Thorne stroked Kate's hair while staring at the ceiling. Kate smiled and moved closer, feeling Thorne's warmth. "Don't get close to Jordan anymore. Don't talk to him, or better, ignore him when you see him," Thorne said and stopped. He looked at Kate and stroked her hair again. "May I know why?" Kate asked. Jordan was kind, and she couldn't ignore the future Beta. "Just do what I told you!" Thorne snapped, which surprised Kate. "Uh…o-okay, Thorne. I'm s-sorry," Kate whispered. Thorne heaved a sigh and kissed Kate's forehead. "I just don't want you talking and getting close to other men. It makes me want to kill them," Thorne said, which made Kate's heart race. She could feel butterflies in her stomach with what Thorne had said. "I'll try, Thorne. You know, I just can't ignore Jordan. He's going to be your most trusted ally and the next in line Beta," Kate replied. "I don't care, just don't do it," Thorne replied, sounding really pissed, making Kate immediately nod her head to avoid making Thorne even more mad. "Are you going to stay here till evening?" Kate hopefully asked. "No, I'm going back after this. I left my work, so I need to finish it as soon as possible," Thorne replied nonchalantly. "Ohh, is that so?" Kate said. She was hoping to spend more time with Thorne, but it seemed impossible. "Just leave the windows open. I'll come when I'm free," Thorne said. Kate smiled and nodded. There was silence between them when Thorne spoke again. "I have to go, Kate." Thorne carefully removed his arm and sat, taking his clothes on the ground. He stood up and got dressed. "I'm going to wait for you," Kate said and clutched the thin blanket on her chest. Thorne glanced at her and back to what he was doing. "Don't," he said and walked away. Kate heaved a sigh and started dressing up too. She cleaned the bed and went out. Kate wanted to follow Thorne, but she knew he already disappeared and returned to the packhouse. Kate, with a slumped shoulder, took the grocery bags on the floor that fell when she cried and started preparing food for herself and her parents. She cooked a simple dish and took the frame on the table, and picked the picnic basket. Kate put the food in the container and washed the dishes she used before going out. Kate went to where her parents were buried and put the mat on the ground, and she sat. She touched each gravestone with her parent's name engraved, and tears fell from her eyes. "Hi, Mom. Hi, Dad," Kate whispered. "I missed you," she added and wiped her tears. Kate forced herself to smile and cleared her throat. "I brought our favorite dish," Kate said and took the container out. She started eating silently while the wind brushed past her. "I found my mate, Mom, Dad," Kate whispered. "I really thought I was destined to live and die alone, but she has other plans for me," she added and looked at the sky. Kate lost all her faith and trust in the Moon Goddess when she found out about her condition, but when she met Thorne during the mating season, she felt that Moon Goddess hadn't entirely abandoned her. That she will have happiness and normal life like other wolves. "It's still a bit complicated, Mom, Dad, but everything will be alright," she said, sounding hopeful. Kate wished that someday she will be able to stand on Thorne's side as his mate. Thorne went back to his office after taking off the scent of Kate and the scent of the s*x they had. When he entered, he saw his father standing near the window. "F-Father?" Thorne asked and gripped the knob tightly. His father, the current Alpha of the Blue Stone - Theor Winters, looked at him. His arms were crossed, and he exuded a powerful aura that made Thorne harder to breathe. "I thought you were scheduled to be back next week?" Thorne asked. "The meeting ended without a problem. Alphas were allowed to return home earlier than expected," Theor replied with his deep Alpha voice. "How was the pack?" he added and sat on the chair. Thorne closed the door and sat in front of him. "All good. I've dealt with rogues trespassing the pack borders, and no other arose during your absence," Thorne nervously said. "When was the mating season again?" Theor asked. "Was it three months ago?" he added. "Yes, Father," Thorne responded. "You still haven't found your mate?" Theor asked. Thorne looked at him and clenched his hand into a fist as Kate's image popped up in his head. "No, Father. I haven't found her," Thorne replied without hesitation, making his wolf angrier for lying about their mate, but he will never tell Kate being his mate to his father because she's an omega. It will soiled his reputation as the next Alpha of the pack. "Barry's daughter, Jasmine, I want to meet her," Theor said and stood up. "Set up a meeting with the Beta's family," he added and left Thorne's office. When Theor's finally gone, Thorne breathed a sigh of relief as he felt constricted throughout the conversation with his father. Thorne immediately took his phone and searched for Jordan's name, and called him. "Hello?" Jordan said on the other line. "Jord, he's here," Thorne said. "Yeah, I know. I was actually shocked and called you a few times, but you weren't answering," Jordan said. "Was something wrong?" he added. "I was out and left my phone. Tell Uncle Barry to bring all of you in the packhouse tomorrow evening," Thorne said. "It was the Alpha's order," he added. "Okay, I will tell my Dad," Jordan said and hung up. Thorne put his phone on the table and heaved a sigh. He already knew what his father had in mind. It was to plan the union of him and Jasmine, Jordan's sister. He could feel his wolf disagreed and was angry, but Thorne was also mad. "Shut up. We can't do anything about it. I will not accept that omega to become the Luna of the pack I will lead."
