Riley. Hissing, I put away my phone in my pocket. I guess no matter how many times I have to block Charles, he would always have a way of getting to me and trying to get me to agree to his request. I really do want to understand what goes on in his head for think that I would just agree to his requests. Since the day that I had left his office, he kept on flooding my phone with messages, trying to convince me to come and work under him. But I could swear that there is more to that, there has to be something that he needs from me which I can’t give to him, not when I have my babies to take care of. “Miss Riley right?” a young lady, whose face I had instantly recognized asked. A smile was plastered on her face as I shook my head yes. “I didn’t think that you would be coming back when you dipped out all of a sudden without saying goodbyes.” Sandy complained. Sandy was a close friend that I had gotten from the college after Zelia and she is someone that I knew I could count on, even though there are still things that are needed to be kept under the bus and surprisingly she hates Zelia. They have never been a fan of each other and doesn’t stay in the same place for a minute or less. “I know, Sandy and I truly apologize. I did try to get to you afterwards, but it was fatal.” I apologized. Today marks a week since I had moved back to New York and yet, I can’t find a stable job to hold up all my expenses. I do need to enroll the kids in a school as soon as possible and without a job, it wouldn’t be a dream come true. “Same.” She uttered. “I even wanted to ask that friend of yours but then what I found out shook me so I left it out.” She added. I get what she meant, she found out that Zelia was dating the scumbag that I had wanted to spend the rest of my life with. At least I found out early before it was late. “I am sorry that…” “You don’t have to apologize.” I intercepted. “It is their loss and it is what was meant to happen. At least, due to their betrayal, I was able to find my happiness and held it closely.” I smiled, remembering the twins. This is the reason why I can’t let anyone take them away from me because if it should happen, then it would break me, to the extent that I think it would be hard for me to easily recover from it. “the reason why I asked to meet up with you is because I need your help.” I started. After checking the amount that I needed to pay part time nannies, I realized that I couldn’t be able to afford that, not even when I work in McDonalds for a year. If it wasn’t for Zelia’s father being the CEO of the company, I wouldn’t have been this bothered for no reason. “You see, for the last four years that I was away, I had kids and now, I need to get a job and also someone to take care of them before I can be able to afford to enroll them in a school.” I narrated. I saw as her eyes sparked when I told her about the kids. “You have kids, not even one. Goodness.” She exclaimed, putting a hand to her mouth when she noticed the weird stares that she was getting and I chuckled. “I can’t believe that.” She added. I shrugged my shoulders. Just like her, I didn’t believe it at first, but here we are, I have two angels that I love more than anything. “They are twins; Alex and Austin. A pain in the ass if you ask me.” I chuckled. A pain in the ass yet I can’t live a day without them, clear obsession. “I really can’t keep my cool now and I want to meet them.” She said dreamily. “sure, I can take you to see them today. They are with their uncle right now and as I was saying.” I stopped, taking in a deep breath. “I don’t know if it is possible that you can help me get a job, maybe talk to your father.” I requested. Her father works in the central bureau which could be so easy for him to help me out. I don’t even mind the level that I get to find myself in, as long as I just get something at the end of the month. “I am sorry if this is all of a sudden but I do need this help.” I had never imagined that the day would come and I would try to use the connection that I had to get something that I wanted. I had always considered it as injustice to others without the connection, now that I had found myself in a very tight position, I have no choice than to do it. “That way, I can get a nanny for the twins.” I added. “Getting a nanny for the twins isn’t an issue. I can’t take that.’ She offered happily. “what about your job?” I asked her. She is done with the college and I am sure that her father wouldn’t let her rot at home, after making her a pursue a masters at Harvard as of last year. “you can’t put the two together, not when the twins are handy all the time.” I reasoned. She waved her hand in front of me. “I am on leave because I was meant to travel to Paris but now, I don’t want to go anymore so the month that I have left, I will spend it with the twins. And also, I will talk to my father about it. I am sure that he would be glad to help you out.” I opened my mouth to speak when my phone vibrated in my pocket. My intention was to let it be, knowing that it could be Charles but then it could be Brian or the twins so I brought it out. “Excuse me.” I mumbled before getting the text message that I had just gotten. ‘I am sure that you do know that I have your address and driving there would only take less than twenty-five minutes of my time, which I don’t mind. So pick your choice, either you meet me here in less than an hour, or I will pop at your home and sending me away would be hard.’ It was Charles and attached to it was the location of the place that I am to meet him. I would have ignored the message and put my phone away but it means that I am ready for him to see the twins and get whatever idea he could get. I can’t risk that. “Sandy.” I called out softly. “Thank you so much for your help. I will text you tomorrow with the address so that you can meet the twins.” I offered as a way to appreciate her help and also, apologize for leaving now when we should have spent more time together. “There is someone that I need to meet.”
