6 The Past: Please don’t push me away.

1140 Words
Mystic paced the length of the tiny room Lanarrie had given them to use on the day they arrived. It was a few paces away from the main house on the other side. It was more like a shed than a room. At night it grew cold. But it was better than sleeping under the same roof as Lanarrie and Aria. Here she could breathe and she usually let her wolf out, and gave her a moment to roam around the tiny space, since she didn’t let her out much. But tonight she couldn't let her out. Mystic could feel how much she yearned to go and meet their mate. She'd run out of that room the minute she let her lose. Mystic turned to her sister sitting on the bed. She stared at her with curiosity in her eyes. She probably wanted to know what was happening. Mystic was surprised she hadn’t asked her yet. “I’m hungry,” Mae said, touching her stomach. “Do you think we can go back to the house and find something to eat?” “I don’t know,” Mystic said, chewing on her bottom lip. She turned to the door, thinking about returning to the house. But she was scared of what Lanarrie might do. Earlier he had stopped himself from punishing her, because the prince had seen everything before he walked out. If he hadn’t been there. Mystic closed her eyes, remembering what he did to her the last time. She could barely walk after he was done with her. “I guess we’re sleeping hungry again. I miss home,” she said with a sigh as she lay down on the bed. Mystic felt her heart break. She couldn’t let her sleep another night hungry. She walked to the door, and opened it, but then stopped when she saw someone walking towards the room in the dark. Mystic paused when Lin’s scent reached her. As she came closer, she could see that she was carrying something. “Is that food I smell,” Mae asked, jumping off the bed to stand next to her at the door. “I thought you might be hungry,” she said, handing over the covered plate. “I couldn’t take a lot since father would notice.” “Thank you,” Mystic said, reaching for the plate. She felt tears prickle her eyes. Lin was always nice to her. “You should go back before he notices that you’re missing.” Lin smiled. “He won’t. He is still busy with Aria. He dragged her to his library after he chased you out of the house. They’re going to be in there a while,” she said, smiling a little. She turned and stared back at the house. “You should stay away from the fairy prince. He’ll bring you trouble. Aria can be quite possessive when she believes something belongs to her.” “I will. Thank you for this,” Mystic said. She moved back into the room, and reached for the door. “Goodnight then,” she said, closing the door. She walked to the bed and sat down. She lifted the lid off the plate. Mae stood next to her. And they started to eat. She ate little, leaving the rest for Mae. They finished eating and went to the bathroom attached to the tiny room to clean up. Once they were done, they returned to the room, and got into bed for the night. Mystic wrapped an arm around her sister and held her close. Her breathing slowed as she quickly fell asleep. But she knew she wouldn’t be asleep for long. Mystic stared at the light she had left on. She did that for her sister. She hated the dark, because of the nightmare. It always came like clockwork. Every night she had the most horrific nightmare that brought tears to Mystic's eyes. She dreamt of vampires ravaging their home and hurting their father. Mystic didn’t know how she dreamt of vampires because they'd never seen one. She tightened her arms around her, hoping that she felt safe in her sleep. She closed her eyes and tried to get some rest before her sister woke up. Her sister jerked in her arms a few minutes later. She whimpered and turned around to burrow into her. Mystic held her tighter. “Shhh…I’m right here. No one is going to hurt,” she said, running her hand up and down her back. Mae screamed, crying harder. She squirmed against her as if she was trying to get away. “Shhh, Mae. Open your eyes and look at me.” “He’ll get me. The one with the red eyes. He’ll get me,” she cried, pushing against her. “No. father!” she screamed, before she went limb in her arms. Mystic held her for a few minutes. She cried softly, feeling so helpless. Suddenly, the door was pushed open. And the fairy prince rushed into the room. He looked around the room as if he was searching for a threat. His white hair flew all around him like a white cloud. Gone were his robes, he was now dressed in a loose shirt and black pants. He looked lethal and dangerous. Mystic stared at him, shocked to see him there. “What are you doing?” she asked softly, pulling her sister closer. “I heard a scream. I thought…” he stared down at her. He walked to the bed. But Mystic stopped him with a shake of her head. “Are you alright?” “She was having a nightmare,” she said, ignoring his question. She looked at the open door. Lin's warning was still fresh in her mind. Mystic knew that Aria and her father would do more than slap her if they knew that her fairy prince was there in her room. “You shouldn’t be here. Please leave.” He stared at her for a few seconds before he walked to the door. He paused and then pushed it closed. He turned to her, and for a second he looked sad. He wiped his face with his hand with a groan, sounding frustrated. “I’ve been here for only a few hours, and I’ve already turned two times against my will. I can’t deny what you are to me, he won’t let me, even if I do. So please, don’t push me away. Don’t make this harder than it already is for me,” he said, and then walked out of the room. He closed the door softly behind him. Mystic stared at the closed door. She gulped as his words sank in. But Mystic knew, she couldn't do anything but stay away from him. She couldn't accept him as her mate.
