Mason POV
If she thought she could blindfold me that easily, she was crazy. I watched her small, but round ass, as she was walking for the door. "You should eat something. Put some meat on these bones or you'll start to scare my pack members soon." She looked back at me, above her shoulder angrily and I tried as hard as I could to suppress my laugh. I was mean, I know, but I didn't know what to do when all I could feel around her was intrigued. Yeah, I was interested, but I was trying to ignore it. I just couldn't lie to myself anymore. She was my brother's destined mate and f****d me If I was going to blow this chance for a little time in the bed.
The next morning, after I took a shower, I left my room, get to the kitchen to have some breakfast, and then left for her room to see If she still was in there. I didn't sleep much, I was so excited that I finally found a way to reach my brother, that I got an idea.
I would go with Violet to the cave. I haven't talked to him for months. Every time I'd try, he won't even look at me, let alone speak to me. I'm pretty sure Violet was the first one, with whom he had talked since he was in that cave. And probably he won't be able to brush me off when we had to discuss their situation.
I was about to knock when the door opened and not Violet, but Alison walked out first. I furrowed my brows when I saw her expression becoming nervous. Then Violet came out too. She seemed in good health, so at least nothing physical happened. My wolf Gray was annoyed at Alison too. It was time to cut her off.
"What was your business in her room?"
She looked at me frowning and with thoughtful eyes, then smiled and said. "Females' secrets, darling."
Yeah, I wasn't buying it.
"Try again." I glanced at Violet, who just rolled her eyes dismissively.
"Relax, I know she's your brother's mate. I just wanted to ask her how is your brother."
"Since when do you care? And for you is Alpha Joseph." She frowned irritated.
"Violet, I came to tell you I'm coming with you." She looked confused and frowned slightly. "Where?"
"To see my brother."
Violet POV
I stared at him incredulously. "Why?"
"I don't need a reason to see my own brother."
"You want to check on us?" He raised his brows.
"Do I have to? I just want to see and talk to my brother, I...I haven't seen him in months, Violet. Not that is your business, but since he talk with you, maybe you could give me a shoulder." He looked at me almost looking pleading. I frowned at his acting. He was the rudest werewolf I have ever encountered.
"I would come too." We both looked at Alison, who last spoke.
I sighed with exasperation. "Why you?"
"I don't have to give you an explanation."
Alpha Mason raised one brow.
"I'm curious too."
"Mas..., Alpha, can't I come? Don't you think that the whole pack is interested in Joseph's health?"
"You'll see him another time. Let's go, Violet."
He took my elbow and strolled out.
We walked in silence through the forest. When we reached the cave, we saw Joseph was out, all naked. He visibly tensed, when he saw us. I said to him apologetically.
"You don't mind I came with your brother? It's not like it was my call." I felt the angry look of the alpha on me, but I didn't care. Joseph was my ticket to freedom and I won't let his brother ruin our agreement.
They were now eyeing eachothers. We fell into an awkward silence when Joseph just turned around and aimed for the cave entrance.
"Wait, Jo! Please, talk to me."
I felt a little bad for the Alpha because I could see in his eyes that he really loved his brother.
"If you want, I could take a walk." I aimed my question in Joseph's direction. But then I remembered for the vampire and changed my mind." Or not." I was glad It seemed he didn't want to talk to his brother. He hesitated for a moment.
"I have nothing to tell you...brother. You said it all when you chose a side three years ago." He was about to leave again.
"I made a mistake, please listen..."
"Why? Because she's dead and no longer a problem for you all? You could have pretended to be a supportive brother If you knew what would happen. I'm glad you didn't and I know your true opinion."
"Yes, I don't like the vampires. Especially Zyier. But I..."
"I didn't mate with Zyier."
Alpha Mason went silent.
"I know. If you'll just listen to me..."
"Would you leave me now? You too, Violet, you come here later. Alone." He then walked in.
Alpha Mason ran a hand through his hair. He looked quite disturbed. I didn't dare to talk.
We silently strolled through the forest. I wasn't sure If he even remembered I was with him. I gasp in surprise when I saw Alison approaching.
"You're leaving? But..." She stared at the Alpha and when she saw he didn't even acknowledge her, she just strolled next to us.
Suddenly I saw three figures ahead of us, who was approaching. I turned to look around and saw three more behind. I stuttered.
"Aalphhaa...."
Alison glanced at me and when she saw my face, she immediately looked around. The sight of the vampires made her scream Alpha's name and he finally took notice. The vampires were at about 10 meters distance, but they slowly moved toward us. They knew they had an advantage. I felt paralyzed by fear. Alison and Alpha could turn in their wolf forms and run away.
I couldn't. I was practically a goner.
Perhaps Alpha Mason thought the same because he glared at me with concern. He quietly told us to stop here and he took a few steps ahead. All the vampires marched in his direction and before he turned, he shouted at us to go to the quarters. Then, in his wolf form, he takes a defensive stance. Alison turned in her wolf and she and Alpha Mason looked at each other for a few seconds. I guess they're mind-linking and then Alison runs ahead. I started running myself, looking back every few seconds. He was now surrounded.
I stopped in my tracks, thinking what should I do. I couldn't just leave him here. He may be a mean d**k, but I knew he would never leave me like that. I circled them, running back to the cave. I shouted for Joseph to get out and when he did, I quickly explained the situation. He immediately turned in his wolf and ran. I went back, not listening to his command to wait for them in the cave.
When I neared the place, where we encountered the vampires, I jolted to a stop.
It was full of werewolves. I guess Alpha Mason had mind-link his Beta and my terrifying return to the cave was unnecessary.
The six vampires were lying probably dead. Or I hoped so. I looked around for the Alpha and when I saw him, my eyes went wide. He was all in blood. He was in his human form and was lying on the ground. I ran to him and sit on my knees, gently stroking his face at the process. His eyes opened and we stared at each other.
"He'll be fine, don't worry, miss Intruder." I looked at the male, who was now standing beside me and It was the same male, who was pranking me at the door last night.
"And you're?"
"The Beta, Simon. Nice to meet you. And your name is? I guess I can't call you miss Intruder anymore. You're Alpha'mate." Confusion made me flustered.
"I'm not."I looked at the Alpha, who was watching me intensely. "I..."
"I meant alpha Joseph." He grinned at me and then winked at the still lying Alpha and took off.
"Thank you." The Alpha said. I looked at the ground, I wasn't used to his nice behavior.
"For what?"
"You came back and call Joseph when you knew you're easy prey. Very brave of you." I thought to just brush off the compliment, but I wanted to get out of there, so I just muttered a thank you and marched for the headquarters.
I had to start with my escaping plan. Now.
