Chapter Eight

I looked at my mother, waiting for her to tell me about my father. This has been something I have been waiting for a long time. Mother took a deep breath and started explaining what happened in the past. “Your father and I grew up in the same pack. He was the son of an Alpha, with strong Alpha lines that go back for generations. I was a daughter of Beta. Yes, a Beta. Your grandfather was the Beta at Ocean Bay Pack until your uncle was old enough to take over. We have always spent time together, playing, training, and learning our roles for when we get older. Your grandfather knew that there was a connection between Pete and me, but he never said anything. Alpha Harold was adamant that his son mate and marry someone with strong Alpha lines, to keep the pack strong. Alpha did not believe in fated mates for an Alpha. When Pete turned eighteen, he was disappointed that he did not find his fated mate right away. I was only a couple of months younger than him at the time, so we did not think of us being mated. When I turned eighteen, we were both thrilled! So, we got our parents together and announced that we were mates. My parents and Luna were thrilled, but Alpha was pissed. He said that his son would only be with someone with strong Alpha lines, not someone who is a Beta. But what he did not know was that your grandmother came from the strong Alpha lines but could not take over her home pack because of her brother, Rodney. Your father and I were devastated. We decided without delay to run away. We marked and mated that night. That was when you were conceived. Well, Alpha found out. He had already decided with another Alpha for marriage between your father and Alpha’s daughter from the Red Ridge Pack. I was heartbroken. Alpha Harold forced your father to reject me or lose his Alpha position and be banished from the pack. I could not stand in the way of your father losing his position. So, he rejected me. I almost died because of the heartache. Then I was banished from the pack. Luckily, my aunt lived here with her mate and invited me to come live with her. When I got here, Alpha Zane and Luna Morgan both welcomed me with open arms. I met Paul a couple of years later when he came to the pack. He was visiting from another pack, and we knew automatically that we were mates. By then, I had you and was raising you as a single mother. But I had help from the pack. Zane saw the strength in Paul and offered him the Gamma position. Paul loved you and spoiled you rotten until I got pregnant with Bjorn. After that, he started to hate you, having anger towards you. It even got worse after I had Siobhan. That is when he moved you into the pantry, saying that his daughter is not sharing a room with an Omega, even though I told him that you had strong Alpha lines in you. He would beat me there for a while until I realized that no matter what I say, I am never right about your heritage. I wanted to get away from him and go to the Alpha, but I could not because of Bjorn and Siobhan. I am happy that Bjorn got my family’s gentle nature, but Siobhan inherited the ruthlessness from Paul.” Tears were running down her face as she told me, in shock, that I am the daughter of an Alpha. I put my arms around her, comforting her and crying right with her. I finally know who I am. “So, this explains everything,” I said, sniffing my nose, and reaching for a Kleenex. “This explains why I am strong, fast, interested in the laws of the werewolves, and very hardheaded when it comes to authority around here.” I scoffed. “Yes, it does,” mother said. “Does my father know about me?” I asked her. “Yes, he does. But he wanted to keep his distance to keep you safe because of your grandfather. He has sent money every year to help, but instead, I put the money into savings for you to use when you turn eighteen. Luna helped me set it up after I met Paul. Paul does not know about the money,” she said, handing me a small book. “There is over five million dollars in there. This will be more than enough to help you get started somewhere else if you decide to leave.” Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. I went to open it, and Luna was standing there. “Tovi, Lillian, I figured you two would be in here,” she smiled. “I have an announcement to make to both of you. Since you are now eighteen, Tovi, your father will be here today to see you. I just found out from Zane when I was planning for the Omegas to get the rooms ready for Alpha Greg and his crew when they get here.” Mother’s face went pale. “Pete is going to be here?” she asked. Luna nodded her head yes. Mother ran out of my room and down the hallway. “Is she going to be ok?” I asked worriedly. “I think she is going to go do some soul searching,” she said gently. “You see, your father’s chosen mate just passed away from a rogue attack last month and your father wants your mother back, even if he has to kill Paul to get her back.” I gasped. My father still loves my mother, even though he was forced to reject her. Now, he could be with her, that is if we can get rid of Paul. That will not be easy because Paul will fight dirty just to get what he wants. “What do you think, Winter?” I asked her. “Do you think that my father has a chance to get back with my mother?” “Yes, he does. Paul is a weak man, thinking that it is ok to beat on women to get his way and train of thought. But he never got his way with you, nor did he instill his train of thought in you.” She huffed. I left my room and went to the second floor to the guest rooms to help get them set up. The beds were stripped and remade with fresh sheets, carpets swept, bathrooms cleaned and restocked, and the snack bar filled with everyone’s favorite snacks and drinks. As I was helping Angelica and the other Omegas, I kept getting a weird feeling in my stomach about Alpha Greg. What? I have no clue. “You will find out shortly,” Winter explained. “Will stop being so mysterious and just tell me,” I told her. Winter giggled and slipped to the back of my mind. I have had her for twenty-four hours and she is already getting on my nerves. Angelica looked at me with a puzzled look. “Winter is mysterious right now,” I told her. She nodded her head and said, “Maybe you will find your mate when both Alpha’s show up.” She was excited because I knew she wanted to find her mate, too. “Well, I have something to tell you,” I said to her. She looked at me puzzled. She jumped on the bed and patted the spot next to me. “Spill it, girl!” she said excitedly. I sat down next to her and looked around to make sure that no one was listening. “I just found out that the Alpha from Ocean Bay is my father. That is where my mother is from. Mother wanted to wait until I turned eighteen to tell me because of Paul and my grandfather on my father’s side. So, guess what, I am Alpha’s daughter,” I told her quietly. She jumped up and squealed. “OH, MY GODDESS!! I KNEW IT!! You have a stronger aura than the rest of us Omegas in the packhouse!” she said excitedly. I rolled my eyes at her. “Will you sit down and be quiet before everyone else hears you,” I said pulling her down. “Especially Paul. I don’t want him to know until my father shows up.” “My lips are sealed,” Angelica said, pretending to zip her lips shut. “Let’s get back to work. I still have to get ready for dinner tonight and have to get dressed up a little bit,” I said, picking up the pillows off the floor and putting them neatly on the bed.
