Chapter 39

Arthur's POV

“How dare you interfere in my operations, " I was immediately punched in the face by agent 47

“ Do you think I would allow you to use her, the way you are doing now," I screamed out

“What I am doing is none of your business, I am just doing my job," he said

“She is more than a job," I let out and for some weird reason his eyes showed that he knew that

the look in his eyes was so different to his words and that confuses me but immediately I read through the line

“ You care for her, don't you,' I asked and his face gave him away immediately as it fell in dismay.

“I can see it in your eyes, you care about her, so why are setting her up to die," I asked

“You are the one to talk, you did the same time to her," the agent answered

“But I'm trying to fix it, allow me to fix it," I said

“Arthur I don't care what you want to do, all I care about is that you leave her out of your messed up plan

“ Whether or not I care about her is none of your business, I have a job to complete, so allow me to complete it," the agent said

I levelled my breathing, as I tried to control my anger

“I would rather die than allow you to hurt her," I spat out angrily

“Then Arthur get ready to die because I will kill you myself if you interfere again," the agent said as he turned around and worked out

I was livid, boiling with rage, how dare he threaten me. I was done... that was it, I was never going to allow him to win or even take Ella away from me

I caused all this by bringing her here, but I would not stop until I fix everything that I had caused

it is game on...

Ella's POV

I woke up and Damien wasn't here again, this wasn't the first time he was nowhere to be found early in the morning and I started to wonder why and where he always going to in the mornings

I didn't bother calling out to him, so I seat still, like an angry girlfriend just waiting for him to return

A few hours later, I saw Damien walking in my direction

“Good morning beautiful," he greeted and I ignored him, as I didn't respond to his greetings

I just looked at him for a second, immediately rolling my eyes as I picked up my bags again

“We should keep moving before nightfall gets to us again," I said softly as I started walking, I didn't even pay attention to Damien or what he had to say

Damien did what I said, and started walking as well, but there was this weird and awkward kind of silence between us

we stayed like that for hours , not talking to each other, until Damien decide to break the silence

“Okay that's enough, what did I do wrong," Damien stopped me in my tracks, as he asked me these questions

“ I don't understand what you mean," I let out as I was trying to act oblivious to his questions

“Ella doesn't do this to me, I can not stand you being mad at me, so tell me what I did wrong," Damien said and I rolled my eyes

“ Well if you must, you disappeared again this morning," I said and Damien smirked

“ Is this what all this is about," he chuckled and I rolled my eyes

“Where do you disappear to every morning," I asked

“ Oh Ella, I thought you trusted me , I just went out to survey the area and to also be alone

After Arthur's visit, I wasn't comfortable, so I went out to make sure the place was cleared of any WIC agents," Damien answered

Truthfully, I felt bad that I questioned Damien intentions towards me , I was kind of allowing Arthur's words to get to me, and I hated myself for it

“I'm sorry, I shouldn't have questioned you, you are helping me get through this, and I should be thankful not questioning your intentions," I whispered

“ No you shouldn't apologize, you were only doing what was right," Damien said as he intertwined his fingers in mine , looking deep into my eyes

We were lost in each other's eyes, and so oblivious to everything else around, us that we did not know when a flying creature came at us with a loud bang

“Get down," Damien screamed immediately as he pulled me down before I could even realise what is going on

“ What is that," I asked screaming as I tried to look up at the creatures

“It's called a Quimera, ruthless and also cunning, it feeds on thoughts through the ear, so I best you cover your ears," Damien let out as he continued to keep me low to the ground, protecting me with his body

I was scared beyond words, we hadn't seen a creature in weeks , so why now

I continued to cover my ears just as Damien has commanded , as I prayed none stop for some kind of miracle to save us from this situation

That was when , Damien lit a fire , pointing it directly at the creature, The beast bellowed with rage.

And that was when Damien screamed at me to run

“Move... ran and don't stop," he screamed as pulled me off from the floor as he urged me to do as he had said

“What about you," I let out as I was too scared to leave him at the mercy of the creature

“ Go Ella I would find you," he beckons for me to leave

knowing I had no choice, I did what I was told, running as fast as my legs could carry me

I didn't know where I was running to , the fear and uncertainty within me was enough to make me never want to stop but in all, I hoped and prayed that Damien was all right

Still running until my legs were weak, I finally found a place to hide

finally been able to catch my breath, I still felt like my heart was going to bust out of my chest at any time because of the uncertainty

“Breathe... Ella... Breathe

I tried calming myself down again

I really hoped Damien was okay," I said to myself as I waited for him to find me as he had said

I waited for hours for him to show, but still, he was nowhere to be found

“Maybe he just couldn't find me, as he had promised," I said immediately as I refused to think of anything negative

I continued my wait , until it was dark outside but still he didn't show , and I slowly began to think of worse

“Should I go and look for him, maybe he got lost looking for me," I asked myself but I immediately kicked against the idea

So I continued to wait and wait and wait, for hours on end, that I didn't know when I fell asleep

but I soon I was startled up from my sleep by a cold hand on me

Looking up I breathed out when I saw Damien

“Oh my goodness, thank God it's you," I said as instantly felt calm and relieved that he was alive

“I told you, I will find you," he whispered as he looked at me looking so pale and weak

“Damien you don't look good," I let out, and as soon as I said that Damien fell towards me unconscious

I quickly checked him, and when I saw he was badly injured and losing so much blood

I quickly attend to the wound the best way I could at that time, as I prayed he recovered because the universe knows that I couldn't take another loss

I slept just holding on to him, throughout the night, until the sun rose in the sky again

Waking up I looked at his unconscious, as I checked if he was still alive

Grateful that he was still breathing, I checked on his wound again as I waited for him to regain consciousness

But Hours had passed by and still, nothing had changed, Damien was still unconscious

He was like that even at night fell, and soon he started shivering profusely as he was suddenly burning up with a fear

honestly, I was scared at that moment, I didn't want to lose, I didn't even know what to do

Pulling myself together, I managed to get his fear under control but he was still unconscious

Damien was conscious for two more days, and I prayed every second for him to open his eyes

“Please I think it is time to open your eyes," I whispered towards him

“Don't leave... please we have a plan, and I know I can't do it on my own, please wake up," I continued as I squeezed at his hands urging him to open his eyes

“You can't do this to me, I can't lose another person to this island, I would die if that happens

You know it's strange, that I was sceptical about you at first, but I'm happy I listened to Alex because you are slowly becoming an important person in my life

I don't know how it happened, but what it's for sure is that I can't lose you when I just found you, Damien, I know I should have said it sooner but I think I'm falling in love with you as well, I know it's crazy I shouldn't open my heart to love again after what Arthur did to me, but with you, I just can't help it...

So please wake up because I am not leaving this island without you," I said with tears streaming down from my eyes as I slowly brought my lips to his kissing them softly

Suddenly Damien opened his eyes slowly, and I couldn't be happier to see those eyes of his

“Hey.. thank goodness," I breathed out

Damien smiled at me as he slowly brought his hand's up to the corner of my face caressing it softly

“I think I should play the hero more often, I know getting hurt is no fun but it is worth seeing a look of concern for me on your face," I whispered and I rolled my eyes

“You scared me ... never do that again," I said with a smile on my face

Damien smirked as he managed to seat up this time

“apart from you crying over me, what did I miss," Damien asked and playfully hit him

“That's not funny," I rolled my eyes at him as I hit him again, and Damien wimps in pain

“You are molesting an injured me," he laughed but groaned as the pain got to him

” I'm just glad that you are okay," I whispered as I gave him a hug

I don't know what I could have done if I had lost you too," I let out

“I am not going anywhere Ella, it's me and you against this island okay, we would get through this promise," Damien replied as he kissed my forehead softly.

“ I love you," I murmured so lowly that I hoped he didn't hear me

“What did you say," Damien let out as he pulled me back to look at him

“Nothing..." I replied as was too nervous to say it again

Damien gazed at me so intensely, his eyes showing something I couldn't quite place my hands-on

he soon moved closer to me as he whispered into my ear
