Drake - POV
Mac drove the car as we couldn't stay in one place and risked blowing our cover after the scuffle broke out at the restaurant. We were no longer part of the Silver Canines Pack. The place we were headed to was a neighbor of the Night Pack. I remember Silas mentioning in the meeting that the Night Pack's neighbor was good friends with the Night Pack Alpha.
Yuri was sleeping in the back seat, exhausted from overwork. I tried not to stare at her too much, as I sensed Mac's gaze on me when I looked at Yuri. His gaze held a coldness as if she belonged to him, and I hated it. I pushed it away.
The awkward silence lingered as we stopped just before entering Night Pack territory. "Yuri, wake up," Mac said, moving the car slowly. The guard gestured to stop, and Mac rolled down the window. Yuri blinked her drowsy gaze at the guard.
"Who are you, and what is the purpose of coming to our pack?" The guard asked sternly, his gaze closely studying us. His eyes settled on me for a couple of seconds. I wondered if he could pick up the Dragon, but I had disguised myself as a wolf, thanks to Emily's magic.
"We are here to meet Ted," Yuri said confidently, pulling the guard's attention to her. Ted was recruiting shifters to hunt for humans to run the hybrid test and create more soldiers for the Night Pack.
The guard stared at Yuri with heat, and I had to control myself not to punch his face. I wasn't the only one with such an expression. Mac projected the same, but held a poker face.
"Will you keep staring at me?" Yuri asked calmly, but with a hint of warning.
The guard checked the documents, which were fabricated. He gestured for us to drive inside the Night Pack territory.
We drove to town and exited the car as soon as we parked outside the motel. "Room for three," Mac said to the receptionist. She stared at me for a few seconds, and I was not too fond of the disguise and didn't hide my handsome face.
"Sorry, sir, I only have one room available as the festival is here, and the room is full," the receptionist explained.
"Should we try to search for another room somewhere else?" Mac asked Yuri, who looked exhausted.
"Sir, you won't find any rooms in nearby inns. You can try to inquire there as well. By then, the guest behind you will book the one room," the receptionist said.
"If you don't want the room, please give it to us. I am tired of searching for a room all day," the man behind us said, with his girlfriend beside him.
"Give us the room, please. I will pay extra."
"I will pay triple. Give us the room," I said to the receptionist. The man behind us walked away with his girlfriend, cussing. I glanced at Yuri, who looked a little uncomfortable.
The three of us walked into a spacious suite with three spare rooms. Yuri sighed in relief, and Mac and I looked at her.
"What? I am tired," she said coldly, taking the right side of the room and shutting the door.
"She is always moody," Mac added, walking to her room. I walked to the center room and settled in. The void crept in, but I pushed it away. I had received a threatening letter from Zoro. He was coming for my blood. I would wait for that asshole and kill him.

Mac - POV
I knew Yuri wasn't okay with sharing the room, but we had no choice. We were on a mission. Looking out the window, I could see the streets decorated for the Night Pack harvesting festival. Ted would be available to meet us tomorrow, and I knew Yuri would hate being stuck in the room.
Checking the clock, I realized it was already afternoon. After showering, I got dressed and stepped out of the room. I knew neither Yuri nor I had eaten yet, so I strolled. Drake called room service, and the food soon arrived. The scent of the delicious meal filled the room, and Yuri stepped out of her room with a cheerful smile as she opened the cloche.
"Whoever ordered the food, thank you," Yuri said as she ate. It was good to see her loosen up and not look as lost in thought as she had earlier.
"If you keep eating like that, we'll run out of food," Drake joked as he sat across from her and tried to take his plate away from Yuri's grasp. She let it go, and Drake ate his steak. I sat down next to Yuri and took a bite of my hamburger.
"Should we go out for the festival, Yuri?" I suggested.
"I'm in. We can monitor the surroundings and inform Alpha Silas," Yuri replied, using her business-like tone. I inwardly sighed at her workaholic attitude.
"I'm tagging along," Drake said, determined not to let Yuri and me have any time alone.
"By the way, thank you guys for standing up for me back at the restaurant," Yuri said, not looking at us but staring at her empty plate. Then she walked back to her room before I could say anything. She had been acting differently since she learned I was attracted to her.
I returned to my room to read the letter that Alpha Silas had given me. He had recovered it from my parents' bank locker. All our pack members stored valuable things in one place called Safe Bank, which only Alpha had access to.
The letter read, "If you're reading this, son, we are no longer in your midst. Your dad and I wanted to tell you that you're not our biological son, but an adopted child. We both loved you, Mac, as our own. Please don't hate us for keeping this from you. I feared you would leave the pack and us to find your birth parents. I know it sounds selfish, but I deeply care for you. I hope you forgive your dad and me for holding this secret from you."
I sat in shock, reading my mother's letter. There were further details about inheritance in my name and the money left behind by my parents. I didn't know how to feel after learning such information.

Yuri's - POV
"Guys, come out! We need to inspect the pack," I called out as I changed into a flower dress for the festival. Though it wasn't to my taste, I trusted Elena's fashion sense, and the dress suited the festive colors. As I looked at my heels, I knew they would be unbearable to walk on; I preferred sneakers.
"Can't you be quiet for once? You're always whining," Jane snapped at me. I sighed at my wolf.
"Come on, already. I'm tired of waiting for you two ladies," I grunted. The door opened, and Drake and Mac stepped out of their room. Drake looked sharp in his casual black t-shirt, blue jeans, and perfectly set black hair, though his frown was noticeable at my remark. I averted my gaze, not wanting him to catch me staring at him. My eyes met Mac's, and though he looked handsome in his white shirt and black jeans, there was a sadness hidden behind his smile, which I tried not to react to.
The three of us strolled to the market area, where festive lights and tasty food stalls awaited us, and happiness lingered. Mac and Drake followed closely behind me, making it seem like I had two bodyguards. They were both on alert, hiding their emotions behind their poker faces. Nothing out of the ordinary caught our attention. Was Alpha Silas wrong about suspecting the Night Pack?
Suddenly, a loud noise came from the tower, and the building collapsed as people ran away in panic. We three sprinted toward the incident.
