Chapter Six

My phone chimed as a new notification popped in. I groaned loudly before throwing the covers off me. It was mid-day but it seemed like all my body wanted to do that day was lay idle in bed. In my sleepwear which was just an oversized T-shirt I walked to the other side of the room and retrieve my phone from the pink love seat. A follow request from Ivan Smarts I tapped accept on the screen and immediately my phone chimed again. This time it was a simple 'Hi' text. The sender was the person I'd just accepted their follow request. I replied with a hello before closing the app. I wasn't in the mood to chat with a stranger. My room door flung open, I turned around and standing with the doorknob in her hand was Catherine "Hello El." "Good morning Catherine. How was your night?." "It was fine thank you. So there's a party tonight." Okay so no 'hello, how was your night. Did you sleep well? hope you didn't have any nightmare' Oh well it wasn't like I was expecting that much from her. I frowned at the bizarre sentence . "Another party?." I asked with an incredulous look. "What do you mean another? The last party we went to was two days ago." "Exactly. So it's too soon to be going for another." "Wow you really live a boring life like your mom said." she mumbled quietly but well, she wasn't as quiet as she intended 'cause I still heard her clearly. I was about telling her what exactly I thought of her not-so-boring life when she opened her mouth again. "Anyways you should still come with me. The guys likes you. Just think about it " "Ellie." An adorable voice called before his head appeared by the door. "Hello Jack." I smiled and he giggled and somehow that made him even cuter. I've never wished I had a younger brother but with Jack, he made me jealous of Cat. "Come play with me please." his tiny hands held onto mine as he jumped excitedly. I wonder what Cassie fed him that made him that energetic. "Are you playing a board game?." I bent down to be at eye level with him. "Can you little s**t not see we were busy with something before you walked in." Cat frowned. "Bad word. I'll tell mom and dad." he said poking his tongue out at his sis. ******* "Sup." A deep voice said and I tore my eyes from the Netflix series I was watching, it was hard trust me. I was lying on the long couch. My entire length spread out on it. I quickly hit the pause button before turning my head around. Appearing in my line of sight was dark blue jeans fitted around muscular thighs. My eyes trailed upwards taking a sec pause at his nice looking abs which was somehow visible even with the white T-shirt he had on. "Nick." "Eleanor." He said before stunning me by lifting my head off the couch. "What are-" my words were cut short by his next action. He was now sat where my head used to be, and my head now assumed the new position of lying in his laps. I was still, my neck hung stiffly. I found his action really weird. I mean, the most Nick and I had ever said to each other was the conversation we had that night at the party when he offered to bring me home. And now my head was in his laps. I tried raising my head up but Nick caught on and pushed it back in his lap. "Don't move." "My neck hurt. This position is uncomfortable." I tried to explain my palms were a bit sweaty. I was nervous. "Then make yourself comfortable. You're tense. Relax a bit would ya." he placed his hands on my shoulders which did nothing to ease the tension in them. If anything it only made me more aware of his presence. The heat of his palms seeping through my white T-shirt. Nick was a very attractive lad so my nervousness was a bit understandable. "I could never feel comfortable in this position. I think I should just sit instead." "Alright then." He lifted his palms from my shoulder and I almost sighed in relief. I scooted to the other end of the couch. Putting as much space as possible between us. "I don't bite you know." "I'm not taking any risks." I rubbed my left shoulder which still felt hot for some weird reason. "Why are you here alone? Where are the others? Aren't you lot like a pack or something." "We don't always walk together you know. And they should be here soon." "You're gonna fall off the couch if you don't stop moving." "Would you stop getting closer then?." "Does that make you uncomfortable?" "Not really. It's just feels weird. You're not acting like the you I sorta know." He turned to face me now. His eyes, which I just noticed were Silver that twinkled under the florescent lights. They were both trained on me, goading me even. I opened my mouth to say something but then shut it. I tried again and this time, it got a reaction from him. His eyebrow rose up as if asking me why I couldn't speak. "You're not scared of me are you?." He asked with a weird expression on his face. "No no. Where'd you get that from. I just meant like you are acting a bit different from the last few times we met. You're being a bit more talkative and nicer." "Oh that. You don't like that?" "No, I mean Yes, I don't have a problem with it. I just never pictured you to be like...." I was cut off by the door opening. And I was glad 'cause I didn't even know how I'd end that statement. I wasn't thinking straight. "Elliee." a falsetto voice shrieked and I grimaced at how high pitched it was. Suddenly I was engulfed in a hug. My hands laying limply by my side. "Uhm Hi Dave." "Hug me back." He whined. I couldn't think of where to place my hands. Around his neck, that felt to intimate, so I just wrapped them around his back. "I missed you. Did you miss me too." "Huh No?." I replied honestly. This made Dave pull away and on his face was an agape look with eyes and mouth wide opened. He placed a hand on his chest. "You hurt me deeply Ellie." he said with a feigned hurt expression. "Would you have preferred to hear a lie." "Yes. A lie that would make me happy is acceptable." "I would take note of that next time." "Hi Eleanor." Stacy greeted before wrapping her arms around me, pushing Dave out of the way. I didn't even notice when she and the others walked in. "Hello Gorgeous." Allison said with a bright smile and I replied with one of mine. "Hey El." Angela greeted and I said a quick hello back. Just behind her was Harry. He was looking down at his phone as he kept tapping on the screen rapidly. He looked the same as the last time I saw him. All three piercings intact. He wore a black tee and a pair of even blacker trousers. His curly hair was surprising darker than both clothes on him. He settled down on one of the single couches in the living room. His eyes never once left his phone. His hair fell, covering an eye and I must say he looked almost angelic like that. Almost being the key word 'cause nothing about Harry looked innocent. If anything, he screamed dangerous. He was like those people everyone found attractive but never approach because they were too scared of them. His looks was intimidating and scary, but I wasn't scared of him. Which was exactly why I did what I did next. "Hi Harry." I greeted. I was a bit taken aback when he looked up his phone and his eyes met mine. His eyes were like a pitch black bottomless pit that you just couldn't help but stare at. He tilted his head to the side a bit as if trying to remember where he'd seen my face before. I think he got it 'cause he gave a nod of acknowledgment before going back to his phone. Harry whatever-his-surname-is has acknowledged me twice with a nod. That lad had some serious issues. I've heard of how rude American guys were but his was just topping the chart. But on the brighter side, he didn't total ignore me right?. Just then my cousin descended down the stairs that led to the sitting room. Her heel clicked with every step she took. "Hello everyone." She greeted when she got to the foot of the stairs. Everyone except Harry said a hello or a hi back. And yes I was watching him. I wasn't being creepy with it though. I just wanted to know what he was up to and if he could ever say words like hi, hello or a hey to someone. Turns out he couldn't. She was in a tight black mini dress. Her blonde hair was curled at the tip. Her makeup was perfect as usual. She looked stunning. Her blue gaze found Harry and stayed on him for a nanosecond before they found me. "Don't tell me you're wearing that to the party." an incredulous look on her face. "I'm not going. I told you that before." "But why? just why?." she asked with large blue eyes. I shrugged. "No you have to come. it won't be fun without you there." Dave said. "You had fun the last time and I wasn't even with you." "Yeah because I knew you were around somewhere." he pouted. "So would you come along?." "No." "But, it will be fun." Cat said. "Clearly we have different definition for the word." "Alright suit yourself. Let's get going guys." "I would be staying here too." Nick said. This got everyone's attention. Including Harry's. "Not you too." Dave whined. "Why though." Stacy asked this time. He shrugged. "It happened again." He replied vaguely. And this got a chorus ohhh. Somehow everyone except me understood what he meant. "Okay it's almost 11pm we'd see you two later." And with that they all left the room. I assumed back my sitting position at the other end of the couch. "What are you watching." he gestured to the television. "Ohhh that." I'd even forgotten I had the TV on pause. "Bridgerton." "That." He shook his head. "You know it?." "Yeah. My sis can't stop talking about how handsome the Duke is since she watched it." "You have a sister?." "Three actually." "I'll have you know your sister is right. The duke is indeed very handsome." "And is that why you watch the series? 'Cause it's why my sister watched it." "Yes." I laughed a bit as he shook his head before hitting the play button on the remote.
