Aria
We’re currently inside the coffee shop together with Damien, Nathaniel and Yna.
It is a nice place, especially if you want a quiet place to read.
Damien is now sitting on a chair in front of me. While Nathaniel and Yna is in another table. Yna wants to sit beside me but the moment we arrived here, Nathaniel pulled her with him and they seated on a table at the corner.
Yna and looked each other often. I was wondering why did Nathaniel take my friend away from me? Does he want to talk to my friend along?
“Hey!” I turned my gaze to Damien.
I didn’t say anything. I just raised a brow at him.
“Aria…” he called me again. “Talk to me. Stop looking at them.”
I sighed. “I’m sorry but why did your friend take Yna away from me?”
He laughed. “Oh, about that. I want to talk to you alone, so I asked Nathaniel to take Yna away from you.”
I’m really confused. “Why? Is there something we need to talk about?”
“Anything! We can talk anything about you.”
My eyes widen fractionally as I stared at him. “About me?”
He nodded. “Yes, I want to know you more.”
“Then ask.”
“So, you’re going to answer everything I’ll ask you?”
I shook my head. “It depends on the question. If I can answer it, why not.”
“Okay! So, do you have a boyfriend?”
Huh? What with his question?
“No, I don’t have. Why do you ask?”
“Because I want to know.”
I couldn’t help it but ask him again why he wanted to know.
“And why do you want to know?”
“Because I like you” he shot back.
My mouth fell open. I look at him dumbfounded. I don’t know if I heard him correctly? But I know he’s not serious. Damn! He’s Damien Santiago, a serial heart breaker.
I feel annoyed thinking that I’m his target now. I laugh in disbelief.
“Why are you laughing?” He asked.
I just shook my head. “I laughed because you said you like me. I didn’t know that quite joker Damien.”
“Why would I joke about something like that? I really like you Aria”
“You like me to be your new victim?”
“What? No! Look I really like you. Actually, I’m falling for you.”
I chuckled. “I saw you with other girls, how you flirt with them and how you throw them away after you’re done with them. I’m telling you this Damien I don’t deserve to be someone else toy. I’m not up for anything like that. I don’t want to be your plaything.”
“Please! Believe in me, I really like you. From the first time, I saw you I feel something special towards you. I just didn’t figure it out sooner because it’s all new to me. I never felt this to anyone before.” He explained.
He looks sincere but I know my worth. My parents didn’t raise me to be like that.
“Why would I believe you? It’s just everything is too fast.” I scoffed.
He didn’t say anything that’s why I took my phone to send a message to Yna. I texted Yna that she should ready and we’re going home.
I have no time to entertaining Damien’s game, I don’t want anything to do with that.
“Aria, please give me a chance. Please, give me at least a benefit of a doubt. I know my past but I know can change for you.”
I looked at his eyes. I want to believe everything he says but I’m really scared.
“Then prove it” I don’t know why I told him that.
His eyes twinkled in joy. “What do you want me to do? Tell me and I’ll do it in a heartbeat.” He holds my left hand.
I pull it away from his gripped and I glance a little at Yna. I saw that she’s ready to leave.
I glance back at Damien again. “If you really like me then you know what to do.” after that I left him and walk closer went to Yna. Nathaniel is about to stop me from grabbing yna’s arm but he didn’t get a chance.
“Aria, what’s with the hurry?” yna said when we got out of the coffee shop.
“Because I don’t want to listen to Damien’s lie.”
“Lie? Care to explain to me everything.”
I sighed. I need to tell her what happens.
“He told me that he likes me. I mean he’s falling for me. Can you believe that?!”
“WHAT?!” even yna was shocked to what he said to me.
“I mean, he can’t be in love with me. He’s a playboy. I think he only wants me to be his new victim. I know I don’t deserve to be a plaything.”
Yna held my hand. “He can still be able to fall to someone aria. He’s still a human with a heart. Regardless of his history, I think he still has a right to fall for someone. At least give him a benefit of a doubt.”
She’s right, I shouldn’t judge Damien because of his past.
She went silent in a second then start to speak again. “What did you tell him anyway?” she asks.
I bit my lip. “Well, I told him he needs to prove it to me that he really likes me.”
Yna chuckled. “Let’s just wait for his next move. At least you gave him a chance to prove his feelings for you.” She smiles after.
“Let’s what will he do.”
“What if he proved that he’s serious about his feelings for you? Are you going to give him a chance to court you?”
I shrugged “I don’t know. Maybe. I like him but you also knew what I want in terms of love or having a relationship.”
Yna hissed and rolled her eyes. “Aria do you know Scott Fitzgerald?” I shook my head. “He says ‘There are all kinds of love in this world, but never the same love twice’ so even you want to have a love story like your parents there’s a big possibility that you can’t have it what they had.”
I pouted. “I don’t care, I will still find that love and I will create that kind of a love story for myself.”
Almost an hour I got home alone. Yna told me that she needs to go home to get some of her clothes before going here.
Kuya gio was busy watching a movie.
“I’m home.” I said and walk closer to my cousin and kiss him on his cheek.
I was about to go to my room he spoke.
“Why did you go home late?” he asks.
“We went to a new coffee shop near the school.”
“With Yna?”
I nodded “Yes, but Yna’s with me…Damien and his friend, Nathaniel”
His eyes widened, “Oh, My ghad couz! You didn’t even invite me. But I just want to remind you that Damien is a playboy. Be careful!” he warned me.
I nodded. “I know!”
He bit his lip. “Just take care aria. Don’t let him destroy you. Don’t be swayed by love too much. Look what happen to my best friend.”
Speaking of that. “Have you heard anything about her?”
He just shook his head.
“None. I’m worried about her.”
I smiled bitterly. “She’s a strong woman Kuya gio. She’s going to be fine wherever she is right now.”
“Yeah! I hope she’s fine. I miss her so much.”
My cousin shed as he went out of the living room and go upstairs.
After an hour Yna came. She eats dinner together with us. We went to my room after that.
Yna fell asleep in my bed. I’m busy collecting the scattered books and notes on the floor when I heard my phone beep.
I pick it up and saw a message. So, I open it to read it.
From Unknown number:
Goodnight Honey. I’ll prove to you tomorrow that I’m serious about my feelings for you. I’m going to make you mine Arianna. I love you. Sweet dreams.
PS. Dream of me, it’s unfair that you’re always in my dreams when I was not in yours. I hope one day you’ll dream about me. It will be a dream come true.
I know it came from Damien.
I can’t help but smile even though at the back of my mind there’s a possibility that he’s only playing me.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
