Chapter Fourteen
Sabrina’s POV
Ah! This is life!
After half an hour of drive, I arrived at Twin Peaks Hotel and Resort. Owned by a friend of mine back at college. A man friend, of course. Too bad he’s not in the country at the moment, it’s good to meet old people since the ghost of past continues to come back.
I sighed.
My things are settled on the suite which I booked for a week. I plan on staying for a few days but just to be sure, I extended ahead of time.
Wearing my red two-piece bikini with few black stripes inside my knitted white cover-up, I headed to the beach.
I’m too pale and in need to be burned a little. Plus, the oceanic blue waters in front of me is too serene and relaxing. There’s only few guests since its not yet the peak season but I love the cold.
Laying on the lounge chair, I took my sunscreen lotion so I won’t be too tan when I came back home. I never tried having that look yet but I’m not up for experimentation now since he’s back home.
Okay, Sabrina. Stop thinking about him now.
Let’s just enjoy the peaceful fresh air and scenery.
I exhaled deep and closed my eyes, not planning for a siesta but because of emotional exhaustion, I drifted to sleep.
**
I woke up and the sun has moved and I was covered by the shadows of the palm trees.
Ugh. I think I didn’t had enough sun.
I closed my eyes again and sighed, shifting my weight to find a more comfortable position. But then, someone spoke that startled me.
“Going back to sleep?”
I don’t need to look to who that voice belonged to. I sat abruptly, almost felling dizzy from my sudden movement.
Yael!
I turned to look at him and he was seated on the next lounge chair beside me. He was not laying there but sitting straight and looking right at me.
Is he watching me while I sleep?! I think that’s… creepy!
“What are you doing here!?” I hide the nervousness I felt and remained calm and compose.’
Why is he here when I wanted him out of my space?! Of my mind?!
“I followed you.”
My lips parted. He didn’t even denied that!
My chest was in a chaos but I shove it off all away. Calm down, please, calm down.
Instead of facing him, I decided to lay back on the lounge and closed my eyes as if I don’t care that he followed me here.
He followed me!!! That was enough to drive me insane!
But I won’t let it bother me, or so I won’t let him see that!
“Like what you do these past few days? Are you my stalker now or what?” I smirked, not looking at him or my wall might break.
Yael hummed and I heard his low chuckles next. I frowned but quickly wiped it off.
“You’ll be shock if I answer that I was your stalker then and not just now.” I can hear the vibration in his voice from suppressing his laughter.
Frowning, I turned to look at him.
His eyes was quick to pierce with mine and my breath hitched. What the f*****g hell, that’s just eyes, Sabrina!
Yeah, eyes of the most handsome man alive on earth. f**k!
I groaned and looked away again.
“One of the famous lines you use to bed your women? I’m not taking trash like that.”
“Hm,” he chuckled again and this time it sounded sexy in my ears. “I don’t think I need to speak a word to have that pleasure, Sabrina. You know that.”
Snorting, I glanced at him. “I don’t have time to hear you boast about your s*x life, Yael. Go away, I’m trying to relax here.”
A few second of silence past and we just remained battling with our gazes. Yael seems to enjoy that my eyes are on him, and feeling the betrayal of my eyes, it traveled down to his body.
He’s wearing a black sleeveless loose shirt that shows all his hard-earned muscles and dark blue swim shorts.
I gulped on how he pulled the style perfectly so I just looked away when I noticed my attention is now focused on his obviously huge bulge.
“I’m not being boastful, Sabrina.”
Is it just me or the way my name coiled in his tongue is real seductive? f**k!
“And I have time, so I’ll join you here.”
I hissed.
“Did I asked for your companionship? How did you know I’m here anyway? Did my boyfriend told you?”
I saw Yael’s jaw clenches when I mentioned the word ‘boyfriend’ so I smirked. He never change on that part, huh?
Back in high school, I always remember him being pissed when I got suitors and scare them off. I thought he was being brother-like since he’s a friend of Spencer but now that I’m looking back to those moments, my hunch was right.
He always got jealous then, he still is now.
“Xander knew you’re here?” he looked away. “Or maybe not, because I’m the one here and not him, right?”
I bit my lip and frowned at him, getting irritated that he just found that I didn’t bother informing my proclaimed boyfriend of my whereabouts.
Instead of answering, I sat and ready to leave him here to rot but he spoke again.
“I can be your boyfriend while he’s not here. You might find my company better than your fake boyfriend. Cheat with me, Sabrina.”
My neck almost snapped when I turned to face him hastily.
He knew!
Oh, f**k, why wouldn’t he!? He know everything!
And cheat with him!? Ha! That was so funny!
“Nobody wants you here, Yael. Go back home and mind your own business.”
I walked away before he could say a word. There’s no way I’ll entertain his f*****g game!
Spencer’s POV
**A few days ago**
“Sir, someone wants to have a word with you. He’s outside.” said Julian, my Spanish-American secretary. I glanced up at him for a second before turning to the papers I’m studying about.
“Who was it?”
“Uh, Sir, he won’t say his name---”
“Tell him I’m busy.”
“B-But Sir, h-he wanted you to know that h-he is not a friend now but he was b-before.”
That caught my attention.
I looked up to my secretary with furious eyes. The poor man was startled by the glare I gave.
There is only one person that comes to my mind. I’m a friendly person, loved to held parties and such and the only friend I had who became my enemy now is no other than him.
Yael Domingo.
“Send him in and no visitors will be entertained while he’s inside, Julian.”
He nodded and went out. Not too long before he was gone, Yael came in my office.
The brute wears his usual all black clothing. He never changed on that part.
My hands tangled together and I placed my chin above it, looking straight at him and his irritating face.
“First, you coming on my house and now you’re at my office? Don’t you missed me too much to show up uninvited like this, Yael?” sarcasm was full and evident on my voice.
“I’ll entertain the idea, Spencer, though we both know who I missed and came back for.” he smirked and made his way on the chair. Making himself comfortable without my invitation. The usual, arrogant Yael.
I shook my head. I’m too busy for argument right now, and coming in my office like this only meant he got questions about Sabrina.
He always do.
“I have no time for this. Say what you have to say and go. I’m busy.”
Yael clicked his tongue and shook his head with a smirk. And he found that funny, huh?
“You’re breaking my heart, friend.” he chuckled.
“Do you even have one?” Now I’m starting to lose my cool with his easy-going fuckness!
“Ouch.” Yael chuckled again. “Is this your p*****t for everything I’ve done to your family, Spencer?”
My hand formed a fist and my jaw tightened. How dare him bring that up now!
“I owe you nothing the moment you destroy my sister’s life, Yael!”
Yael frowned with his lips parted. I know I swear with my name and promised Sabrina I won’t tell anyone specially Yael about her condition but I also know I will break that promise.
Because he has to know.
“Don’t you think its unfair to accept that allegation when I never know what I did?”
“You came, you go and you come back! I don’t know how you bewitched her but whatever spell you cast on her--”
“Cut the nonsense and head to the point, Spencer. If you got no time for this, I have none, too.”
My breathing was uneven and fast and any time now, my head might explode with wrath over him.
So I tried to remain calm.
“Fine. What do you want?” I said in a calm voice but with gritted teeth.
“Answers, Spencer. What’s wrong with her? Why does she have a psychologist attending to--”
“Yael.” I chuckled as I stopped his firing questions. “She don’t want you to know. What do you expect me to do? Answer you because you need it? Come on!” I laughed, almost hysterical. “You are just a friend, she is my sister, my family.”
Yael’s jaw tightened and I thought he’ll continue to push his luck but he nodded slowly.
“Then I’ll keep on finding out. I tried my luck to ask you since I’m on the edge, Spencer. I follow her nonstop, my men follows her, and another sight of him and Xander… you’ll see your friend again.”
“And what do you mean by that?!”
Yael is… danger. I must say he grew up in that environment but his obsession towards Sabrina was…extraordinary.
It’s a f*****g long story.
“Roy. Brian. The list was long, I’m afraid, but you remember all of them, right?”
I hissed.
Roy was dead. Age of fifteen.
Brian was still in a coma now. Brain injury at the age of fourteen.
And yes, the list goes on.
“Are you threatening me?! You’ll do that to me and what? Cover it up with your power and wealth? Yael I’m not scared--”
“Shh. Shh.” then he chuckled. I felt cold and iced all over. This damned devil. “You will be my brother-in-law. You helped me way back, I am not returning the favor by inflicting pain in you.” then his smile faded. “But don’t give me an idea. I’m starting to think that you’re getting in my way. Are you?” he said in a monotone voice.
Damn.
The way his eyes turned blank and black, it’s damn evil!
My jaw clenches and knowing him, I know I need not to speak or I might trigger something… bad.
Yael smirked and stood up, I was startled but I kept it well.
“Well, I’m talking about Xander, not you. So be at peace.”
I gulped.
“You’re quiet.” he hissed. “Fine, I don’t think I’ll have answers from you now and I won’t fish for more but… to repay all the favors I did for you, I’ll leave my card.”
Tsk!
“I don’t wish to be friends with you again, Yael.” I said, a little calmer.
“No, no.” he chuckled. “I don’t know what I did wrong to you to say that but I’m not asking to be promoted back to that position. I’m leaving my contact because you’ll tell me when and where she goes. From now on.”
My teeth gritted and I was about to shout at him but he continued.
“I’m not asking, Spencer.” he turned his back on me and walked away. “You’re bad at receiving visitors now, you didn’t even offer me coffee.” then he went out laughing.
I sat on my chair, turning weak and agitated.
This…
No one knew but I know.
I am the root for all of this.
I am the one to blame.
And I’m too scared to admit that and take the blame.
