Chapter 29

Ella' POV

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, this couldn't be right,'' I screamed to myself as my body instantly went frozen still to the floor

I blinked profusely trying to convince myself that what I was seeing wasn't true

She can't be here, she is dead... But how do I explain how she was standing in front of us alive and well

''No this is just the island playing tricks on me,'' I murmured as my heart thumped heavily in my chest

''Ella are seeing this as well, or is it only me,'' Alex whispered towards me

''I am seeing it, but how could it be, how could she be here,'' I whispered back

''This is some messed kind of s**t happening right now,'' Alex let out

''What are you saying... can't you guys see this... she came back to us,'' Olivia let out

''Olivia, I don't know what that thing is, but I know is that that thing standing right there is not Mandy,'' I let out with shaking lips because this was beyond anything I have ever seen before

''What do you mean... she is standing right there,'' Olivia let out

'' Yes Olivia, it is me... it is Mandy',' The creature who took the form of Mandy said softly

I could see the joy and excitement on Olivia's face, she was clearly happy that her best friend was back to her

But I knew that it couldn't be her... Even though it talked and looked like her

Mandy was dead, squeezed of all the life left in her and swallowed by a tree

This was clearly the Island's doing, it was playing some kind of sick game on us

Still wallowing in doubt, I soon heard the creature say

'' Guys, it is me Mandy, your friend, why can't you all believe that I am really here. I survived the tree and that was when I came looking for the rest of you,' she let out

''You see she survived... I knew she wasn't dead,'' Olivia said with a huge smile on her face

''Yes I have not died, I survived that dreadful tree... now that's enough with this interrogation come and give me a huge,'' She smiled saying

With a loud chirp, Olivia was about to run up to her when Alex stopped her immediately

''Olivia don't go near that thing, it is the Island playing tricks on us,'' Alex screamed

''No... it's Mandy, she came back to us,'' Olivia let out as she inched closer to the image of Mandy

''Something didn't feel right but I just couldn't place my hands on it, Mandy was standing in front of us and I should be happy about it, I should be excited right? but why do I have this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach,'' I asked myself

''I don't care what you guys say Mandy is finally back to us, and I'm going to give her a hug,'' Olivia said as she inched even closer to Mandy

''Olivia stop, we have to be careful, remember nothing is what it is here on this island, we don't even know what that thing is yet,'' I whispered towards her

''Don't listen to Ella, remember she had always tried to be the boss of us all... Come hug me,'' Mandy let out in a calm voice

''I am sorry Ella I can't listen to you on this one, because you are not making any sense... Mandy survived she is standing in front of us, you should be happy about it, not grumpy,'' Olivia turned to me saying

''Olivia can't you see, if she was real why hasn't she walked over to us yet,'' Alex let out

''I don't care, I am going to bring her over here by myself so you all would see that you were wrong,'' Olivia said as she walked briskly towards Mandy this time

''Olivia no...'' I screamed out as she was about to stretch out her hands to Mandy

But it was too late, Olivia's hands were already in Mandy, and soon the unimaginable happened Olivia was consumed into the creature that took the form of Mandy

After consuming Olivia the creature took its real form, which was scary and disgusting

''NO...'' I screamed trying to run towards the creature but Alex stop me

'' Are you mad what are you trying to do,'' Alex screamed some senses into me

''But Olivia,'' I let out as tears ran down my eyes

''The is no time for tears, we need to run, unless we would be the next people that thing consumes because it is coming after us," Alex screamed as she pulled me along with her

The creature growled loudly as it chased after us with so much vigour

I and Alex ran as if our lives depended on us, well it actually was, because we knew we would die if we stopped, but the creature was relentless it kept on chasing after us like a leopard chasing its prey

''How are going to get away from this thing,'' Alex screamed

''I don't know, it's not going to stop unless it kills us,'' I scream back

'' Come on I have an idea," Alex said and I nodded

Alex diverted deep into woods and I followed suit

''We are going to distract it, then maybe we could lose its trail within the woods," Alex said and we did exactly just that

We tried to distract the creature and it was working, we lost the trail soon enough

After running for a while, we decided to hide inside a little shed we saw in the woods

''Do you think it is still following us,'' I asked and Alex shook her head

''I don't know, but we have to stay here for some time, in order to lose it,'' Alex said and I breathed out heavily

Silence soon took over the atmosphere, and all we could hear was the sounds of our fearful quivers

Amid the silence, I remembered Olivia again, and the tears couldn't help but fall from my eyes

''It is okay,'' Alex let out all of a sudden as if she already knew who I was talking about

''She choose her path, Olivia choose to do, what she did, she fell for the tricks of this places, even after all our warning,'' Alex said as she pulled me to herself

''But it wasn't her fault, anyone could have fallen victims to the tricks of this island,'' I let out crying even more

'' But still, she should have listened, maybe just maybe she could have been here with us,'' Alex said

'' We were six that came here to this island, now there is only two of us left, so tell what are we going to do?'' I asked Alex and she looked at me for a while

She breathed out a struggle breathe as she turned to me saying

''We survive''
