Walking in after a lot of arguments with my grandma's security.. the one who loves my luggage a lot, he finally let me in.
"Granny, don't be at home yet please." I repeat twice to myself before walking in.
Stepping in, I look round to be sure that granny isn't around. Removing my shoes, I raise my feet and stand on my toes. Tiptoeing without breathing and sighing in relief when I get to my room and there's no sign of anyone at home.
"Thank goodness." I say opening the door and I get the shock of my life when I meet my granny sitting on my bed with her arms folded on her chest.
"Where have you been Ava?" She asks with a stoic expression and I flinch a bit.
If you haven't noticed yet, I'm legit scared of my granny.
"I um… you know, I..." I stop stammering when my granny smiles.
"Ava, I missed you so much. You never called and you didn’t even pay me a visit." She says standing up and moving close to me.
Oh God, don't let her move too close to me. I might smell of that arrogant rebound.
"Granny, who said so? I always followed you with my heart." I say and she laughs.
"Don't be too mad at your parents. I don't know why my son is like that and my daughter-in-law..." She trails off when I hold her shoulders.
"I don't want to talk about them and granny, I want to change." I pause walking to my bed and prop my butt on the bed.
"I need to change everything. Not only my attitude, but also my appearance. Don't be surprised if you see me in hours and you do not recognize me." I add.
"Will changing that make you look at yourself differently?" She asks.
"Yes granny," I look at her and she sighs.
"a lot." I add.
"Okay, Ava. No matter what, you're always my granddaughter." She says and I hug her letting the tears I didn't know I was holding fall.
"It's okay, it's okay." She says patting my back and I wipe my tears.
"Thank you so much granny."
"You're welcome and this is past noon, did you eat?"
I haven't eaten and I'm not even craving for any food right now, all I can think about now is the stupid one night stand I had and my change.
"Yes granny, there's a newly opened noodles shop thirteen streets away from here." I reply and she smiles before leaving my room.
Dropping my shopping bags on the floor, I fall flat on the bed and adjust myself to face up staring at the colored lights of my room.
‘You kissed me first at the bar and you were seducing me don't you remember?’
His words play in my head again and I place my hand over my mouth as I let out a frustrated muffled scream.
Standing up, I remove everything I set up for a change from my shopping bags and set them on the nightstand.
I move for the door and lock it.
"Melanie Ava Brown, here's our change." I say staring at myself in the mirror.
I take the scissors on my dresser and move it to my lovely waist length hair.
