hurt them or not.

All I did this past few months is focusing on my studies. I also applied for a scholarship in this school and I got accepted. So now I’m also helping Yna around the library every day after class. Aunt Mandy at first object about it because they can provide for me and they want is for me to study well but after later she changed her mind.

It’s really peaceful right here, it’s quiet and it’s surrounded by trees.

I looked around and saw Damien and his friends near where we seated. They were busy talking until suddenly he looked in my direction and our eyes met. I quickly looked away.

I look at Yna to see that she’s looking at me

“You’re looking at him again.” She said and smirk.

I shook my head. “I didn’t mean to look at him.”

Yna hissed. “Yeah! I’m not blind aria.”

I pouted.

She laughed but suddenly stop and then her eyes starting to get widen. She leans on me closer.

“He’s coming here” I don’t need to ask who is it because it’s obvious she is referring to Damien.

I feel my heartbeat is going fast, every time he is near, I always feel like this that’s why I avoid him….to save myself from him.

Until I felt someone sit beside me, I didn’t turn around I already know that it was Damien.

“Hey girls!” he said in a happy tone. I looked at him and he smiled at me.

I didn’t say anything. I just smiled back. After I turned my gaze to my reviewer and read it.

I try to understand what I’m reading but I can’t do it because of Damien’s presence. So, I don’t have a choice but to looked back at him and found him staring at me.

I gulped. I can feel it again the fast heartbeat inside of me.

He sighed. “Aria…”

“Yeah?”

“I was wondering if you still remember you’re promised to me? You know about me treating you for a snack.”

Oh, my ghad! I forgot about that.

I just smiled at him. There is nothing wrong if I told him the truth.

“I’m sorry Damien, I forgot about it I got busy this past few days because of class”

“No, it’s okay. I can see that you really are busy.” He said looking in the notebooks and books scattering in the table.

I was about to speak again when he looked around and waving his hand. I turned around to see who he’s waving at and saw it was one of his friends.

Just like Damien, his friend is very a good-looking person.  The difference between the two of them is Damien is more a happy go lucky kind of guy and approachable while his friend has an aura of ‘don’t talk to me’ in his face and he looks snob.

“Bro!” Damien’s friend called him.

Damien nodded. “Hey! What brings you here?”

His friend didn’t answer him. They just stared at each other.

They seem talking to each other in their minds. They stopped staring at each other when they notice that I’m looking at them.

Damien just smiles apologetically to me. I just shrugged it off and look back to the reviewer that I’m reading.

We went silent for a second until Damien’s friend groaned. I looked up again and he was staring at yna.

So, I called her. “Yna?”

“Yeah!” she answered and placed down the book she’s reading. Her face turned surprised when she saw Damien’s friend.

“Oh yeah before I forget, this is my friend Nathaniel.” seeing Damien put his arm in his friend’s shoulders

I just smile at him and he did the same, after that he looked at Yna who looks confused while looking at Nathaniel.

He stands up and seats beside Yna.

“Nathaniel.” raising his hand for a handshake.

“Georgina” yna said while accepting his hand and turned again to the book she was reviewing.

“So, Georgina, can I ask you out?” My eyes widened in his question. He too straight forward and the way he asks it was too smooth.

But I’m more shocked by Yna’s answer.

“Out to what?” Looks like Yna didn’t understand or it’s just me who gave another meaning to his question.

“Like for a cup of coffee. After school?” He casually asked again.

Yna just shook his head. “Thanks, but I can’t, we’re a student assistant. We still need to help in the library.”

I thought Nathaniel will accept it but….

“Is that so, how about I wait for you?”

“No, you don’t have to. It’s two or three hours wait. I don’t want to make you wait.” I know that Yna is just giving reason than rejecting it directly.

“You don’t have to worry about it. If it’s you I can wait.  If you want, you can bring your friend if that’s will make you more comfortable, I can bring Damien too.” He’s really persistent about this.

I looked at Damien and I can see him smirking while looking at me. I have a feeling that they will not go unless Yna will accept Nathaniel’s invite.

Yna turn to me and ask me if I will go with her.

I just nodded to her. “Yeah, I’ll go with you Yna, remember we’re going to have a sleepover tonight at our house tonight.”

She nodded her head and turn to Nathaniel. “Sure, we will go with you guys but we need to go early after that. We need to study for our scholarship.”

“Of course! No problem.” Nathaniel said.

He stand-up and left after.

Damien also gets up of his and bow down closer to me. His lips are an inch closer to my ear.  

“See you later baby. I’m going to wait for you in the library.” he whispered to me.

I can feel the heat of his breath on my cheeks while whispering to me. My eyes widen when I felt him kissed me on my cheek and left after.

Yna and I look at each other. I felt my face heated thinking that Yna saw what Damien just did.

But I felt relief when I saw that she’s back again in her book so I think she didn’t saw it. Thank God!
