“Ayra!” Maze could not believe it when I turned around and started to run for my dear life.
I heard her wince in pain as I ran towards the pack house. As soon as I saw that I was close to the pack house, I transformed back to my human form and went to my room.
I was panicking. Tears rolled down my eyes as I wondered why on earth the moon goddess hated me so much. How could she have fated me to be mates with Alpha Fredrick? Not only was I a worthless Omega who did not deserve the Alpha, I was in danger of
Constance. If she dared find out that I was her boyfriend’s fated mate, she would beat me to death.
I was still in thought when I heard footsteps coming towards my room. I swallowed hard. That had to mean trouble.
The door of the storage room which was used as my room flew open and I saw not only Constance but her bees. Their eyes looked sinister, and ask for Constance’s eyes, they looked murderous.
“Where have you been all day?” One of Constance’s bees pulled me by my hair and dragged me to the middle of the room.
“I... I...” I stuttered, trying to think of a lie when I felt myself flying across the room. Trust Constance, whenever she slapped me it was heavy, and oh, it stung like hell.
I dared not weep. My whole body was shaking at this point.
“I can smell you. It’s you who found your wolf today, right?” Constance stood over me and bellowed with so much anger, that I wished the world would come to an end.
Tears filled my eyes as I looked at her. The next thing that followed was a heavy beating. Constance stood back and allowed her bees to beat me to a pulp, and just when I thought I could take no more, they suddenly stopped and hurried out of my room.
I was in a daze. What happened? Why did they suddenly stop and run away like that? I was torn between pain and confusion when I heard my wolf growl.
What? Did she want to fight? Maze?
I hoped not. I hoped I had the power to hold her back because if Maze forcefully decided to show up trying to attack Constance, my human body would have been too weak to hold her back. I was bleeding. Also, I was so sure that Constance's huge wolf would descend
on Maze badly.
“Mate...” Maze growled.
Why was she upset? If my mate was around, she ought to show some form of excitement or submission at least.
I heard footsteps coming towards my room again, and I dreaded what would be the reality. More beatings?
“Alpha Fredrick summons you.” One of Constance’s bees came to tell me.
I instantly knew that it was time to be accepted or rejected by my mate. My heart started to pound against my chest like a drum.
Instantly, I stood up and started towards the Alpha’s apartment. The closer I got to the apartment, the deeper I heard Maze growl. I was lost at first until I saw Constance and her bees buzzing around the apartment. That had to be the reason Maze was growling, right? I wish.
I knocked on the door and heard the husky voice of the Alpha command me to go in, which I quickly did. When I entered, the atmosphere of the room made my heart sink.
Alpha Fredrick backed the door and was gazing out of the window. I stood behind him for a split second before croaking fearfully.
“Yes, Alpha...” I said.
Alpha Fredrick lowered his head sadly and then turned around dejectedly.
I, Alpha Fredrick’ of the Razor Pack hereby reject you...” he stopped speaking and looked at me.
“What is your name?” he asked.
Of course, he didn’t know the name of such a worthless Omega like myself.
“Ayra...” I said, already holding my heart as I anticipated the final blow.
“I, Alpha Fredrick of the Razor Pack, hereby reject you, Ayra, as my mate.” He said the words so fast as if he was running away from something, then he hastily walked past me and left me in the room.
My heart smashed into pieces and my wolf howled for dear life. I thought I was going to die. I had often witnessed rejections from other members of the Razor Pack and anytime I saw a wolf in pain after rejection, I always secretly judged the pained wolf. I never imagined that the pain they felt was that deep until this day. I was in the same situation, and my heartbeat was almost coming to a halt.
I was writhing in pain as I turned to leave the Alpha’s room when Constance did it for me by pulling me out.
“Worthless twat.” She looked like the devil as she glared at me deviously. Then, of course, the beating started again. This time, it was heavy. How dare I be the mate to Alpha Fredrick? Constance beat me as if I stole something from the moon goddess herself. As if the pain of rejection was not enough, Constance's beating took me to another realm of pain.
I could feel my wolf retreating. The humiliation was just too much for Maze to stick around, and perceiving Constance's wolf, she dared not show up. If not, Constance would kill us with her wolf.
By now my wolf was too broken to communicate, and all Maze did was whimper hopelessly. I tried to call out to her, I tried to make her stick around and give her hope, but I could not communicate either, as Constance had beaten me into a stupor.
“Get out of this pack. I never want to see you here again or else I will make sure you die and get buried in the dungeon.
