Into the final!

Looking at Max’s attack that is directed at her, Elica can only accept her fate. The sharp wind blade stopped on its track the moment it was about to slice her neck. She knows that it wasn’t because Max changed his mind, but he gave her time to surrender. Elica raised her hand and surrendered.

“I surrender.”

When two words come out of her mouth, Max feels as if it was an angel speaking. Her voice is so melodious, just like heaven’s song. Moreover, her hateful gaze as she said that while looking at Max immediately charmed him.

Elica can only accept her defeat whether she likes it or not. She didn’t know what kind of trick Max is using to disperse her attack. However, a defeat is a defeat. She wondered if his enemy is a body manipulation hero, would he still be able to cancel their ability and come out victorious?

She is also looking forward to see how he is facing Giovanni later. She has sparred with Giovanni due to their family has close ties to each other. She knows that she isn’t a match for him as anything that she does didn’t manage to touch even the corner of his clothes. His S-rank speed is the real deal that Elica couldn’t handle, although all of her stats are already of C-rank.

That also makes her stare at Max once again. This boy, who seemed to have the average stats for D-rank, managed to come this far and even come victorious when fighting against her. How would he fare fighting against Giovanni tomorrow?

The more she thinks about it, the more she feels being wronged by Max. How come this D-rank hero managed to suppress her ability and come out victorious? Elica then turns her body and leaves without saying anything else.

Looking at that, Max smiled wryly to himself. It wasn’t wrong for him to take advantage of the grey world where he could stop the opponent's power from hurting him. This is a competition after all.

“Frozen Rose versus Air Hero. Air Hero wins!”

When the announcement first sounded in the arena, none of the audience reacted since this result is something that they not anticipate. Max decided to ignore it as he walks out of the stage. His body now is very weary as he has taken some damage from Elica, the frost damage and the heavy mental state after using the grey world.

“Are you kidding me? Frozen rose, whose stats are already at C-rank lose to that nobody air hero?”

“Noooo! My money! I already bet it all on Frozen rose.”

“Haha, it’s your loss. I make a big hit on this. I only wager 1000, but I got 5000 in return.”

“Well, if that’s the case, there is no need to see tomorrow’s match. Child of Light will win for sure.”

“Heh, are you sure about that? Look at today. Frozen rose is sure to win, but she suddenly loses again.”

“Well, it’s 1:20 for tomorrow. Since I got 4000 profit, I don’t mind putting another 1000 for Air hero. Who knows if I could bring my family to eat meat tomorrow?”

The audience goes into an uproar after Max and Elica couldn’t be seen anymore in the arena. It immediately becomes a hit since Max creating such great ruckus.

“So, I’ll be facing him, huh? Well, it is more interesting since I’ve sparred with Elica before, and she isn’t my match. Since he could defeat Elica, he must have something special within him. If everyone thinks that he could defeat her was a fluke, I don’t think the same. After all, I know her ability after sparring with her, and she isn’t someone that you could defeat easily with luck.”

Despite the fact that everyone else is looking down on Max, Giovanni thinks the other way. Because he knows well about Elica’s ability and is now sure that Max has a special something that enables him to come this far in the competition. After all, among thousands of heroes, to come out on top in the final, it wasn’t something possible only with a stroke of serendipity.

Not to mention that along the way, Max has defeated a lot of strong seeded competitors. Iki, Heinrich, Kieran, and now Elica, it wasn’t something that could be achieved with fluke. Giovanni is now looking forward to facing Max despite Max knowing about it.

The first thing that Max did after finishing his match is laid down in the resting area inside his waiting room. He takes out his phone, and naturally, the first person that comes to his mind is Kalina. Whenever he has good or bad news, she will be the first person that Max wants to share it with. After all, she is the closest person that he considers as a family member.

*beep*

It doesn't need for the phone to reach a second beeping sound before the call is picked up.

“Max, what is it?”

“Big sis, I defeated Elica. I’m on the final now.”

“Wow! Now that’s surprising! I didn’t think that you could defeat her. After all, she is a solid C-rank hero on paper.”

“I know, right! At first, I was about to lose one-handedly. However, that ability shows up again. Big sis, this power is coming out more frequently. I want to know what is this power. I think this will helps me a lot in the future.”

Hearing Max explaining about his power, Kalina fell silent for a bit. After all, she didn’t think much about it before as she believes that Max’s power is of wind elements and what happened before is just a fluke. However, this isn’t the right time since he is still in the hot newcomer competition. Right now, what he needs to focus on is doing his best.

Kalina also feel proud about the achievement that Max have right now. After all, it wasn’t easy for him all this time. Struggling alone without parents and without proper hero training in the academy.

“Oh, right! Do you need me to help you heal and recover?”

“If you can do that then it will be great, big sis. After all the United Hero association is so stingy. They didn’t provide medical pods anymore.”

“Well, they also need to watch out for their expense. At earlier stage, it is probably done to make things proceed quicker.”

“You are right, but at least they should provide for the final right?”

“Haha, don’t think too much about it and just come to the office tonight, I’ll help you heal.”
