Chapter 2

Arianna

Georgina and I spent our break time on touring around the campus. I start calling her Yna because she told me it’s her nickname. She really toured me around the school and I really enjoyed it, she's so fun to be with.

We’re walking towards the library because Yna needs to help the librarian. She told me it was part of her scholarship in this school.

I'm actually thinking to apply to be an assistant librarian to help my uncle about my school expenses though they were not struggling with money or something, I just don’t want to be a freeloader... Actually, I have my own money, left by my parents but I’m a minor so I can’t use it yet.

When we arrived at the library, I went to a table near Georgina’s counter. The class dismissed too early today because I think our teachers are still not yet recovered from vacation.

I was busy reading a novel recommended by Yna when someone sits in a chair in front of me. I stop reading and looked up. I was welcomed by Damien’s handsome face.

Suddenly, Kuya Gio’s words about Damien crossed my mind. My forehead knotted. "You need anything?" I asked him.

Damien nodded. "Yeah!" He answered while still staring at me. I feel he wants to read what’s on my mind or am I being paranoid. I don’t know.

When I couldn't stand his stares, I groaned but he didn't even look away. It has no effect.

"You know, staring at someone is so rude." I blurted out.

He smirked. "I know but I can't help it... you’re a beautiful sight that it’s hard not look at." He said smoothly. It looks like he’s used to this kind of conversation.

Kuya Gio’s right, he’s a playboy. I don’t want to be a plaything. I want a man who will love and care for me genuinely... a man like my daddy. I always love watching him with my mom every day when they’re still alive. My mom always said that she was lucky to meet someone like my dad. So, she always reminded me to look for someone like my father that will love me truly and who can do crazy things to make me happy.

My parent's love was an inspiration to me. A love that will last. That with each passing day, the romance between them getting deeper and stronger.

I smiled bitterly remembering the two most important people in my life. I shook my head and give back my attention to the man in front of me.

I forcefully smiled at him. "I’ll take that as a compliment." 

I thought he was going to stop asking then would leave but he starts talking again. 

"I remember you’re a transferee, right?! Do you want me to tour you around the school?" he offers.

I shook my head. "Thank you but someone already toured me around."

I can see regret flicker in his eyes. He heaved a deep sighed.

"Too bad that I hope, I was the one who toured you around here... " He paused for a while. "How about I invite you now for a snack? I know a cafe shop nearby." I don’t know how to reject his invitation... I feel ashamed if I turn him down.

I bit my lip before answering him. "I'm sorry but I’m waiting for my friend here." I said and pointed out Yna who’s busy putting back the books on the shelves.

Damien nodded and pouted his lips. I feel a little guilty while looking at his face.

"Maybe some other time". I don’t why did say it. But I really can’t help it.

His lips formed and look at me happily. "You already said that. You can’t take it back.”

Damien stand up from the chair and said he needs to go. I just nodded my head before he left. I watch him until he reaches the library exit.

I continue reading the novel I was reading before Damien came. I look at the time and saw that I need to wait for more two hours for Yna. Time passed I felt a little drowsy, so I crossed my arms to the table and rested my head on it. I don’t know if it is forbidden to sleep here in the library but I can't really stop my drowsiness.

Not until I felt someone shaking my arm. And realize it was Yna who’s waking me up.

"Sorry Aria. You fell asleep while waiting for me." Yna apologize.

I smiled at her.  "No, I’m just really lacking at sleep last night because of too much excitement for this day."  

She chuckled. "Let’s go to the cafeteria. I’m quite famished." she said pulled me up from the chair.

I just nodded and let her pulled me out of the library. When we got out, Kuya Gio was at the entrance together with a beautiful girl. Maybe this is Kuya’s best friend.

Ghad! She’s so beautiful. I notice a lot of the boys nearby was looking at her. She’s definitely a head-turner.

"Aria" Kuya Gio call me. He’s waving his hand while walking towards me. I walk closer too with Yna.

My cousin looked at the girl his with. "Cath this is my cousin, Arianna..." then he shifted his gaze on me. "And Arianna this is Cath, my best friend who’s pretty as me." 

Cath laugh because of my cousin’s remarks and then she looks at me "Hi Arianna!" she smiled at me. I was enchanted by her smile it reveals her cute dimples.

I smiled widely. "Hello!”  I look at my friend beside me. “oh, by the way, this is my new friend Georgina" introducing yna.

"Hi, Georgina. l'm Cath! Nice to meet you."

Kuya Gio suddenly giggled "oh I know who she is... You’re more beautiful up close.”

"This is embarrassing but thank you." Yna blushed. I think she doesn’t aware of how beautiful she is. 

"You’re welcome! So, I’ll see you around. We’re going to go inside." My cousin said.

Yna and I both nodded our heads and watch them getting inside the library. 

“So, you’re related to Gio Hernandez. You know what, your cousin is pretty famous around the school especially his best friend, cath. A lot of boys here admiring her."

I’m not surprised to hear what yna said. "Well, she’s indeed a beauty..."

"I couldn’t agree more.... and besides the beauty. She’s also smart and also so down to earth. Not like the other student here who thinks they above the law because they’re rich and everything.”

I just laughed at yna’s remark.

When we arrived at the cafeteria, we went straight to the counter and bought some snacks. Then we sat at the table at the corner.

"Did you got bored waiting for me?" yna’s asked me the moment I put down my food at the table.

I shook my head. "Not really... Actually, someone talked to me." 

"Who is it? Our classmate?"

I took a breath. "No, a senior... Damien Santiago." 

Her eyes widen "What did he say? I don’t say anything bad but he is a notorious playboy. I think half the girl population of this school became his girlfriend or fling. I don’t know if it’s a fling or what. Just remember this, be careful around that guy." 

I just nodded at her. She said the same with what Kuya gio told me about Damien.

After we talked, we decided to go home.

When I arrived home Aunty Mandy already preparing dinner.

We ate dinner together and went up to my room. As I lay in bed, I checked my f*******: account and saw that Yna add me a friend. I click the accept button and check her timeline. She rarely posted about herself in her timeline except for the quotes, novel lines and pictures of her with her older brother.

A few minutes later I received a notification again and it was a friend request again. I get up when I saw its name.

Damien Santiago. 

Accept or delete?

I clicked the accept button. I checked his timeline and I saw a lot of tag photos of him with various girls. I shook my head in disbelief. I put my phone near my window and close my eyes to sleep.
