I fired shot after shot hitting the zombies on their heads but it did not lessen the amount of the undead surging towards them like a wave.
"Fvck!" I cursed and he kept on shooting and backing out.
"Let's go!" Garrett said. "We'll find another way to save Leander."
"No. Garrett, wait in the car."
There was no way I would leave Leander with those undead. Garrett sighed and reloaded a new magazine in his gun and handed a fully loaded gun to me.
"What are you talking about? I can't leave the captain on his own. I'm sorry, it was stupid of me to say that. " Garrett said.
I smiled and exploded a few more zombies heads before switching to the gun that Garrett handed.

I was holding a gun with my left hand and a sharp blade with my right but the zombie count was overwhelming me so I needed to run. I couldn't go upstairs because the zombies were coming from the staircase and so were the emergency exits so I could only roam around the huge supermarket while being chased by zombies.
I felt my eyes twitch when the gun I was carrying ran out of ammo. I cursed silently as I threw it to the nearest zombie knocking its head to the side but it did not lessen its pace. I was glad that swords do not need ammo.
I swung the sword, slicing the zombies in half but slicing its bodies wasn't enough to kill them, its hands still reaching towards me but there were too many zombies chasing for me to care if it wasn't dead yet, as long as it couldn't move anymore.
Maybe because I exhausted my body the other day that I felt dizzy suddenly and I was already out of breath.
I could only curse in my mind as I continued running. I was about to reach the end of the supermarket, pushing the huge shopping carts to the zombies. In every aisle, I could see zombies coming to me.
I could feel that my body was not in the best condition. The adrenaline rush was already worn out and my whole body was in pain and even breathing was difficult to do.
“Godammit!” I muttered despite being almost out of breath as I continued to run.
I could almost not feel my legs. It was about to give out when I heard a shout from the other end of the broken shopping racks and saw Garrett running with me.
“Hey! Run faster.” Garrett shouted and the zombies split and turned to the racks to run towards the sound.
My eyes twitched in annoyance seeing Garrett grinning. I wasn’t happy at all, I just wanted to collapse and rest.
Or maybe die.
Anything.
As long as I could stop breathing painfully and my legs could stop running.
What was I living for anyway?
I breathed out and was surprised when I saw someone at the end of the supermarket. Someone was spreading their arms in the air as if he was waiting for me to lean on those arms and rest there. I breathed out as I dashed towards Tilden, not minding how the muscles on my legs felt like it was going to explode. I just wanted to rest for a while.
“Baby, come to my arms.” Tilden said and I crashed into him without even slowing down and Tilden almost lost his balance but he stood on his ground,
Despite how loud the pounding of my heart in my ears, I could also hear Tilden’s heartbeat. It was beating fast also.
The place was in chaos. Guns being fired repeatedly but the moment I felt how was Tilden’s arms were, my system shut down knowing I was already safe.
………
I sat up the moment I woke up, surprising Tilden who was driving the armored car. I was sitting in the passenger seat and we were already on the road. Tilden had already gotten rid of his uniform, leaving only his tight black undershirt that was complimenting his huge build.
“Baby, you scared me.” Tilden said and smiled. I was a little hit disoriented that I could not bring myself to argue about how Tilden was calling me baby.
“What happened?” I asked after recalling what happened before I passed out.
We were already on our way back to the camp and the backseat was filled with groceries that I did not know how they managed to gather it after that.
“Damn! It was mission impossible.” Garrett said who was sitting in the backseat and he looked like he was drowning with the groceries.
“We flew those zombies up to space.” Tilden said.
“We threw all of my hand grenades.” Garrett said.
“Yes, we walked out like the ending of every Power Ranger episode. Explosions behind the prince carrying his damsel in distress with the nanny and leaving that damned place and lived happily ever after.” Tilden winked.
I wanted to strangle Tilden if it wasn’t for my aching body.
Garrett shook his head while looking at his hopeless captain.
“We burned the supermarket, leaving behind every goods we gathered but who would have thought we could find five huge abandoned shopping carts filled with groceries at the parking lot? So, that explains these goods.” Garrett said.
I was glad that someone normal was there to translate everything.
“If we saw it first, we wouldn’t have to go inside.” Garrett said. “But it was lined behind an RV. It was impossible to spot if we hadn’t used the exit door.”
Well, lucky then. We did not have to go back empty-handed.
I sighed and leaned my back.
“Go back to sleep. We’re still a few hours away from the camp.” Tilden said.
“Thank you.”
I was checking his body. Maybe because I was being chased by zombies that I felt something weird going on with my body. I sighed again recalling that I didn’t find an inhibitor. I was thinking of using the last inhibitor I had at the dorm before I fell back into a deep sleep.
