Levi's Point Of View I walked into the house holding her hand. We were in the kitchen and I hated it. She kept it clean but it was falling apart. The whole house was and she deserved better. "Anywhere to sit?" I asked as I took in my surroundings. "I, I, I don't really have guest. We can sit on the floor." She said as she pointed to the floor. I sighed and found a spot on the floor and sat down, pulling her down with me. She leaned into me as I said, "I want you to come live with me at the palace." Kayla's eyes grew wide. "I can't do that," She whispered with fear lacing her voice. I squeezed her hand and said, "You can and you will. Your mine." "Dragons and humans can not be together. It is the law." "And I am the prince. What I say goes and I hate the fact that my mate lives like this and is treated the way she is. I want you with me," I said as I pushed the hair away from her, exposing her neck, allowing me to kiss it. She shivered and I smiled. "I can't. It's not right." I could sense her fear and had no clue how to ease it, but all I knew was that I wanted her. Needed her. "I will make it work and I will protect you." Kayla looked me in the eyes and I could see tears begin to form. "How?" She whispered. "Easy. I would keep you close to me and any who dare to challenge me would have to deal with me. You do not belong here, you belong with me." The tears began to fall and I couldn't help but to put her into my lap and hug her. "I am so tired." "I know." "I don't think you understand how tired I am." "Explain it to me," I said as I hugged her tighter and took in her scent. She did not say anything as she rested her head on my chest. I ran my hands through her hair hoping she would come home with me to where she belonged. As I waited for her to say something, I felt her breathing even out and I kissed her head. "We will go home now," I whispered. I carefully stood up, trying not to wake her, and once I was on my two feet I walked out of the house. I could not transform into my dragon because if she woke up and freaked out, then she could get hurt. So I walked. As I walked through the village, people began to whisper but I just ignored them, but once I walked up to the place, I knew the council would get word of what I was doing. Thankfully, I was not met by any of them but the staff saw me holding her. I walked up the stairs leading to my room and, once in my room, walked over to the bed, placing her on it. Her beautiful brown hair spread across the pillow and I just smiled. In the distance I could hear the sound of people approaching and even though I wanted to lay with her, I knew it was time to address the problem. She was mine and I would claim her even if it meant I would lose my throne. I walked out of the room, gently closing the door. I walked to the end of the hall and waited as the footsteps grew louder. I leaned against the wall and smiled. Just as my father rounded the corner, I said, "Hello father, Is there something I can help you with?" My father stopped, causing the council members behind him to stop. "What is this about you bringing a human servant here to your room none the less?" I smiled and looked at my best friend. The look on his face was nothing but seriousness at this point, "Who I choose to bring to my bed is my choice." I crossed my arms over my shoulders. "You know the rules about us and humans." "And what are the laws regarding mates?" I asked, as I smirked. I could hear a few gasps as the thought of a human and I being mates. My father's face turned red. "We do not mate with humans." "Well, too bad. If you do not like it, then too bad. I will take her and leave. She is my mate and I choose her over the damn laws." I could feel my father's anger, but before he could respond, Dravin said, "Perhaps we all meet tomorrow and discuss this. The emotions flaring will only cause damage instead of resolving this issue at hand." "I agree," another council member said. "Fine," my father said and then looked at me with narrowed eyes. "You need to think of what is best for our race and not with your dick." I smiled and turned around. If I spoke, nothing good would come of it. As I approached the room, they were walking down the stairs talking. I knew that it was about what they planned to do. Knowing my father and him, the council were looking for a way to banish my mate or kill her, but I had a better idea. I walked into the room and looked at her sleeping. I pulled my shirt and pants off and climbed into with her. I laid on my back and pulled her to me, taking her scent in. Closing my eyes, I let sleep take over. "What the hell," I heard my mate say as she shot up. "Good morning," I said as I opened my eyes and looked at her. "I said I didn't want to be here." Her eyes grew wide. "Your father has to know by now I am here." "He does." "He is going to have me killed." I growled. "He will not and I have an idea to stop him from doing just that." She crossed her arms over her shoulders and said, "And what is this glorious plan?" I smiled and ran my hand over her arm, causing her to shiver. "We mate and show everyone that we mean business." The look of shock on her face caused me to smile. "Will you make me the happiest man and mate with me?"
