Yuri - POV
Drake's violet irises stared at me as I surveyed the dining table. I approached him and sat down next to him. "You're alive; Elena was worried about you," I said. Drake snorted. "What?" I asked.
"You just want to keep mocking me with Elena's name," he said, his gaze locked onto mine. I felt hot under his stare.
"I'm not mocking you, just stating facts," I replied, breaking eye contact
And serving myself some food. Mac sat beside me, and we chatted like old friends, despite the weird sensation I felt in the pit of my stomach while sitting between him and Drake.
Elena held a smug smile as if she knew my state. "Elena, wipe that smile off your face," I mind-linked.
"Not when I see the tension between you three. I'm enjoying it," Elena replied. I tried to keep a straight face as Alpha Silas, Elena, and Emily looked on with interest.
"God! Elena, why don't you read Drake's mind?" I growled.
"I did. Meet me in Alpha Silas's room to discuss what I learned. Emily, some things might lead to the discovery of your curse." Elena replied. The dinner ended shortly after. I exited the dining room and walked into Alpha Silas's office, sighing with relief. Sitting between Drake and Mac had been uncomfortable and awkward.
"What's going on with me?" I asked my wolf, wondering why I felt a hot, romantic sensation around Mac and Drake.
"I don't sense a mating or any strings. It's just you turning on the charm, seeing handsome men eyeing you," Jane replied sarcastically.
"Do you always have to be so sarcastic?" I sighed. Jane was no help with this weird tingling sensation throughout my body. Elena and Alpha Silas walked into the room, along with Emily. I looked at the door, hoping Mac would join us soon.
"We need to talk with you first," Elena said, noticing my gaze. We all took our seats.
"Listen carefully, Yuri. I spoke to Abi, the head of the witch clan. She told me that your curse will need your father's blood or a family heritage called the Dragon Stone to be lifted," Emily explained.
"How am I supposed to find my father when I have no name or any lead to find him, whether he's alive or dead?" I asked.
"Silas is trying to get information about your mother from her best friends and some of the pack members who knew her well," Elena added calmly.
"I can investigate my mother's friends and pack. I don't want someone else to do this interrogation," I said. Alpha Silas sighed at my remark but remained quiet throughout the conversation.
"You will go on a mission with Mac," Alpha Silas said. A mission meant danger to our pack.
"The pack is in danger again; from whom this time?" I asked. Elena handed me the file, and my eyes widened in surprise as I read it.
"The Night Pack is involved in illegal business, but there's no specific information about what they're dealing with," I said, turning to Alpha Silas.
"The Night Pack is dealing with hybrids. They're experimenting on humans by mixing their blood with wolves and dragon. My spy told me they had created successful hybrids fighting like pure wolves and dragons. They have created monsters that can be dangerous," Elena explained.
"Mac and Yuri, you will go in disguise and stay among the pack with an immigration certificate I created," Alpha Silas said.
"The Night Pack," Drake abruptly interrupted Alpha Silas's speech. "Zane is the only one who can give his blood for testing, as only two dragons are left." Drake paused, realizing we had all heard his thoughts out loud.
"If I remember correctly, Zane Campbell's father was the rebel who used dark magic on the clan to wipe out dragons and obtain the power of the dragon heart," Mac recalled.
"The dragon's heart is known as the golden heart of our clan. Only a pure wolf-like Elena and Silas can defeat someone with the power of a golden heart. But other shifters and dragons cannot," Drake explained. "Zane's father, Xac, couldn't accomplish his goals thanks to his father killing him before he could. His son escaped when he was my age, and I'm sure he's the one who can provide the blood."
"Earlier, you were worried about an enemy. Was it this Zane Campbell?" Elena asked, using mind-reading magic to read Drake's mind.
"No, there were other enemies who helped Xac. The vampire king Zoro was one of them," Drake revealed, and the room fell silent. Vampires had not been heard of for ages, but they had been involved in killing many dragons to get their blood, which provided greater strength than any other blood.
"I'll accompany Mac and Yuri on the mission," Drake said, and Alpha Silas agreed. The following day, I packed my bag and left my apartment to find the car waiting. Drake was behind the wheel, and Mac was already in the car. Elena and Alpha Silas were already waiting for me.
"Yuri, do you think Drake, Mac, or both could be your mates?" Elena teased, and I shot her a glare.
"Take care, and let me know if you need anything," Alpha Silas said, embracing me. Elena also hugged me and said goodbye. I got into the car, and our journey to the night pack began as we drank a magic potion to mask our true identities and become wolves.
Five hours into the journey, I was quiet because the tension between the three of us was thick. We stopped after driving for two hours to stretch our legs at a local restaurant. Drake and Mac had left me, and I received a call from the office secretary regarding some file discussion.
"You beautiful lady, mind giving us some company?" a man said, surrounding me with a group of men.
"f**k off. If you don't want to die," I hissed. One of the men grabbed me before I kicked him. Mac and Drake immediately sprang into action, killing the men without showing mercy. It was a bloody and messy scene, and they had battered those guys up so severely that I couldn't even recognize their faces.
"Yuri," Drake and Mac extended their hands simultaneously to help me up. My heart froze as I saw an emotion in their eyes that I had never seen before, one of warmth. Was it because of me?
