Silver Eyes

Xander takes a deep breath but the lump in his throat seems to be stuck there unmoving. And no matter how much he swallows, it only feels like its getting bigger. He is shattered. Even after all these years finding out that his own parents gave him..no threw him away is the most bitter pill he has had to swallow. Not the mean words from those kids, not even being treated like a plague by everyone in this town, not the isolation he had endured his entire life. It's knowing that the two people that should have loved him the most decided to just dump him here and that has broken him in ways he didn't think possible. He is a full grown man but right now he is like a little boy left behind crying for his mother and father. Did they even wait for him to be found before they left? Did they even bother to at least wait and see if he got into a good home? All these thoughts are weighing heavily on him. He wonders what kind of people they are if they can leave a child all alone in the woods. He also finds himself appreciating his mother more. If it weren't for her pure heart he doesn't know where he would have ended up. He now fully comprehends just how much she loves him and how much she has sacrificed and is willing to sacrifice just for him. She is surely his own angel. He rides down the familiar old town that he once called home. Nothing has changed much even after all these years. He is getting the same stares he got many years ago as a kid. None of the town folk dare to speak to him. Many believed he was an abomination. Those memories still sting, it's one of the reasons he never wanted to ever come back here. But now learning that this place that he hates so much is where it all began he braves all of it for the sake of his identity. He rides through the small town and goes straight to their old home. He is not sure what he expects to find there but he goes there anyway. Somehow he hopes something will happen since so many things he couldn't explain have been happening to him lately. When he reaches their old gate he stares at it. It looks like it has not been opened ever since they left here. Beyond the gate sits the house he used to call home. Its now been overgrown with plants but he can still picture all the adventures he used to have here as a boy. It used to be his own personal sanctuary until they had to move when everybody didn't want them here. With a heavy heart he gets off his bike and pushes the gate open. He brings his bike through and walks towards the house. It's deserted look matches how he is feeling deep within. All the overgrown plants chocking and blocking out the house seem like his own emotions that are threatening to drown him away. He takes a deep breath as he sits on their old porch and looks at the entire place. He has reconnected to the place and he feels like he never left. As the breeze hits his face his own mind hits him with the one question he did not want to ask himself. 'Who is he?' And right now he regrets having left his mother's place because maybe she could have given him a clue. He takes a hold of his necklace, something that he thinks is the only thing that he has of his past. He brings it to his face and looks at it momentarily. It's a unique piece which he hasn't seen anywhere else. He holds it up to the sun and his name shines under the sun rays. If he really did come with it here then at least he has one thing to be thankful for. It means he got to keep his name and somehow he feels connected to his origins by it. He gets up and decides to walk over to the lake. As weird as it is he just got a strong desire to walk over there. It is just a few metres from the house. He is still surprised by his need to go over even though that is the main reason he came here. The lake used to be his favourite play area even though that drove his mother out of her mind because she always thought he would drown. When he gets to the edge of the water he smiles looking at how inviting it is, something to definitely cool his troubled soul. He doesn't waste time as he removes the extra layers of clothing on him and gets in. His body instantly cools down when it comes in contact with the water and he lets out a sigh of relief. It feels like heaven and for a moment he just lays there floating and doing nothing else. A smirk crosses his lips when he decides to do the one thing that would threaten sending his own mother to the emergency room. Just as before when he was a little boy he decides to dive down deep into the water. He always did feel like he was treasure hunting and he loved the thrill it brought him. Even the near death experience when his lungs would burn screaming for air was something that excited him. He goes further deeper than he had ever gone before and the strength in his body surprises him when he maintains his speed. When he feels like he has gone as far as he can he lets go and floats to the surface as the water carries him gently. By the time he breaks out on the surface he feels a sense of freedom that he didn't have earlier and something else. Something that is pulling at him like he was metal to a magnet. It's so strong it feels like it's pulling him out of the water. He wipes his face so that he can clearly scan his surrounding and when he opens his eyes they fall on a figure that instantly makes his heart speed up. There is no doubt in his mind that it's a girl with the wet clothes that are hugging a very beautiful body. He looks up to her face and he feels like his dreams just came true. Those eyes from his dreams are staring right back at him and they are sparkling like the sun on droplets of water. All his anguish has disappeared like dew after the sunrise. He sees her drop whatever she had in her hand and begins to walk towards him all the time holding his gaze. He on the other hand remains unmoving as he can not seem to look away from her. She is just a few metres away from him when he decides to come out of the lake and walk towards her. From all the weird stuff that has been happening he is not sure though if this is real but he doesn't care. All he wants is to get to her, to be close to her and to feel her touch. They are now just inches apart and his breathing is erratic. He doesn't understand why he is reacting this way. Girls never really interested him as much but this one has captured his whole being. He feels like she is the one he has been waiting for. When he sees just how taken she is too he leans in. It just feels right to capture her lips right this moment and when her eyes flap shut he takes that as a yes. He closes his eyes too as he moves gently savouring the moment but before he can touch her lips he feels her move so quickly he is forced to open his own eyes. And before he can register what is happening, she is running deep into the forest and his first instinct is to run after her.
