Konrad's POV
Lying in my bed staring at the ceiling, I played many scenarios in my head, especially with everything happening in my love life.
‘Yeah, you are in a relationship with a ghost that always takes advantage of you.’ Dutch sniggered.
‘So you are part of the group that calls her that? I am disappointed in you.’ I said as I switch off the side lamp.
Mom fails to understand my feelings for Gillian and I am going to prove to her how wrong she was about her. But first, she will have to tell me why she spent so much time trying to keep us apart.
‘Maybe you should wait for her to come back before declaring war with your mother,‘ Dutch advised.
‘I guess… you have a point.’ I replied with a sigh.
I met Gillian in Norhill town when my friends and I were checking out a new establishment, Lochlyn club. It rained that night and she was wearing a short, tight, black strapless dress with high heels. I could see because the lighting from the bar was brighter. Her red long hair hung nicely over her shoulders. Its silkiness gleamed with every step she took when she approached our table. Something dangerous in her eyes called out to me and I responded.
‘Yeah, she lied to you saying she was working there only to find out after dating her she targeted wealthy dudes for money.’ Dutch remarked in disdain. ‘I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that she is stuck somewhere with a rich guy.’
‘Fùck off, Dutch.’ I growled and shut him off. It took a while to fall asleep but eventually, darkness became one with me.

It was 5 am when the alarm went off and I slammed it quiet. I groaned as I peeked through a hole I opened on my comforter.
‘Rise and shine, Dum-Dum.’ Dutch laughed, stretching his front paws.
‘That makes you dumb times four.’ I chuckled as I made my bed, then hurried to the bathroom.
I dressed in my sports clothes since I will be in the gym the entire morning with my friend. I grabbed my phone to check if she accepted my request.
‘You are persistent about her.’Dutch sounded astonished.
‘Yes, I am.’ I replied and put it in my pocket. I grabbed a bottle of water, a towel and my car keys.

I drove off and got to the gym, which wasn’t packed as I have expected. Walking through the back where we always spar, I found my future beta waiting with a scowl on his face.
“What kind of alpha will you be if you allow yourself to be this late?” Fetu wasn’t impressed.
I ignored him and went to the locker to put my stuff in. I grabbed the boxing gloves then went inside the ring, ready to fight him. He shook his head in mock amazement and joined me.
“Next time you talk to me that way, I will have to punish your dùmbass.” I retorted with a snarl.
“Let’s see if I can redeem myself.” He smirked.
Fetu and I became close from when his mother brought him to a meeting when we were three, sitting quietly under the table. That’s where I found him and he followed me out. We became best buddies, plus our parents work together, taking care of the pack.
I felt a sting on my cheek and glared at his shiny bald head, watching his fast footwork. “Where was your mind, Alpha?” He mocked, and I rubbed my face.
“I was thinking about those two girls watching us like we are some kind of morning breakfast.” I replied and punched his stomach as he gets distracted. He groaned, and I attacked him repeatedly until I felt my muscle ache. “Focus, Beta.” I tormented as I steadied my breath.
“You sure did cheat, but I will get you next time.” He said, panting.
We walked to the shower room and washed off the sweat. “Don’t worry, I will buy you breakfast.” I told him as I pat his shoulder and left.

We drove to the restaurant down the street. A thick, short female approached us as we entered. “Table for?”
“Two.” Fetu interjected annoyingly.
The server glared at him, then turned her attention to me with a flirtatious smile. “Please come this way.” She purred, and I bit my lip, watching her sway her sĕxy round āss.
“Must you do that always?” Fetu whispered in my ear, shaking his head.
“Is there any harm in admiring?” I replied with a wink, and he rolled his eyes.
We sat on the window table near the door and placed our order.
“So are you ready for your coronation?” He asked as we slide into the chairs.
“I don’t know. I feel like my mother will embarrass me somehow.” I shrugged.
“Finding your mate is the only thing that will silence your mother. Have you ever wondered why she hates Gillian? Where is she, anyway?” He asked, while biting into his eggs.
I took a sip of my coffee. “I have no idea, and it frustrates me because she is always secretive.” I sighed, leaning back in the chair. He nodded, not pressing on the issue.
‘I wonder who she’s with.’ Dutch piped in.
I was about to scold him when the lady I got to learn her name as Maisie came back to our table.
“Do you want anything else?” She asked, sliding a paper in my hand.
“Can you please bring the bill?” I spoke, checking the paper with her number, and slid it into my pocket.
“Dude, you are drooling.” Fetu said, annoyed.
“What time are you knocking off? My friends and I are going clubbing tonight. How about I pick you up?”
‘I wish she says no.’ Dutch growled.
‘No woman could resist my charm, wolf.’ I retorted with a smirk.
“I’ll be off at 6 pm. Call me. I’ll direct you to where I stay.” She replied, then squealed when I pinched her butt.
“Why do you always have to flírt with every fuckíng woman you meet?” Fetu spoke in disgust when we left the restaurant. “And I am bringing Percy and Zacc.” He added and walked to his car.
“You only live once, my friend.” I winked at him as we drive our separate ways.

A week passed by, always doing the same things and meeting with other alphas.
“Son, your mother completed everything for your coronation and I hope you find your mate soon because this role requires you to have your Luna by your side.” He said.
I studied his grey eyebrows crease as he popped his tired fingers.
“I bet she did.” I replied, uninterested.
‘You need to make peace with her. She is your mother, whether or not you like it.’ Dutch chimed in.
‘Keep trying to convince me and I might kill her in the end.’ I snarled.
‘You will need her in one of the good days, I am telling you.’ He scoffed.
“You will not make such disrespectful comments about your mother in front of me.” Dad spoke with authority and I clenched my jaws.
“If we are done here, I would like to leave your office.” I told him, staring into his brown droopy eyes. Just as he was about to respond, Arvin walked into his office and I gladly walked out.
I went to my bedroom to grab my car keys when Isaldina walked into the room.
“Kon, I need to talk to you.” She spoke with a quivering voice.
