“Max do you think this will work?” “IDK Jase I hope so if not, I might lose it!” Our conversation is cut short by my ringtone. I look at the caller ID and freeze “YOU DIDN’T TELL HER?!?!” Max roars in my head. I take a big gulp of air before answering the phone trying to put on my most charming lil bro voice “Hey Sissy! Miss me al---” she cuts me off and next thing I know my brain is vibrating with how loud she’s yelling at me “JASON DO NOT EVEN EFFING START WHAT THE—” “SIS let me—” “Yes Jason please explain why you opened the Farm up to Hundreds of little humans their teachers and their parents?!?! FOR f*****g FREE!!” She roars threw the phone. Sometimes its easy to forget that my sister is a first-born alpha. This is NOT one of those times. If I were in my wolf form my tail would be between my legs, I have never been so happy that she was so far away from me than i am at this very moment! “Jenna, I apologize for not telling you first, that is my bad. But if you listen, I think that you’ll understand!” I hear her sigh; I can practically see her pinching her nose while she tries to stay mad at me. “Sis… I …I found my Mate.” I hear a sharp intake of breath and continue before she can interrupt “Goddess has Blessed me with a second chance…” I don’t have a chance to say anything else because Jenna’s screeching is close to making my ears bleed. I hold the phone as far as possible and allow her to finish her wailing. After another moment the screaming stops, and she starts using words to talk instead of that goddess awful shrieking.” Really J?! I’m so happy for you what is she like Where did you …. Wait... WTF does this have to do with the field trips?! Max is barking laughing in my head “good luck trying to explain this s**t” he barks out clearly enjoying this too much. “so, sis I um.so like I uh Smelled her...?” “And?” she was clearly confused; I can’t say I blame her I’m pretty damn confused myself. more barking laughter as makes howls out “oh this is going so well J” “shut up max you’re not helping” More laughter “I smelled her, kind of, at this school. We think she has pups that go there. I did some umm recon and narrowed it down to 1st and 3rd grade….so I’ve been here greeting and well sniffing the kids…. umm yeah that sounds bad” And max sounds as if he might die of laughter at any moment. I start to ramble hoping to get her to understand why I pissed so much money away on such short notice and without even a word to her. Finally, Jenna cuts me off with a sigh. “Listen J I get it, and I’m not mad at you. BUT you should have told me what was going on! I would have helped I know what a second chance means to you and I haven’t heard your voice so full of life since…” its my turn to cut her off not wanting her to finish her sentence. Today is a happy day I don’t want to think about that day. So, I decide to slip in another apology. “I don’t know why I didn’t come to you. I think I’ve just been freaking out. And I am really sorry I didn’t tell you sissy” yup I’m using our childhood nicknames. I can’t help it. I hate when she’s mad at me! “enough ass kissing you sound like a pup again!” she laughs at me. I laugh with her it’s been so long since I’ve laughed like this. She’s the first to talk. “ok J I trust you have a plan to make up the cost of your little mission?” “Yupp” no, not at all but that’s top of my to do list right under find my Luna. With that word Max howls loudly in my head. Way to give me a headache Max. From her amused chuckle I know she knows that was a whole lie. But she also knows me enough to know I will in fact recover any losses plus some. I can practically see her shaking her head and staring at the phone. “OK enough bullShittin Go find me my new sister and FFS J don’t be creepily sniffing any kids, YOU GOT THAT MAXWELL. I Love you lil bro! good luck” Love you Sis ill call tomorrow” Now I get to laugh at maxwell who has been quiet as a mouse since Jenna yelled at him. I must go check on the final preparations. The buses should be arriving soon.
