CHAPTER TEN Ariel couldn’t fall asleep. She lay in bed and listened to the noises of the night. The young woman had always found it difficult to sleep in a new hotel room or when she went to visit friends for the first time. Now, besides that, the fear kept her tensed, as well. The young woman didn’t know what to do. She believed that Max would try to keep her safe. The man seemed determined about that. Still, that took care only of that night. Ariel couldn’t move in with him, and once alone at her place, she didn’t know what she could do to protect herself. Her brother didn’t seem to care about what happened to her, which was somewhat expected. They might not share the same looks, but they shared the same outlook on life and the people around them. Ariel could hardly find guilt with hi
