His Promise

1169 Words
"What kind of joke is this?!" Naya screams towards the heavens, her growls growing deeper by the second. She was so furious and frustrated she felt like ripping the heavens apart just so she could have an audience with which ever god was in charge of her life. "Do you enjoy seeing me suffer?!" She screams at the top of her lungs. "I was fine, just fine with being mateless until you brought him. I was doing ok you know? But no...oh no, you just had to go and bring him straight into my heart and mess up everything I had worked hard for" "All of you seated up there were like, Poor Naya, let's just give her a mate she can't have." The amount of sarcasm dripping from her words could fill up an entire river. The rage she is feeling now makes the silver in her eyes to shine ever so brightly while she casts them upwards wishing she had lasers in them to just scotch it all. If the gods could play such a cruel joke on her why not return the favour. Her mind wonders back to the conversation she had with Greta. .... "Greta, I don't understand. I thought without a mate's mark I was and should be mateless." "Neither do I my child. Like I said before, yours is a very peculiar case. I have never known anyone born in Dome without a mate's mark and you know I pride myself in knowing all and even the nitty gritty stuff that goes on in there." "So what now? It's not like I can go around in search for him even if I wanted to." She looks to Greta for answers because her own mind is totally blank. This piece of news has come as a shock to her. Just when she came to terms with her status this had to happen. The knowledge of being mated is one thing but she is now troubled with his absence. Mates always found each other before their merge and Naya's merge already happened. Greta however is completely lost in her thoughts and is not even looking in Naya's way. "Greta?" "Am sorry about that my child" Greta finally looks at her. "The heart's wish...do you still remember it?" "Yes why?" "Recite it for me." "What?" "Just do it." Naya frowns but she closes her eyes still trying to remember the exact words that she heard at the arena and when she does she recites them to Greta. "I wish to find a place I will feel like I belong and were I will be loved for who I am and not be afraid of being different" "Uh huh..just as I suspected" Greta claps her hands to herself looking like she just figured out something. "I think I got it but am pretty sure you are not going to like what I am about to say." "What is it?" Naya asks nervously. "Remember what I said about how a heart's wish was used to speak to another heart when the two were far apart?" "Yes.." "Well it seems that is the case with you my dear. And from the words you just said it's possible he may not be in our realm or universe." "What are you saying Greta?" Naya's heart is already aching at hearing that she may never get to see the person she has yearned to be mated to all her life. "If he is in a place where he feels he doesn't belong and thinks he is different that place is nowhere near Dome and it's most likely a place where our kind cannot be found." "So you are saying he is in another universe?" "Am sorry my child." "That means I will never get to see him because it is forbidden to cross universes Greta. " her tears are already falling. "Why me...why is it always me that has to suffer like this?" She looks at Greta who is looking at her with a sorry look and her own eyes glossy. .... The lump forming in her throat brings her out of her thoughts and Naya takes a deep breath before she gets in a crouching position. She feels like she has cursed the gods enough and is now tired. She looks down and focuses on her inner self. The battle is still raging within her and she wants some kind of release. Her guardian is ready to bond with its master. She looks up to the skies one more time before she jumps and shoots up aiming for the skies. In her angel form with her large silver wings carrying her swiftly in all their strength. She looks back down as everything below starts to look small and disappear from her view. The thoughts of a life without her mate fuels her desire to keep going as she flies higher. Her muscles are aching as she flies so strongly against the wind but she keeps going. Her heart that has been broken for so long feels like its not there anymore. She closes her eyes as tears threaten to spill. She refuses to cry before the gods that have made sure to punish her time and time again in such a cruel way. When her wings cannot carry her anymore she lets go and falls. She wants to be free, free of everything that has held her. Tears spill out of her eyes like a waterfall and sobs escape her as she continues falling. It doesn't matter anymore. She closes her eyes and pictures those breath taking eyes wanting to see them one last time. She smiles a sad smile as she focuses on their rare beauty. No doubt the owner would be just as beautiful but it doesn't matter now. The finality of everything becoming so real to her. She closes her eyes tightly and waits for what she knows is to come. But then a soft touch on her cheeks like someone wiping away her tears makes her open her eyes. She finds the same blue sapphires staring right back at her. They look at her with so much love and concern it makes her lean into their touch. "Don't cry, everything will be alright. I will find you, I promise." "That voice..!" Naya didn't need to be told twice as she does a complete 180 and lands perfectly just moments before she hit the ground. Her heart is pounding and leaping at the same time. His promise to her just changed everything. She doesn't know how possible it is but she promises to wait for him no matter how long it takes. A smile forms when she thinks of a possible future with the one meant to love her and her heart is content once more. One day soon she won't be known as mateless Naya. She takes a seat and let's the cool air blow over her as she tries to calm herself from what just happened.
