CHAPTER FIFTEEN When she went downstairs early the following morning, Ariel found Max in the kitchen. She stopped for a moment, unsure of what she should do next. The man glanced briefly at the young woman. The shadows under his eyes told Ariel that Max hadn’t slept too much that night. Her heart cringed at that thought, but the woman tried not to show any compassion, afraid that she would start the conversation from the night before.
