Wilona's POV
A week passed since I got into training and I have learned a few of the lessons an Alpha should do. I kicked off the blanket and went to the bathroom for my morning routine. After putting on my sweatpants and t-shirt, I went down the stairs to the kitchen and grabbed my water bottle.
‘Your dad is very strict, if you ask me. He forgets you are his daughter sometimes.’ Aiyana whined.
‘He wants me to be the best and he cannot even see that this whole thing is affecting our relationship.’ I replied as I put on my training shoes at the door and left.
I got to the gymnasium before 4:30 am, found Adam on the treadmill and stepped on the machine next to him. I glimpsed at his exposed, firm chest and swallowed hard.
‘Why did you break up with him if you cannot stop looking at him like he’s some kind of meal?’ Aiyana asked while licking her paw.
‘He was in a hurry to be physical when I told him I wasn’t ready.’ I replied while increasing the volume of my headphones. I was lost in the pop song when I felt a hand patting my shoulder. I twisted off the speed and looked into Adam’s longing eyes as I catch my breath. I pointed at my ears and he stopped talking when I removed my headphones to listen to him.
“I was saying I heard you were in the hospital. Are you okay?” He asked, staring into my eyes.
I avoided his gaze and took a towel to wipe the sweat off my neck. “Yes, and I am fine. Thank you for your concern.” I gave him a modest smile.
Dad walked through the doors with uncle Amedeo who was grinning behind him.
He mouthed, “I am going to kick your butt.”
I somersaulted with glee, but dad gave me a weird look and motioned for Adam and me to come closer.
“Okay, Amedeo will fight you in his human form and Adam with his wolf.” He barked, and I gulped the contents of the bottle I was holding in my hand and threw the empty container aside as I prepare myself.
Uncle Amedeo stood in the middle of the fighting ring with his tattooed arms over his chest. I circled him, hoping he will go at me first. He likes to act childish just to annoy my dad, and it always works.
“Amedeo, stop fooling around and do what needs to be done.” Dad’s irritated voice boomed in the hall.
‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ Aiyana enquired with suspicion.
‘I don’t know, but we should not undermine his thinking. We can try to throw in some few punches.’ I said with a shrug.
His eyes flickered. Seemingly, my dad bothered his wolf. I took the opportunity and jumped at him. But he swiftly whirled himself around and avoided my kick. I flipped in the air, aiming for his chest. He crouched low and grabbed my leg and slammed me on the ground.
‘Ouch, I did not expect that.’ Aiyana whimpered.
I fell facedown but landed on my palms with a grunt, watching him through my lashes, breathing hard.
“Nice move.” Dad spoke with the clap of his hands.
Uncle Amedeo folded his hands into fists, mischievously smiling at me.
“Stand up sunshine.” He said with a breath.
I jumped to my feet and stared at him as he circle me. He punched me on my sides repeatedly. I used my arms to block him, then noticed his left side was open, and I went for it and kneed him on his hard abs and spin kicked him. He exhaled, watching me with wide eyes. “Sunshine can turn into thunderstorm on a hot day.” I taunted.
Our sparing became serious to the point where dad had to intervene.
“That’s enough Amedeo.” He roared, stepping into the ring.
I was lying on the ground with my arms blocking my face, panting.
“Are you okay?” He asked, and I breathed a yes. “That’s my sunshine.” He said, then walked to the corner to wipe his face.
“In an hour, you will fight Adam’s wolf. Get cleaned up and rest.” Dad said, then left.
‘Damn, you look worse than your uncle.’ Aiyana mocked. I chuckled, then closed my eyes as her healing warmth spread through my injuries.
“Gamma Amedeo is a vicious fighter. Whose idea was it to allow him into the ring with you?” I opened my eyes, meeting Adam’s curious ones.
“I did.” I flinched when he lifted me from the ground. He carried me to the first aid room near the entrance.
Then placed me nicely on the table and wiped my swollen cheek with a disinfectant gel. I watched him shake his head in a mock grin. “You are one brave young woman.” He chuckled.
We went into an awkward silence until he finished and spoke. “So, how have you been?” He asked shyly.
I heaved a sigh because I haven’t seen him for three months. “I have been busy with dad.” I replied with a grunt as I sat, letting my legs dangle on the table. He sat next to me, fidgeting with his fingers, until Edgar walked into the room, interrupting him from whatever he was going to say.
“You should be careful with her wolf. I almost lost my hind leg when I was fighting her few days ago.” He chuckled, watching us then creased his forehead. “Who died?” He looked between Adam and me.
Edgar is the warrior guarding my father. “Don’t answer that. Alpha Kai is waiting in the field for the two of you.” He told us, then left.
I stretched my arms, then looked at Adam. “Don’t mind him.” I said, then walked out of the door before turning my head back. “Are you not coming?” I said and strode out of the gymnasium.
‘The weather is pleasant today. At least I will have to fight him how dad wants.’ Aiyana told me. ‘Don’t worry, I won’t kill him.’ She retorted with a laugh, sensing my worry.
Adam came after me, and we shifted into our wolves. I gave Aiyana full control.

Aiyana's POV
I felt my fur being blown by the mild wind cascading the open field. My paws pounded on the ground as I walk towards Ace, Adam’s light brown wolf. I licked my paw, getting ready for my exercise, but he surprised me by jumping at me. I crouched low, letting him fall. I rumbled, then skipped on him, grabbing his fluffy tail with my teeth. My head shook from side to side and slammed him to the side. He yelped and rolled off, getting his momentum. I took the opportunity and pounced at him, my paw connected with his muzzle. He growled and scratched my belly with his paw. We rolled, snipping and nibbling with heavy growls.
‘Use less stamina, Aiyana, otherwise you will be tired before long.’ Dad’s voice rang in my mind and I barked in response. We went on it, dodging and attacking each other. Until dad said it was enough.
‘You are getting stronger, sugar.’ Ace mind-linked me, grinning.
‘Ew.’ It was enough for me to give Wilona back control.

Wilona's POV
I took a lungful of mild air into my lungs after shifting in my human.
‘Can you believe Ace called me sugar?’ Aiyana whispered, making me laugh. ‘Keep it to yourself.’ She quickly shut our link, probably hiding.
Our pack doesn't have restrictions with mind-linked. We are all linked and communicate only when it's necessary. There are rules and regulations for it, anyway.
After showering at the gymnasium cubicle, I put on my clothes and walked out of the room.
“Can I have a moment with you?” Adam’s voice rang through the passage.
His wet black hair hanging over his monolid blue eyes. “I will give you two minutes. I need food.” I told him as I strolled next to him, going outside the gym, breathing in the fresh air. I gazed up at the sky. “It looks like it’s going to rain tonight.” I said, and he nodded.
“I know you said you didn’t want a relationship but... Damn, I missed you and there is never a moment that passes by without thinking of you.” He spoke, making me stop and stare into his nervous eyes.
‘If I wasn’t rooting for our mate, I was going to tell you to go for him.’ Aiyana kept control of her desire to laugh.
‘I don’t want a mate and I hope you don’t repeat those words again, sugar.’ I snorted.
He came closer and leaned his forehead on mine. My breath caught and closed my eyes for a moment.
“Adam.” I whispered when I felt his lips touches mine with his breath fanning my nostrils. He hummed his answer. “We can’t do this. I am sorry.” I tried to convince myself as I pull away and looked up into his disappointed eyes.
“At least let me take you out on a date, for old time's sake?.” He asked, his blue eyes shining with fear of rejection.
‘Going out on a date will not kill you, you know.’ Aiyana joked.
‘You are one nasty wolf.’ I laughed.
“Okay, I will pick you up tonight at 6:30 pm.” I answered. He pecked my cheek and walked away.
I heaved a sigh, shaking my head from side to side, then sprinted home. I urgently needed to call Zara.
