( At WIC operations quarter )

Ella's POV

''What are we going to do now,'' I whispered

''I'm as confused as you are Ella, I don't know what to make of all this

How did we go from running from creatures and being killed at every turn to being captured by unknown people,'' Alex murmured out

''Alex I'm scared,'' I let out

''Aren't we all, Ella, but all we need to do now is to find our way out of her,'' Alex said

''Alex how is that even possible, can't you see, we are locked up in a cage,'' I screamed

''Shut up!'' Alex screamed

There is no time for your self-doubt or pity party, we need to find a way out of here unless we are dead,'' Alex said with all seriousness in his voice

''Are they going to kill us?'' I asked with fear laced in my voice

''No maybe we could explain the reason why are here on this island, then they might actually help us,'' I said as I tried to look for any possible way to get this negative thought out of my head

''Ella enough... wake up and look around you, we have been captured, and locked up in a cage... what do you think they would do to us,'' Alex screamed in frustration

'' I'm just confused, so what is your plan,'' I asked as the uncertainty set in

I don't really have a plan, but when I do, I need you to follow my led,'' Alex said

''Okay..." I said as I was still very unsure of this whole situation

A few moments later, I heard footsteps coming in our direction and an instant fear gripped me

''Someone is coming, who do you think it is," I whispered towards Alex and before she could answer, I noticed a middle-aged man with jet black hair standing in front of me

He wore a navy blue suit with a black tie and shoes to match, he very composure, intimidating and also control

I raise my head, staring up at his face, and I was taken aback by the scar he has on the left side of this face, staring closely I couldn't miss the disdain look in his eyes as he stared down at us

I wondered who he was, and what he wanted from us, and the most important question that was running through my mind was how he did survive the dreadful creatures of this island

Minutes passed by and he was standing in front of my cage looking down on me

“I really don't know, what is so special about you," he said and I became confused

“I thought there would be more to you, but you are just a simple girl," he smirked and I became even more confused

“Who are you?" I asked

“I don't think it would be necessary, to know my name for now but because I am a gentleman, I would introduce myself to you ladies

“Well my name is Greg and I am the president of the WIC program," the man said out with a proud smile on his face

“The WIC program?" I heard Alex questioning voice say

“Yes we are a group of brilliant minds that keep mystical creatures around the world at bay," he smiled saying

“Okay... Mr Greg do you think we care about your programs and your mystical creatures, all we want is to know why we are here and when you are going to let us go," Alex yelled

The man laughed so hard as if he was mocking Alex's words

“ You have to care because you are part of my program," he smiled and said

“Part of your program what do you mean," I asked and the man smirked as he bent down to look at me

“You are number 1 of 6 subjects brought here for the Hunt," he said and the confusion churned even deeper within me

“What do you mean? I whispered and the man grinned as he stretched out his hand to caress the side of my face

“Relax you would understand soon enough, in fact maybe I should bring in someone else that explains it all for you," he whispered

“Get your hands off me," I groaned as I pushed his hand away from me

Greg smiled devilishly, with his eyes filled with contempt and disdain as he walked away slowly from us

immediately as he left, I quickly turned to Alex asking

“We really need that your plan right now," I said as I feared about the uncertainty that was yet to come

“I am working on it," Alex whispered back and I shook my head, we didn't have that time and I knew it

Silence took over the place again but was immediately overtaken by the sound's of footsteps coming towards us from a distance

I wondered who it was this time, but my stomach turned inside out with shock as I saw the person who was standing in front of me

“Arthur”

I was confused, what was he doing here, I didn't know if I should reach out to him, or restrain myself from him

I wanted to ask him a lot of questions, but right now my lips were failing me

“Ella," he called out my name and that was when I knew that he was truly here

“Arthur was standing in front of me, but how was that possible, or was it still some kind of trick from the island," I asked myself

“Ella say something," he whispered as moved closer to me

“How are you here? did you come looking for me, are you here to save us? how did you know I was here ?" I asked all the questions my lips could allow to ask

And that was when Arthur's face fell in dismay, he looked so guilty that he couldn't even look me in the eyes

“I am sorry, Ella," he whispered and the confusion right now was like a companion to me

“Why are you sorry Arthur, what is happening?" I asked confused

“ I did this... I brought you here," Arthur let out and I froze

“What... no you couldn't have known what this island was truly about," I said as I tried to find excuses for him

“Ella forgive me, but I planned it all, everything was set up to bring you and your friends here," he said as he lowered his head with a sad look on his face

“Arthur f*****g look at me," I cried out and slowly Arthur did as he was told

“ Arthur tell me what I am thinking isn't true," I murmured as tears streamed down my eyes

“ I'm sorry, but it is true, I work for the WIC company, and I am in charge of the hunt," Arthur said

“You and your friends were selected to complete the cycle of 6," Alex said when I stopped him

“What is the cycle of 6," I interrupted him saying

“It is the hunting of 6 people, to complete the cycle to keep the mystical creatures that exist here at bay

you all were supposed to come to this island and be hunted down by these mystical creatures

So when I found out you were this year subject, I thought it would be an easy job like the previous years, but trust me it wasn't.

I didn't plan for it but I fell in love with you, I wanted to stop you from going, I did everything in my power to call the whole program off, but it was too late," Arthur let out

“So you sent us here to died Arthur," I whispered

“ I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, believe me, Ella," he said and Alex screamed all of a sudden

“You didn't mean to right, but now 4 of our friends are gone, you didn't mean to, but you sent your fiance to a strange island just because of some messed up program you had to do," Alex screamed

“ I'm sorry," Arthur said again

“Was everything between us a lie, " I asked out of the blue

“It started that way, but I fell in love with you, Ella," Arthur whispered

“Let me get one thing straight, so you proposed to me just to get me to this godforsaken island," I asked and he nodded with a saddened look on his face

”I knew there was something always fishy about you, but I just couldn't place my hands on it," Alex let out

I took in a deep breath, as I tried to relocate the thoughts in my head, this new truth had broken me to the very core

I couldn't believe Arthur could do this to me, settings me up to die

My heart was racing profusely in my chest, and my hands were shaking due to the nerves

I soon turned to Arthur saying

“Leave..." I whispered

“Ella, please...I am here to help any way that I can, I made sure you were taking away from out there, just to protect you from those creatures," Arthur said and I huffed rolling my eyes

“Oh really, great job Arthur, trying to save me, after killing 4 of my friends," I let out

“Well new flash, if you are seeking redemption now, it is very far away from you

I don't need your help Arthur, because I hate you now with all of my beings

just go, you have done your worst," I let out as I tried to hold back my tears from falling, and with that Arthur immediately stood up and walked away

Hearing his footsteps fade away, the tears I was trying to hold back came rushing down

“ What is wrong with me Alex, am I cursed," I asked as I sobbed loudly

“No Ella you are not, it is just unfortunate that you attract only douchebag," Alex said

“I thought Arthur was the one, the one to give me happiness, after Liam but it turns out he was worst off, at least Liam never set me up to die," I said as I continued crying

“Ella pull yourself together, we need to find a way out of here, we can't allow Arthur and his people to win this, we have to be brave and strong, and even though we don't feel like it

“We have to keep fighting”
