Evelyn Monroe’s POV
It has been two weeks since Daddy and I have arrived in my hometown of Raven Wraiths Tribe. I still have not met anyone from my family, as Tristan has been a mediator between myself and them. Seeing them during this challenging time, knowing that my nana had fought for my safety against my father. I have no idea what I will do if I ever see my father again. I am not sure if I will ever forgive him. With the things he had done to me, the things he had said.
The abuse from him almost broke me but, nana stepped in and stopped my father from doing more damage than he had already done. Daddy Darry is with Tristan at the funeral home, where we have decided to have nana’s funeral. I have already cremated her body. Her last wish was to have her ashes spread across the blue crest river. The one place my nana had always taken me during the summer. Those days were the best days of my life with my kind, strong nana. With a sigh, I heard a knock at Tristan’s apartment door. I narrowed my eyebrows in thought, knowing that Daddy and Tristan will be a while before the funeral starts.
I make my way to the door and looked through the peephole. I saw my brother Chase outside with his hands in the pockets of her black suit jacket. Taking a step back from the door, I can feel my hands start to shake in fear, and I could feel my heartbeat fast against my ribcage. I took a deep breath in and slowly opened the door. My eyes widen in fear, and I bite my bottom lip, watching Chase stare at me. “Evie. Can I come in?” Chase said somberly. I let out a sigh escape my lips and let Chase into Tristan’s apartment. I turned around and headed towards the kitchen, where I was making some tea. I grabbed two mugs down from the cupboard and poured some lavender tea in both mugs. “Chase, why are you here?” I had said with a quiet voice, handing Chase his cup of tea. We both took a seat at the table across from each other.
“Evie, I understand you don’t want to talk or see any of us. I just wanted to speak with you. I know we never had a close relationship with how our parents would alienate us from you. I should have been a better brother to you. I should have stood up to them and protected you. What I am trying to say is that I am sorry. I am sorry for not stopping our father from hurting you. I am sorry for not protecting you from the harsh reality of our f****d-up family. I hope you have it in your heart to forgive me for not being there for you when you needed me the most.” Chase said. I saw so much turmoil in his dark green eyes. I felt my own eyes water, letting the tears flow down my cheeks. I had to turn my eyes away from Chase. I could not see him eye to eye, not without wanting to bawl my eyes out. I saw Daddy leaning against the fridge with his strong arms across his chest. With that, I jumped off my chair and ran towards Daddy, jumping into his open arms. I quickly wrapped myself around him, crying into his neck. I do not know what to do. “Daddy,” I had said tearfully in his ear, tightening my hold on him, afraid to let go.
Darius Greyson’s POV
When I walked into the apartment, I heard a young man’s voice along with my baby girl’s voice. My eyes narrowed in worry; I made my way towards the kitchen. Entering the room, I quietly leaned against the fridge listening to the conversation. I observed the young man, see that he was dressed in an expensive black suit. His hair was shaved short. I noticed he had a tattoo of a snake wrapped around a rose on the side of his neck. I know that mark. It is to one of the mafia families back in Rosemaiden Valley of the Iron Maiden Tribe. I saw my baby girl run at me with tears spilling from her beautiful green eyes. I opened my arms for her and caught her in my hold. I tightened my arms around her slim waist, placing a tender kiss on her temple.
My eyes narrowed towards the other man in the room, just sitting in his seat, with his mouth wide open, and his eyes had widened slightly. “What in the hell. Who are you? What are you doing with my sister?” the young man had said. I let out a small grunt of annoyance seep through. I quickly left the asshat in the kitchen and carried my sleeping love back into our guest room, letting her have her afternoon nap. As we must be at the funeral home in a few hours.
I left her to nap, leaving my baby girl to rest. I made my way back into the kitchen where I had left the asshat. “Do you not know who I am, boy?” I had said darkly. I let my dominance show in my stance. I crossed my arms across my broad chest, letting him know who he was talking to. I raised one of my eyebrows in question. “Unfortunately, I do not know who you are?” he had said, standing up from his seat at the table. His eyes narrowed in challenge towards me. I let out a deep dark chuckle, shaking my head at this i***t. “What is your name, boy?” I said more calmly, taking a seat at the table across from him. I leaned back in the chair, keeping my arms crossed.
I kept my eyes glued to the young man’s own green eyes. Raising an eyebrow in challenge, letting my dominant nature come to life. I watched him very closely, not letting my eyes waver from his entity.” My name is Chase. Chase Monroe, I am Evie’s brother.” Chase had said with slight annoyance laced in his voice. Nodding my head, understanding what he was saying as I know everything that had happened to my sweet angel. The love of my life, my baby girl. “Let me make this noticeably clear, Evelyn is my baby girl. I am her Dom. More importantly, her partner. My name is Darius Greyson.” I said, with a hint of menace laced in my deep voice.
Watching Chase’s eyes widen with fear. I knew I got him now. I can sense his apprehension and fear. “You have got to be kidding me. Your Darius Greyson? The one who can kill anyone with a blink of an eye?” Chase said with fear laced in his voice. I raised an eyebrow at him, amused with his statement. This was one of the most challenging parts of my past that my baby girl had to know. I was so worried she would leave me and never see me again. Bless her sweet loving heart. My sweet girl said that no matter the circumstances, no matter how many times I would come home from the gym in a bad mood, she will always love me and that I was still her Daddy.
“Daddy Darry, we need to get going, or we will be late to say goodbye, nana.” Hearing my angel’s sweet, quiet voice from the other room. I stood up to my full height, observing the simpleton scrambling to his feet and leaving the apartment in a rush. I chuckled out loud in humour towards the i***t that calls himself brother to my sweet angel. “Daddy! We need to get ready, hurry up and help me please!” hollered my sweet angel. I made my way towards our room, walked up towards my angel, and helped her get into her little black dress. I zipped her dress up. “Baby girl, let me quickly get changed, and we will head out to meet with Tristan before the rest of your family show up,” I said softly to my baby, kissing the side of her head.
Author’s POV
Darius and Evelyn were seated in their seats at the front of the room. No one would expect anything to happen at a funeral. Everyone from Raven Wraiths Tribe was in attendance to say their final goodbyes. Evelyn kept her eyes downcast. Her tears were falling freely down her sweet angelic face. Leaning her head against her Daddy’s larger frame, letting his warmth and dominance help ground her. Darius wrapped his left arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to him. He started to soothingly run his fingers through her bright thick curly red hair.
The head priest started the ceremony of life. Everyone in the room became silent when each family member had gone up to talk about Amelia and how much she was a big part of the community. Evelyn never went up to talk about her nana. She and her Daddy had already said their goodbyes to her loving nana when she was cremated weeks prior. They kept to themselves when the ceremony finished. Everyone had gone into the next room, leaving the loving couple alone in the room. “Daddy Darry. Do you think Tristan is going to read the will now?” Evelyn asked Darius with a gentle tone to her sweet voice. Darius picked his baby girl up into his arms, letting her wrap herself around his large muscular frame. They slowly made their way into the other room, looking for Tristan. When they spotted him at the front of the room, standing at a podium. “Everyone, can I please have your attention. I am Tristan Hainz. I was Amelia’s lawyer and confidant. I will be the one who will read her will. I will ask that anyone who was not a part of Amelia’s family please wait in the next room with the refreshments and food has been placed.” Tristan spoke loud and clear with an authoritative air around me.
Everyone that was not a direct family member left the Monroe family to hear about Amelia’s blessing and her will. One person in the room was beyond angry. Knowing that his sorry of an excuse of a daughter was even here. He had thought she was left out of the dark about what happened to his mother. What really made him angry was that tall, muscular man standing with his stupid daughter in his arms. “Alright, let us continue the reading,” Tristan stated and opened the will. He started to read the will and rights of Amelia Irene Monroe.
By the time anyone gets this, I have passed on to a better place. I am highly disappointed in my own son and the rest of our family. My poor sweet little rosebud, Evelyn, has been abused, beaten, raped, and treated as if she was a pest that needed to be terminated. I loved my sweet rosebud. Her innocence, kind heart and charming personality always brighten up the room.
Nothing made sense when her own family would ignore her. I started to feel so much hatred towards my own flesh and blood, my own son, when I found out he had raped my sweet little rosebud when she was just fifteen years old. I knew I had to protect my rosebud and pray that she will get the love, protection, and life she truly deserves. The last thing I had done was to get my rosebud to the one place she will be accepted for who she was. My time is coming to an end.
I have entrusted Tristan to make sure all my belongings, wealth goes to my sweet rosebud, Evelyn Rain Monroe. I leave everything to my granddaughter, the love of my life. I am deeply sorry I must go and leave you, baby. Just remember my sweetheart, my rosebud. Always keep your head held high, keep smiling when everything feels hard, keep kindness within your heart. Stay true to yourself, my sweet baby girl, my sweet rosebud, my Evelyn, Goodbye sweetheart.
“As the will has stated, Amelia has entrusted Evelyn to everything she owns. Including her twenty million wealth and home.” Tristan said with conviction. “What! That can not be right! Why on earth would my mother entrust her wealth to that wrench!” yelled Mr. Monroe in outrage. Darius quickly placed his baby girl down into a chair. He promptly placed a tender kiss upon her forehead. He turned away from her and made his way towards Mr. Monroe, his baby girl’s deadbeat of a father. Darius clenched his hands tightly into fists. He took a swung and landed a hard punch clear across Mr. Monroe’s face with that in mind. Everyone in the room became silent. “If I ever hear you call my baby girl a wrench again. I will not hesitate to make sure you are dead. Do I make myself f*****g clear?”
Darius stated menacingly. Rage was building up within his veins. He can feel his blood boil from the sorry excuse of a man. “Darius!” Evelyn screamed with worry for her Daddy. She rushed over towards the two men. Evelyn wrapped her arms around Darius’s waist, keeping him in place. She knew his threat was valid. He will kill without a thought.
“David, Crystal, Maria, Chase, Denis. I will never allow you to take away the one thing that matters to me the most. I have never had a good home. I have never had a true family. I am thankful for what nana had done. If she did not help me apply to Sun Valley Crescent Academy, I would not have met Darius. I would not have the family I so wished for. I am incredibly grateful to the woman that nana was. I will never forget what you all had put me through. What I will do, is forgive you all.” Evelyn stated with a strong sweet voice. Evelyn hid her sweet face behind her Daddy’s back, not letting them see her tears. Darius turned around, picking up his baby girl and leaving Raven Wraiths Tribe for the last time. They will never return to this hateful community, this place of hell. They go home and live their lives the way they should be, filled with love, compassion, peace, and long-lasting happiness. They will leave this place altogether.
The End.
