14 Brunhilda hissed and lunged at us. Maddock and Charlie lunged to either side while Tristan and Alex leapt in front of me. Tristan drew his ring hand back and his ring glowed brightly while Alex tensed and growled at the beast that was formerly Brunhilda. The monster drew back and snarled at us before her eyes darted to the front door and window. “She means to escape!” Maddock shouted. Brunhilda bolted for the door, but Tristan threw out his ring hand and Alex leapt into her path. Tendrils shot out of his palm and wrapped around her while Alex grabbed an end of a yarn ball and raced around Brunhilda’s legs. He wrapped her as tightly as the tendrils and when Tristan drew away she toppled face-first onto the floor. A small groan escaped her lips and she raised her head. Her red e
