Averting of Danger

Sia - POV Maura’s malicious grin made me feel queasy and made my heart race. I could even feel my skin crawling. I thought hard about getting out of this predicament, and it seemed to me that Luna wanted power, and when she snooped into Alpha Xavier’s room, she was seeking something. What if I tell her I would become her Alliance, and this way, I can also get vengeance on Alpha via Luna at the front end while I play on the back foot? “Luna, I am a slave forced to remain in the Alpha chamber. If you spare my life, I will do as you say,” I pleaded to Luna through tears. I had to act like a submissive and vulnerable lady so that Luna would believe she could use me as a pawn and have the upper hand. “How can I trust you, b***h, if you think I’ll fall for a ruse?” I tried not to cringe as I saw her canines and wolf coming to the surface. As Maura snarled at me. “Luna, I implore you to trust me. Please do so.” I sobbed, and as her eyes swept over me, I could see her fury subsiding. “Hmmm...then I can use you as my pawn.” Luna Maura muttered; I bowed my head and agreed with her. You will be on my radar for the next several days, so I’ll be prepared to intervene if I detect you are attempting to cross my path. Maura offered me a nasty grin that kept me from being sick to my stomach at sight. “Be cautious, tiny rabbit. I am monitoring you.” Warning me last time as she clicked on her heels, stepping away, I exhaled in relief. As I checked in the mirror, I saw the bruise on my jawline from Luna’s firm hold and scratches on my neck. I used the restroom in peace, thanking God for the idea and Luna for agreeing; otherwise, I’d be dead by now. I saw red bruises turning purple in the mirror as I washed my hands. I ignored the knock on the bathroom door, assuming I had misheard, and then I heard heavy footsteps and looked in the mirror to see it was Alpha Xavier. “Alpha, what are you doing in the lady’s washroom?” I turned to look him in the eyes. “How did this happen to your face?” His harsh voice made me jump, but I didn’t let it scare me. “I caused injury to myself.” Alpha Xavier hissed at me with a dumb excuse. “Why are you lying? I can pick up Maura’s scent from you. Did she do this to you?” I didn’t respond, and my mind went completely blank as I heard Alpha’s icy voice. “So you will not talk then?” He gave me a snarl. His aura was suffocating me at that exact moment. “I told you I did this by myself, Alpha.” He snarled at my statement. “Nas will accompany you to my room, and I will call the doctor to check on you.” He walked away without glancing at me. When I came out of the restroom, Jia and Nas were waiting for me, and when Jia saw my face, his eyes became concerned. “God, Sia. What the hell is going on with the bruise on your face? Alpha caused this.” Jia scanned, and I saw Nas glancing at her as she blamed Alpha. “Calm down, Jia; it’s nothing.” It drew my eyes to Nas’s as I tried to soothe Jia, who was on the point of shedding a tear. “Jia, come with me to escort Sia to her room,” Nas said softly, and I agreed. Jia grinned at me and nodded at Nas as we went from the backway where others couldn’t see us and caught whispers of the crowd badmouthing me. I went back into my cage, and Liza was already in the bedroom cleaning the room, and when she noticed me coming in with Nas and Jia, she interrupted her work. “Ms. Sia, your Face,” Liza whispered with anxiety, and Nas’s glance fell on Liza, and seeing that Liza kept her lips shut, she didn’t ask me anything. “I can cure you immediately,” Jia spoke, and Nas’s eyes flickered with an expression I could not comprehend. “No need, Jia; just keep your abilities hidden,” I spoke into my ear. “If I put the slave ring back on your fingers, you won’t be able to cure anybody,” Nas growled, and Jia trembled at his voice, and I squeezed her hands to soothe her down. “You there... Maid, check on the doctor. Where is he,” Nas spoke up, and Jia shivered as she sat next to me. Nas did not know what Jia’s shivers were. “You’re aware of our mate relationship.” The question came out of nowhere as Nas’ brown eyes fixed on me. Jia’s grip on my hand tightens, and Nas stares at her, causing her to shudder even more. “Yes, I do,” I responded, and Nas’ gaze shifted from Jia to me. “Did you notify Alpha about this?” I glanced at Jia and then at Nas, puzzled why he was asking me that. “Why are you being so quiet?” He said in an icy tone; I saw Jia hiding behind me. “I haven’t yet told Alpha,” I whispered. As his gaze lingered on me, I could see that my calm demeanor was troubling him. “Don’t talk about it because if you do, I’ll send you back where you came from.” Nas snarled. “OK, can you kindly lower your voice? I don’t like Jia scared; Jia is your mate. Why are you frightening her?” As I backed my answer in response, Nas’s eyes got enraged, and I saw Jia stop me from saying anything further to him. “You dare to answer me back,” Nas grunted and clenched his fist. It drew his attention to Jia, who was already sobbing. Nas immediately became calm. “Jia, let us go.” Nas order. Jia stared at me, and I could see she didn’t want to leave me alone in her eyes. “Jia,” Nas called. I nodded my head to Jia to accompany Nas out of my room, and Liza entered with a doctor, who handed me ointments and pills again, which I despised. Ben Wright’s name was visible on his doctor’s coat. “I heard about your wolf restraint case from a coworker. I was wondering how long your slave ring had been on you.” As he requested, I attempted to clear my mind. “Technically, this slave ring was put in immediately before I arrived at the pack. The remaining portion of the time, I was bound in shackles to keep my wolf under control using wolfbane magic.” When I finished explaining, Ben frowned in concern. I thought this Doctor was gorgeous, and I saw Liza looking at him with her pink cheeks. “We’ll know more about the wolf’s well-being when I take a sample of your blood for analysis; please allow me to do so.” I put out my arms for him, and he drew my blood from a syringe. “Take care, Ms. Sia.” I glanced at him, wondering how he knew my name, and then it dawned on me that everyone in the pack knew who I was and what my name was. I returned his kind grin. My gaze shifts to the Alpha Xavier, standing in the doorframe, staring at the Doctor and then at me. The Doctor and Liza departed swiftly. “You’re smiling at someone else, and when you glance at me, your expression turns like you spotted a trash yard.” Alpha Xavier said as he shut the door. I smelled too much booze. . He staggered, and I walked over to assist him in getting to his bed. “Sia….. You may not grin at anybody; if you do, I may murder them.” Then, in a rage, he roared. “And I see you’re in pain because of that b*tch Maura. So I will also kill her.” He slurred. I stepped back as he snagged my wrist to halt my steps.
