Her Target And Mate

1335 Words
Naya takes another dip in the lake. The cool water surrounding her works it's magic on her skin and her whole body. She feels all the kinks and aches in her joints melt away the longer she stays in the water. She didn't know crossing universes would take such a toll on her body. She has been through many portals before leading her to different kingdoms but the one across worlds just feels like it was meant to kill whoever tried to cross over. For a moment in there she was sure that old man wanted to finish what he started many years ago. It was only when her eyes beheld the water that she knew she had made it. She is glad to find something like this here. She was not sure what kind of place she would be walking into so seeing something familiar put her at ease a little. The place seemed deserted too so it was perfect for her to get herself together after that bumpy journey. While she floats on the lake she thinks through her mission, all the details and strategies. For once she is feeling uneasy about her mission though. something that hasn't happened before. Her father may have assured her that it's for the good of Dome but somehow something still feels off. She can't just put a finger on whatever it is. At first she thought it was because of the presence of that old man but now that she is so far from home that feeling is worse. While she is loyal to her father and Dome she is also loyal to herself. She would never forgive herself for making a mistake and killing anyone who didn't deserve to die. While back in Dome she thought it would be as easy as going in and out she has a feeling this time she may not have all the control she usually has and that makes her more uneasy. Her thoughts are interrupted when a wave of sadness engulfs her and she doesn't understand why. This has no way got anything to do with her but her heart feels very heavy and extremely sad and this feeling is growing and getting closer. She feels like she is immersed in it. She swims out of the water as she scans her surroundings. Its weird for her to experience what she is experiencing in a foreign land. Her emotions don't just go haywire on their own without reason. Something is definitely odd. She sighs loudly. Her thoughts are all over and she needs to get a hold on them otherwise she might end up dead if she is this unfocused. She dives deep into the water once more. She needs to get some focus and this will do the trick. There is nothing like a little pressure to get her mind to focus. Back home she would opt to battle 5 of her best warriors at the same time telling them not to hold back. All that pressure would give her a good release of any unnecessary thoughts as she focuses on staying alive. The deeper she goes into the lake the clearer her mind becomes. With the survival instinct kicking in after being under for so long she is now able to block out all the unnecessary thoughts and only her mission remains. Even though her lungs are burning she is determined. "To pierce your own heart is to pierce your own soul." The words flash in her mind so quickly but she knows she heard them. She opens her eyes forgetting where she is but she is met with darkness. She tries to think back on the words trying to understand what they mean but gets nothing. She holds on to her dagger because she knows she is not alone. For a land without magic this is not supposed to happen. Who ever it is speaking to her is close by. She tries to feel her way around the water but comes up with nothing. But suddenly she feels something and it has nothing to do with the water surrounding her. "How? And so far from home?" But she cannot mistake it. The domenian energy is so unique she can easily pick it anywhere. She quickly swims back to the surface. She can not tell if this is a friend or foe. But whatever the case she can't take chances as she might be in danger. The warrior in her is on high alert and her dagger is already in hand. When her head is above the water she tries to look around but sees nothing. The place is just as quiet as it was before she went into the water. She quickly gets out and she's glad she decided to swim in her clothes because having to fumble to put on her clothes would have been a little difficult while she wants to stay alert and alive. She is about to relax when the sound of water parting in the lake draws her attention. She didn't notice it before but there is someone else in the water and they just came up. She has no time to hide too as any cover is too far away. The only thing she decides is to stay and fight if need be. Her eyes remain focused on whoever it is. When the person looks up she stiffens on her spot when his royal blue sapphires meet her silver ones. This is the most beautiful creature she has ever seen and she blinks so many times just to make sure it's real. He is looking straight at her unmoving and her own heart hammers in her chest. She can't help but bite her lips when the sparkling drops of water on his body makes his wet appearance so alluring. Without thinking she drops her dagger and takes steps towards him. Her mind cannot comprehend how this is possible. Her whole being is being pulled towards him and for the first time in her life she wants to get close to a man. Her, Naya, the feared assassin in Dome just wants to be in his arms. To feel his touch, to be in his embrace, to be loved by him. Despite part of her wanting to be on guard she keeps moving towards those beautiful eyes. The royal blue sapphires are drawing her in and all she wants is to get lost in them. To go all in and never come out. She is a few steps away from the lake when she sees the person come out of the water and start moving towards her. All this time he is holding her gaze and not looking away. With each step that brings him closer Naya feels like she can't breathe. Right now she is not her warrior self, she is just a girl who's just been swept off her feet. And that feeling is everything to her. All the years of shedding tears thinking she would never feel this way are long forgotten. They are now just a few inches apart but she still wants to get closer, she can tell both their breathing is erratic. She is overwhelmed with emotions and her eyes become glossy. This is what she always wanted. His hands move to touch her face and when he does she is undone. Everything in her is on fire. The flames are so intense she just wants to let go completely and be consumed by him. She sees him get closer leaning in, aiming for her lips and her own eyes flap closed waiting to feel those beautiful lips on her's. "To pierce your own heart is to pierce your own soul." The moment those words come to her again her eyes shoot open. Finally they make sense and two things are clear to her in this moment. She just found her target and her mate and before his lips land on her, she runs.
