Chapter 6
The TowerThe tower’s appearance was both true and
false, much like those that occupy it. Yes, you could see the black
tower, you could touch it, and you could even take a mallet to the
brick. But its outside appearance did nothing to give support to
what existed inside.
The single turret stood four stories tall.
There were no doors to the interior and you could not see a single
window. No castle, wall or mote surrounded it. It was simply a long
black spire jutting out of the mountains.
The locals called it ‘The Tower’ and avoided
it like the plague. For everyone knew that inside that lone black
pinnacle lived the cult known as the Red Robes. The mystical sect
of wizards, sorcerers, and warlocks that used magic to shape the
world around them.
No one asked how an arm
