Kennedy had never seen Willow drive as fast as she did that night on the way to Providence Hospital. She thought about an old adage her mom used to say: Trials and blessings always come in threes. With Carl on the ventilator, Woong kidnapped, and Kennedy about to lose her job as a TA, the first half of the proverb had certainly appeared true. Kennedy was grateful to receive some good news for a change.
They got stuck in rush hour traffic and got to Carl’s room in the ICU right after they took out his breathing tube. Technically, visiting rights were reserved for immediate family members only, but Sandy talked the sympathetic nurse into letting Kennedy and Willow come in if they promised not to stay long.
