ADELAIDE
.
I looked around the hospital room where I had been confined to a bed. I scanned my surroundings and that was when I noticed that I wasn't at home. It wasn't a dream. I was in a strange land.
My heart was pounding loudly and I could feel the intense migraine coming in. This isn't how I intended my day to go. They would kill me if they found out that I wasn't back at the pack. I needed to find my way out of this place.
At that moment, the door burst open and the doctor who has checked on me earlier made his way into my room and walked towards to bed where I was made to rest.
He had this glint of seriousness in his eyes as he flipped through the pages in his hands.
"You seem alright" He blurted out "You went unconscious because you were tired and worn out. I will prescribe some herbs for you to take and I assure you that you would be back to your normal self in no time." He smiled at me and I forced a smile at him as well.
My mind was scattered that so I barely got a word that he said.
"With that being said, you're discharged and free to go."
"Hold on!" I stopped him before he turned to go. I forced myself to sit up straight while I held onto my throbbing forehead.
"Is everything okay?"
"Where am I?" The words rolled out of my tongue before I could stop them. He looked at me as though I've grown a second pair of head. I don't care if he thinks I'm crazy. I was f*****g crazy at this point and loosing my mind.
I fainted at a stupid ceremony, I got rescued by a handsome man whom I later got to find out was my mate, I got rejected by him and now I'm in a strange land in front of a doctor who I had absolutely no idea who he was. And everything happened in less than twenty four hours so why wouldn't I be scared and crazy?
"You are in the Druid pack my dear" He responded conversationally when he noticed the fear and terror in my eyes.
"The Druid pack" I whispered to myself repeatedly "But that's not where I'm..." I trailed off, hoping that the doctor was just messing with me but he was damn serious. He meant every word and I could see the look of pity that reflected in his eyes as he spoke.
"I'm lost" I cried out slowly. "Do you know where the Regene Pack is located? Is it far from here? I need to go back, u have to go back." I looked at him hopefully, waiting for a positive reply.
"The Regene Pack is hundred of miles away from here."
"Can you please direct me?" I asked expectantly. My eyes locked on his "My master would kill me if he found out that I'm not back yet. He would tear me from limb to limb."
"I cannot help you." He brushed me off "You were brought here by the Alpha of our pack and if I get involved with his woman then he will have my head. I'll be in bigger trouble than you are right now."
"What should I do now?" I hanged my head in despair. The tears falling down freely from my eyes. It was over for me and I could tell.
Am I really cursed that no one wants me? How is it that everyone has been rejecting me ever since I found myself in this twisted game of werewolves and Alpha's?
For a moment there, the room was silent. Neither of us said anything to the other. The silence enveloped us like a thick cloud.
"I think I know someone who can help" The doctor spoke up, breaking the thick silence that blanketed the entire room.
I raised up my tear stained eyes to look at him.
"I think you should talk to Eric." He stated firmly.
Eric? Why does this name sound familiar? I'm pretty sure that I've heard it today but where.
"Who's Eric?" I forced myself to ask. Hope shimmering in my voice for the first time ever since I brought in here.
"The Beta of the Druid pack. He's the best friend of the Alpha and if there's anyone who can help you then it's him."
"Where can I find him?" I proceeded to ask.
"I'll write it down for you."
*.*.*
The doctor discharged me after giving me the address of the Beta's house and some medications that he had prescribed for me. He was also kind enough to lend some money for my transportation.
Leaving the hospital, I booked a cab and after giving him the direction on written on the paper, I got in and he took the wheels.
The drive to the Beta's house was silent and for once, I appreciated the silence. It was quiet and I was able to think properly.
When we got to my destination, he pulled up in front of a huge mansion and after paying up, I alighted the cab and made my way towards the gate till I was standing In front of the guards that were assigned to the huge gates.
I got in after gaining clearance from the men at the security.
I noticed the way they were staring at me but i was oblivious to why they were looking at me in that manner.
One had even gone further to tell me that i was a very beautiful woman but I only took it as a compliment.
I thanked him gratefully. I had no idea that he was lusting after my looks. Men would always be men.
I knew that i had curves that would kill and an innocent face that would make a man sin but it was more of a curse but a curse. Despite the fact that i was clad in the most decent of all dresses that they had ever seen, it still didn't do justice to the curves that were hidden underneath. Now I know why Randell was bent on having his way with me.
I walked up to the porch that separated the main house from the servants quarters. The security men had directed me towards this area.
I knocked on the door and an older lady stepped out with an apron tied to her body.
"Hello" the lady greeted with a placating smile "How can I help you?" She asked scanning me from head to toe probably wondering what i was doing here at this time.
"My name is Adelaide Jackson and I'm here to see the Beta of the Druid pack" I explained before showing the papers to the older lady.
She took the papers from her hand and stared at it a little longer.
"Is he expecting you?" She asked, handing the paper over to me.
I shake my head sideways "No he isn't. I was hoping to talk to him. I'm lost and I think that he's the only one who can help me get back to my pack" I said truthfully, hoping that she would buy my story and let me in.
"Come inside" she stepped aside, allowing me to enter. I made my way into the house and I am mind-blowned. The house was also the size of the Alpha Vikson's mansion. What is it with werewolves and extraordinary buildings.
"The Beta is not at home at the moment so I'd advise that you wait for him alright." She informs me and I nodded in understanding.
"Do you want anything to drink?"
"I'm fine thank you" My stomach betrayed me at that moment by grumbling too hard and the older woman chuckled at my efforts of trying to hide my starvation. She wouldn't blame me though. I haven't had anything to eat ever since the ceremony that took place last night. I am as empty as a snake that just shedded his skin.
"I'll get you something alright" She told me before disappearing out if my sight. She didn't give me the slightest chance to protest.
Oh my heavens!
I took my seat on one of the couches as I waited for her.
A while later, the door to the front door burst open and an elegant looking man walked inside. He was clad in a black robe and on his feet were black shiny boots. His fingers were adorned with jewelries and from the way they shone brightly, I could tell that they were damn expensive. He screamed of wealth just by looking at him and his lips were tightened in a deep from. I recognized him from the hospital so it must mean that he was the master of the house.
He turned to look at me and that was when he noticed my presence in the room.
"Who are you?" His thick voice sprang through the air and at that moment, I was tongue tied. I tried to speak but I couldn't.
"It's either you speak or I make you" He threatened and I immediately threw myself at his feet just like I did to Alpha Gabriel.
"My name is Adelaide Jackson, a slave that needs your help my lord" I summoned up courage to speak as I waited ernestly for his reply.
