Violet POV I don't remember ever moving faster than I do now. When I saw the lights from the headquarters, I already had the feeling that countless eyes were following me and I ran at full speed. I stopped right in front of the entrance of the pack house. As I was about to get in, a figure stepped in front of me, blocking my way. Without even looking who was it, I just apologized and moved around to get in. But the figure moved with me and again blocked my way. I raised my head up to see who was pranking me. It was a male, who was now grinning at me. "Miss Intruder, right? How do you liking it here so far?" I stared into his mocking eyes. "Don't like it much, keep bumping in the wrong people." He laughed and then let me get inside. What was wrong with them, I keep asking myself. I just had to find the Alpha-Bastard now. Well, It really was a fitting nickname. I felt more at ease when I called him like that. And less intimidated by him. I went to his office, hoping to find him there. It was late, so it wasn't likely, but I didn't know where else to look for him. I knocked, but no one answered. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. I considered going to his room, but...It was awkward enough when I had to be in his presence. It would be stupid to go to his room and be alone with him. Not that he would let me in, I laughed at that thought. Maybe I should get to work and plan my escape, instead of looking for him. I would leave the talking for our next encounter. I went to the kitchen and greeted the omegas there. They didn't even acknowledge me and I wondered who should I ask for a little something to eat. Apparently one of the omegas saw me looking at the fridge because she said. "Alpha said you first must talk to him, and then eat. If he says so." On her last words, the other three females laughed. "Did he said where I'm supposed to find him?" They giggled. "He said he'll be in his room." I sighed inwardly. I rolled my eyes at their giggles and I marched to his room. I knocked, hoping he won't be in, or he would be asleep, but It was just my luck... He opened the door and pulled me in impatiently. There was a towel on his waist and his hair was damp. "So, what happened?" "Nothing much. He said that he is not interested, but didn't reject me. He said after I asked him, that I could go to the cave again tomorrow. To see him." I had to add the last words because he was just staring blankly at me. Was my lie that obvious? I thought on my way to his room that I should stick to the version "good things take time". If I could make him believe Joseph didn't reject me and that there was hope for us, that just would take more time, he would let me be for a while and I would be able to escape easily. Suddenly he leaned to me. "He rejected you." It wasn't a question, It was a statement. I panicked. "No, I told you. He told me he's not interested, but I begged him not to reject me. After we talked, I asked him If I could go to the cave tomorrow and he agreed." I said in one breath. He kept looking skeptically and I sighed. "What did you expect? To express his never-dying love to me? The male experienced such a tragedy, give him a break." He raised his brow. "You're very understanding. And you're not bothered at all that your destined mate is grieving for another female and doesn't even want to try with you?" I almost got caught on the hook. "Why would you think that he doesn't want to try? If he didn't, he would have rejected me, wouldn't he?" I put my own hook for him to peck. And he didn't disappoint me. Poor man. He thought for a minute. "Then you're still in the game. Remember, I want a mating ceremony very soon." I shut my mouth tight before I could protest. I'll let him believe that in three days, he would have a mating ceremony. I smirked. In three days I would be gone.
