The Intrusive Mate

I kept staring at him. Was it possible? I never expected to find my destined mate here. I didn't know what I was supposed to do. Could I reject him? This is the cruelest thing you could do to a werewolf, so I was screwed. I couldn't do something like that to anyone.

We were gathering a crowd now. Everyone was watching us, apparently waiting for our next moves. Suddenly the man just turned around and went into the forest again.

I felt strange. Like I knew him for years. And the pull towards him was very strong. I was standing in my place for a few seconds longer when someone snatched my hand and dragged me to the pack house. It was the Alpha. His jaw was clenched and his expression darkened when he looked down for a second. He opened the door to his office and nearly threw me in the room.

"Tell me now, what you're going to do?"

I began to massage my elbow, where his hand had left an imprint, and I stared nervously at him. "What do you mean?"

"You're the mate of my brother, Joseph. Are you giving up your plans to become Luna now? Because I swear if you don't ..."

"What do you mean giving up my plans? I already told you, I'm not willing to be the Luna. I had to come here, not because I wanted, but because I had to."

"Whatever. What are you going to do now?"

I looked at him frowning.

"That kind of depends on your brother, doesn't it?" The Alpha walked slowly to stand in front of me, we were just inches apart, his eyes were boring at mine.

"You will accept him. And If he tries to reject you, you'll make it impossible. You'll be together." I stared at him with disbelief.

"What do you want from me? To force him to accept me, even If he doesn't want me?"

"My brother has been living like a dead man since the accident three years ago. He lost the woman he chose for his mate, if anything can bring him back to life, it must be his destined mate. I never dreamed he would meet you, but now that we have such an opportunity to bring him back to life, I will not miss it. I will do whatever is necessary, believe me, I would do anything. You choose are we gonna do it the easy way or ... "

"So you're threatening me now? What would happen, If I refuse then?"

If it was possible, he came even closer. Our noses were almost touching. My breath hitched, I could feel the power radiating from him. In his eyes, though I saw disgust and hate.

"You'll disappear. But not now. First, I'm gonna make your life miserable, then I'll kill you. Or maybe I'll make you a rogue to make your death slower. Just don't try me. If you think my brother would save you, think again. He is in a bad place right now and he won't care even If the earth stopped spinning."

"I get it, ok. But I can't promise anything. I'm not a magician." He finally took a few steps backward and I breathed normally again.

"I think you don't get it, after all. I don't care what you're gonna do, but success is a must. I want a mating ceremony to the end of the month."

"ARE YOU CRAZY? We ARE at the end of the month!" He looked me a little pissed off, probably because of me screaming, but was he serious?!

"Exactly. I want a mating ceremony as soon as possible." He then gestured for the door."Better get to work. He usually sleeps in a cave near the west borderline." I walked to the door when his voice stopped me again."Oh, and don't forget to take a shower, before you go to him. Nothing's like the first impressions." I looked at him like he was the biggest i***t in the world.

"He already saw me. In fact, I look like hell thanks to him, so..."

"You look like hell naturally, now go and get your work done." I left the room feeling my tears flowing down my cheeks. Just my luck. And I thought It was bad in my pack.

Thirty minutes later I was looking for this cave the Alpha-bastard had told me. Maybe I could call him Bastard in my mind. Nobody would know. With his attitude, it wasn't surprising that he doesn't have a mate. Maybe his destined mate saw him and died in her place in horror. You could tell what kind of a male he was just as you look at Alison. They were born for each other.

I better focus on my task though, before the sun goes down and I get caught by a vampire again. I thought I saw a cave and I strode in that direction. I couldn't even imagine what Joseph's been through. I would behave exactly the same If I was in his shoes. Which was making my job much harder.

When I neared the cave, I sensed his scent, it was very good. I could use it for perfume. I was almost in front of the entrance when he got out and waited for me, watching me carefully. We stood two meters apart, eyeing one another carefully. I couldn't read his expression. His face was absolutely blank. His black eyes were serious. I jumped when he started talking.

"So you came. I could see you are as interested in this mating thing, as I am. So let's finish with it quickly. I, Joseph Tash, reject you...what was your name?"

"Aaa, Violet Atley." He smiled in my obedience and started again.

"I, Joseph Tash, reject you, Violet Atley, as my mate."

I felt hurt, of course. It was just my luck. "Son of a bitch." I couldn't stop myself. Yeah, I didn't want a mate, because I wanted to live among people, but...I always thought I would give it a chance If I happen to meet him. It's just...there is no reason to even try with him.

He laughed at my remark, then looked at me surprised and suddenly told me."I haven't smile, let alone laugh at something for three years, but you're something... Don't forget to accept it though, or you'll feel that way much longer."

"I, Violet Atley, reject you, Joseph Tash, as my mate." I felt better when I said it too. I suddenly realized I had blown my weapon. I was that good at missions.

"You know, as much as I don't want to bother you, you owe me. And I mean big time. Your brother is on my tail. And If he finds out we're not mates anymore, he will kill me. So...Could you...not saying the truth for a little while? I'd be gone in a few days." His eyes darkened when I mentioned his brother and I was certain that he would blow me off.

"What did he want from you?"

"To be with you. My love of a destined mate to heal you and that kind of stuff."

He raised his brows."So, you don't want to heal me."

I looked at him very seriously.

"I'm sorry for what happened to you, but I think that If it's possible for you to overcome it, only you can do it. I want... I want a simple life. You and your tragedy are too huge for me. I hope someday you'll cope with it though."

He observed me for a while and nodded."I don't meet with anybody. So don't worry, your secret is in good hands."

He was about to get into the cave.

"Wait. It won't be that easy. If...we don't see each other, how I'm gonna convince him we're really still mates?"

"You seem pretty impressed by him. Don't worry, a barking dog never bites."

"I'm not afraid of your brother, but still... I'm homeless and without any money or property. If he banish me, I don't know what I'd do. Well, I would handle it somehow, but why the troubles?"

"You females certainly know where to hit. Ok, I'll help you. You were my mate and I feel somewhat responsible for you." I raised my brows and waited for him to continue.

"You can come here. You can say that you're coming to see me. But, Violet, that would cover only a couple of days. Maybe three. And then? They could sense you're not marked. And I'm certainly not marking you just for the sake of your escape."

"Of course, I know."

I had to think. Three days at most. I certainly couldn't stay here anymore. But what will Alpha David and Luna Aurora think? I could leave them a note... Ridiculous idea, I know, but is the least I could do. In these three days, I could find a place to live, gather my things, and made a pretty good escaping plan...

"Would you help me to..."

"I would. Just think about what do you want and I will help you. It's the least I could do for you, former mate." I smiled at him and then looked around. The sun was setting. I thought about the vampire and shivered.

"Would you mind If I sleep with you in the cave? I mean, not with you, but in your cave?"

He just looked at me and shook his head in denial. I slight smile crept up his face. He turned his back on me and got into the cave.

I looked around again. Well, I better get going.
