Evelyn’s breath hitched as the knock on her door finally faded away. She was currently in a myriad of emotions and was unable to ascertain how to react. Her mind was fogged with confusing thoughts and for a moment, she resigned to skipping breakfast as that would save her from the wave of emotions that she was currently trying to avoid. However, she thought of the impression that would create in the heart of the Lycan King and when she realized that it wouldn't be nice, she stood to her feet. She walked into the dining hall that was in absolute tranquility. Her mother and the king were seated, currently lost in a conversation that concerned their wedding. Evelyn rolled her eyes silently, but forced a smile the moment her mother turned to her. “Good morning mum! Good morning, your majesty!” She said as she beamed at the both of them. “Come on! You don’t have to call me with so much respect. I would be your father after the wedding, and it would be pleasant for you to take the title away”, the Lycan King said with a wide smile that caused her stomach to ache. She turned to her mother, with her eyes wearing different emotions. Her mother observed it, but shoved it aside to be as a result of her getting married to the Lycan King. “My sons would be so glad to meet you! I’ve sent for them”, the king informed Evelyn, who shifted uncomfortably where she sat. Her heart was beating frantically, but she only smiled and nodded. Almost immediately, she heard soft thumps of footsteps approaching the dining hall. Even without raising her head, she knew that it was them. “They are here!” Her wolf said in excitement as she jumped around her head. Evelyn blushed slightly, but quickly wore a frown to avoid getting spotted out by her mother. The closer the boys got to her, the more her heart beat rose and the more nervous it became. She could tell that it was the mate bond thing, and so, she didn’t fight it. The four boys took their seats and muttered some greetings to their father. For some reason, their attention was fixated on Evelyn, except Ryan, who was already picking out his plate to eat. The Lycan King caught sight of the three boys who were staring at Evelyn inquisitively and, with a smile, he cleared his throat. “Boys! This is Evelyn; the daughter of your new mother…your step-sister. I’m glad that you now have a sister you all wished to have all these years”, the Lycan King said and immediately, one of the boys started coughing. Evelyn darted her eyes to him, and scoffed the moment her mother passed a cup of water across to him. If only her mother knew how awkward this breakfast time was… “From you right is Ryan”, the King started with the introduction, while Evelyn kept mute like an innocent child who had no idea of what he meant. He was a handsome young man, with gray eyes and full eyebrows that got Evelyn lost in them. Slim and slightly built, with shoulder-length dusty brown hair… Evelyn loved his features and smiled, but quickly wore a frown when she glanced at Ryan. Ryan didn’t bat an eyelid. He didn’t even lift his head to catch sight of his father, who was talking. He only got engrossed with the meal he had on the table. Evelyn wasn’t bothered by that. He had behaved similarly the previous night, and she didn’t expect anything less… “Next to Ryan is Eric”, the king continued with another smile on his lips. Evelyn darted her eyes to him. This one wore a smile and winked at her, causing her stomach to churn in anxiety. He had brown eyes, was slim but more muscular than Ryan. Unlike Ryan, he had short black hair, but Evelyn could swear that she was attracted to him. “And then, Nathan!” The king turned his eyes to look at the young man, who was grinning from ear to ear. Evelyn smiled this time. Nathan was the most friendly from all of them and that gladdened her heart. She looked at Nathan, who was more muscular than the previous two, with a pointed nose and brown eyes, which she got lost in for a moment. He had a glass on his eyes, and that made Evelyn recall that he mentioned having night blindness. “And finally, Blaze!” The King said in conclusion, while Blaze stared at Evelyn with a small smile, which she reciprocated. This one seemed to be the hottest from them all, with a tattoo on his left hand. He seemed quiet, though, and that grabbed Evelyn’s interest for a second. “Hi! I’m Evelyn, and it's a pleasure to meet you all”, Evelyn said as she gulped down hard and settled to start with her meal. She honestly couldn’t say if she was glad to meet her stepbrothers who were her mates, with one of them whom she was yet to confirm his stand. Ryan never spared Evelyn a glance and this pierced her heart. He smelled like trouble and so did her stay in the palace. The moment they discover who she is, there would be great chaos. “I’m so glad that we would be one big family!” The king suddenly broke the silence that seemed to have lingered for a while. Her mother nodded in affirmation as she smiled at Evelyn and secretly gestured for her to cheer up. Evelyn stared at each of the boys, who were silently stealing glances at her and eating their meal. She wasn’t ready to let anyone know that they were her mates, and they seemed to perceive this because none of them divulged the information to their father either. “You can stay here at the palace until it’s the wedding day!” The king said to Evelyn, who flinched and swallowed hard. She nodded after a while. She had no plan of staying at the palace because she wanted to avoid them as fast as she could. “Who knows? Soon enough, you all would find your mates!” The king said and turned to all of them, causing Evelyn to start wheezing uncontrollably.
