My wolf, Blaze, won’t rest. I woke up this morning to Blaze panting and prancing about in my head. I ignored him. Of late he had been unbearable, so I thought it was naturally one of his recent episodes.
I pushed Blaze to the back of my mind, eventually completely shutting him out when I heard him mention the word, Mate. What mate? I would never find my mate, and I had given up on a fated mate, getting ready to forcefully mark my chosen mate, Constance.
Speaking of Constance, I hoped she would find her fated mate and leave me alone. She was all over me, she was suffocating me with her presence. Everything went on as usual that morning until I started to perceive a pleasant scent.
“What are we having for breakfast?” I asked Constance, wondering why I was suddenly perceiving nutmegs and blackberry.
“I thought you specifically asked for pudding last night? That’s what you're having. Constance replied nonchalantly without even looking at me.
“So, what’s that other scent? Is anyone baking?” I asked.
Constance’s eyes darted towards me like an arrow.
“What scent do you perceive?” She asked.
“Nutmegs, blackberry, vanilla?” I shrugged.
My mind didn’t go to the fact that my mate was around the corner because I had given up on a fated mate. There had to be someone out there causing me to perceive these scents because, as far as I was concerned, the moon goddess did not allocate a mate to me.
Maybe she forgot.
“Oh, it must be someone baking, yes. Or maybe a flower is blossoming outside.” Constance started to deceive me immediately, just in case I thought of my mate being around.
However, it was funny that the scent lingered throughout the day, even after I left the pack house. If it was indeed someone baking or the scent of a flower, the scent would have left as soon as I left the pack house but, it grew more intense, especially at school.
It became so intense, that I felt the urge to go far away from the school and pack house, just to clear my head and rightfully understand what the bothering scent was.
I let Blaze out, and he returned to my mind with a blast.
“Mate, mate, mate...” Blaze started to yelp.
Mate?
“Blaze, please shut up. I just want to go to my favorite spot in the woods to think. That’s why I let you out.” I rolled my eyes warily.
For fear of being shut down again, Blaze agreed to shut up, but I could still feel his excitement. He couldn’t keep still.
I took a short route with Blaze before the close of school. If I had waited until after school, Constance and my Beta would have glued themselves to me, and I needed time for myself, so I took flight. I ran to the clearing in the woods, where the sun shone intensely, and I took off my shirt and dipped myself in the warm river.
Constance POV
I was not myself throughout the day. Alpha Fredrick said he perceived scents that, from his explanation, were pleasant and inviting.
That could only mean one thing, right? His mate was close by. But, who could it be? I was worried. I needed to find out who was about to take my place as Luna. I had dreamed of being the Luna of Razor pack for so long, and my dream was getting close to being a reality. Fredrick finally spoke about marking me, since the Razor pack had existed long enough under him without a Luna.
Me becoming a Luna was so close, I could smell it, just for him to wake this morning and say he perceived berries.
I laughed with bitterness in my heart. While I was busy being bitter, I also knew that I had to take action if I didn’t want to end up as a disgrace in the Razor Pack. I started to brainstorm. It had to be that one of the young she-wolves had just turned eighteen and found their wolf. If not, how could a she-wolf that existed all this while suddenly appeal to him? The moon goddess did not work that way.
It must be a newly found wolf.
Everyone had gone to school by the time I was able to make sense of my thoughts, so I had to wait until they returned. My heart skipped when I didn’t see Alpha Fredrick at school at the close of the day. Usually, we would go home together, but now he was nowhere to be found. Dread filled my mind.
There was no way I could mind link Alpha Fredrick because he had not marked me, and I was not a Beta or Gamma and the like, so I had to find out what was going on. I started to search the pack house.
“Did anyone just find their wolf?” I asked everyone, and they all gave me the same answer.
“No.”
I looked for Ayra. The last time I checked, she was going to turn eighteen soon, right?
Alpha Fredrick’ POV
I was having one of my favorite moments in the warm river when Blaze became uncontrollable.
“Mate. Mate!” Blaze's voice was loud and clear, and I believed him because I started to perceive the same scent I perceived in the morning. The hairs at the back of my neck became erect. Was the moon goddess playing tricks with me? My mate was around the corner?
I didn’t know what to do but stand in the water and look around me, looking for any wolves around. I was the only one there in the woods, so where was this mate of mine?
I was thinking about this when I sensed something or someone approaching at full speed. I looked toward the direction where the movement was coming from, and I was soon blown away by the person I saw.
My Omega. My Omega was my mate? She froze as soon as she saw me, transformed back to her human form, and then bolted away after staring at me for a while.
