Is He Better Than Us?

Marcus and Lucas

"Did you think Rose was acting so weird? She does not hang out with us, never talks to us, she ignores us like we are strangers… Why is she acting like this?" Marcus asked Marcus when they got into the classroom.

Marcus looked at Rose who was keeping eyes on her books. They bring her back to class. She got back to her seat and began to study. The professor was going to kick her out of class by coming late. But Lucas gives him a dead gaze that makes that old man shut up. No one can bully their friend Rose. The whole school knew about this.

"I was dying to know this too. She changed her clothing style and put on that back mask. That f**k s**t makes it hard to find out her expression. We need to do something…." Lucas said, holding his anger.

"How about that new friend of hers? We met in the morning with her. Do you remember? We will ask him. I'm damn sure he knows the reason behind Rose's muted behavior." Marcus said in a low tone.

"Or he is the reason she stopped talking to us." Lucus tightens his jaw in anger.

"You may be right…" Marcus nodded his head understanding.

Flashback

As they reach school. Lucas was one to recognize Rose very quickly. Rose turns to leave, but her eyes meet Lucas. First, Lucas tried to remember her, then he pointed at Rose as he said something to Marcus. Marcus also looks at Rose and he looks surprised.

“It's that Rose?” Lucas asked for a double-check.

“Yes, she is back. Let's meet her. I miss her so much. She was abroad for f*****g year away. Away from us.” Marcus said to Lucas in a hurry.

“Yes, I want to take revenge for her missing days and leaving us without telling us,” Lucas said a cocky smirk on his face as he stared at Rose's eyes widened in shock as she saw them.

But before they moved forward they saw Rose grab a guy's arm who was standing beside her.

“Who is that guy? Why is she dragging him like that?” Lucas frowned as he saw Rose dragged that guy with her.

“Maybe, her boyfriend.” Marcus said as they walked to them.

“She can't have a boyfriend. Not until I passed that guy.” Lucas said unhappily.

"Rose, don't drag me like this." The guy tried to say.

"ROSE!!" Marcus and Lucas call her name from behind as they run to her.

Rose didn't stop, just walked forward. But Marcus runs fast and jumps in front of them to stop them. Rose just looked at him in panic. As she steps back her back hits Lucas's hard chest.

"Watch out, dear Rose! Why are you running from us?" Lucuse held her both shoulders from behind and asked,

Rose snapped his hands from her shoulders and she hid behind the guy. Lucas and Marcus were shocked to see her instant reaction. They look at each other with questioning eyes, and they look back at Ros,e, who still hides behind that guy. So now their focus turns to that guy.

"Who are you? What is your relationship with Rose?" Lucas asked Kiran in displeasure.

"Rose, why are you hiding behind him? Did you forget us? Why are you hiding from us?" Marcus asked in a surprised tone.

"She is not hiding from you two. She just doesn't want to talk to you, don't you understand this?" That guy said in a serious tone.

Lucas's fest tightened the ball. His anger came back. He didn't like that guy to talk to them like that.

"Who are you? And why are you answering on her behalf? If she doesn't want to talk to us then she will tell us that. You don't need to poke your nose in between our conversation." Lucas said confidently and looked at Rose.

Rose writes something on her iPad and shows it to them.

"What is this? I don't want to be with you both anymore. I'm breaking our friendship. Please, stay away from me. Rose? What is the meaning of this? Breaking our friendship? Why did you write something like this, Rose?" Lucas read it loudly and asked in an unbelievable tone.

"What is this Rose? What kind of joke is this?" Lucas asked, frustrated.

"Yeah, we have been best friends since childhood. You can't break our friendship by writing some words. When are you going to grow up, Rose?" Marcus said in a frustrated tone.

"Rose, talk to us. Why are you wearing this black mask? Are you sick? And where were you last year? We called you many times but you never picked up our calls. Why, Rose?" Marcus asked in a desperate voice.

"When we asked your parents about you, they told us that you were sick and so you went to stay with your grandmother. So we didn't disturb you much. But we found out that you came back two days ago. We have been waiting for you to call us or come to see us. But you never call us or come to see us. Why Rose? What happened to you? Why have you changed so much?" Lucas keeps asking questions desperately.

Rose steps back, seeing his aggressiveness, and writes something and shows it to the twins.

"Yes! I changed. And I don't want to talk to you two anymore. I'm breaking our friendship. I come back here to complete my study, not to meet old friends." Lucas read the words for her iPad.

"Old friends? So… In your eyes, we are old friends, huh? Then who is your new friend? This flat-faced guy?" Marcus pointed at Kidan in an angry tone.

"Hey, my face is not that flat. And Dude, if she did not want to talk to two. So why are you forcing her to talk?" The guy interrupts them in an annoying tone.

"You are not allowed to talk between us! So shut up before I seal your mouth." Marcus said, bumping that guy in with his hard chest.

"You…." The guy tried to say.

But Rose steps between them and pushes Marcus back away from Kiran and shows him what she wrote on the iPad. Marcus first is very shocked when Rose pushes him.

How can she push him for another guy? The shock was visible in his face. But he controls himself and then his eyes land on words on the iPad.

"I don't need your friendship! I am officially breaking our friendship. Do not fight with Kiran. And yes, he is my friend. So stay away from us! It's a genuine request!" As Lucas read, his anger started growing.

"Lucas, that's enough for today." Marcus holds Kucas by his shoulder to stop him. He knows by now that Lucas can harm anyone if he is angry.

"But she is our friend, Marcus. How can she change friends so casually? It's all because of this dumb guy. What is so special about him? Is he better than us?" Lucas asked furiously.

"Yes, I'm better than you two. She needs friends who support her, and protect her from evil people. I'm not a party guy who keeps blind eyes when his friend is in danger. And…." Kiran almost busts Rose's secret.

Rose stopped Kiran from saying more and she used sign language to tell him to let go. Kiran looks at twin brothers who would definitely tear him in two pieces if he got along with them. Their eyes are killing Kiran.

"You are handsome, rich guys. Go and find another girl to be friends with. I saw many girls were dying for your one glance. So leave Rose for me. Ok! Let's go, princess." Kiran said with a smug smile and walked with Rose.

Twins keep hoping that Rose will turn to them once. But Rose keeps walking with Kiran. She didn't turn to them, seeing that it broke their heart.

"Rose! You can't break our friendship like this! And we will make you our friends again!! Mark my words!!" Lucas shouted at Rose.

"It's okay, Lucas. She must be mad at us for some reason. And we have to find out that season. But for now, we just act like normally we do. Don't go after that guy. She is clearly protective of him. We have to use our minds if we have to defeat him." Marcus calmly told Lucas to calm down.

"I just want her back. I miss her smile, her voice. She is the only person in these words that understands us. She is the only true friend of ours." Lucas said it sounded desperate.

"Don't worry. She will be our friend like old days. Let's go, we have class." Marcus said, patting Lucas's shoulder.

“Fine. We will do it your way.” Lucas sighs deeply and follows Lucas.

Flashback end

"Oh, yeah! That flat-faced guy. It's for two seconds for me to beat the s**t out of him. He is like a cartoon guy. But you told me to not go after him.” Lucas said.

“Because you can see Rose didn't want us to not harm him. So we are doing that. Leave that guy alone.”

“What about the guy we met just now? I clearly saw him getting close to Rose, and she was not comfortable. She was trembling in fear in my arms when I held her in my arms, I never felt her like this before. You know she was never scared of boys before. But now she was scared of that guy. He definitely did something to scare her. And I desperately want to know what he says to her." Lucas said seriously.

"Me too. But in his matter, we need to ask Rose again. And most of all we find out about his background." Marcus node in agreement.

"I'll tell the boys to keep their eyes on him. And as for Rose, we will have to find out what's wrong with her." Lucas said.

"Deal." Marcus nodded.
