Konrad's POV
Isaldina closed the door, and I watched her stomp to the mini bar fridge, taking out a tray of ice cubes. She sat on my bed, popping one into her mouth and crushed it with her teeth. I shivered, watching her swallow.
“Isal, don’t you think it’s a little unusual to be eating frozen water like a hungry shark? What made you so worked up to even consider torturing your molars like that?” I asked, pointing at the tray in her hand.
She chewed slowly, looking down at the almost empty tray. “I have a craving and they make my body cool down.” She told me, then burst into a sob.
I checked my phone, then stared at her, shaking with sobs. Then groaned and walked to her. I took the tray out of her hand, placed it on the table, and embraced her. “What happened?” brushing her silky hair.
She sniffled and stared at me with her teary eyes that looked like she hadn’t slept for days. “Richie wants to marry me next weekend.” She snorted, wiping off her tears.
“Then why are you being emotional about it? I thought you would be happy to be out of dad’s sight.” I brushed a brown strand of hair from her light blue eye.
‘I am surprised you don’t get bothered by her cute chubby face that looks exactly like your gorgeous mom.’ Dutch chuckled.
‘She is my sister, damn it.’ I growled, sensing his playfulness.
“I am pregnant, Konrad, and haven’t told him yet.” She blurted out.
“Are you fuckíng kidding me?” I snarled.
‘That was to be expected.’ Dutch spoke casually.
She gave me a shy smile. “Can you please call him to our pack and help me to tell him?” Her hands covered her face in embarrassment.
“The only thing I will help you with is to teach him a lesson he will never forget.” I clenched my jaws as I peered through the clear curtain, looking in the direction of his pack.
“Konrad, no teaching lessons here. I am not in high school anymore. Besides, he loves me and I only need your moral support in this.” She swatted my arm playfully and sauntered to the door, but stopped. “You seem distracted. Are you okay?”
Here I am thinking I was soothing her and yet she was observing me. “Nah, I am good.” I waved my hand dismissively. She mumbled okay, then left.

I took out my phone and called Richart.
“Hey, Konrad.” I heard him chuckle.
“Hey, can we meet in town in two days?”
“You never asked me over with that tone. Is Isaldina okay?” I heard his wavering voice.
“She is, well, behaving a little strange, and that’s what I need to talk to you about.” I sighed.
“I will be there this evening.” He hung up and I let out an exaggerated sigh, sliding my phone into my pocket and left.

It was just after 5 pm, standing near the window in the living room when Richart’s sports car stopped in the driveway. I watched him hurry out and gave the scout his keys to park it for him.
“Are you sure you want me to be here?” I whirled myself around, looking at Isaldina nervously rubbing her knees.
“Yes, and please behave.” She pouted.
There was a knock on the door. “Come in,” I yelled out.
“Hey, sweetheart.” Richart enveloped Isal lovingly in his arms. Then lifted his eyes at me. “Konrad.” he squinted his eyes before shifting his gaze to her.
“Konrad said you are not well, but all I see is a beautiful radiant glow, fiancée.” He said as he sat down with her.
She glared at me just as the housekeeper walked in with a glass full of crushed ice. “I thought I told you not to eat these things, Isal.”
“What the hell is going on here? Am I missing something?” Richart interjected.
“I am pregnant.” She exclaimed, lowering her eyes to her knees.
Silence fell in the room before he registered what she had just said. “W-what d-did y-you say?” He stuttered, jerking back a little from her.
“Her egg and your spėrm created a pup in her, you fùcker.” I snarled, flaring my nose at him.
“Whoa, I am going to be a dad.” He jumped up with Isaldina in his arms. “We are going to be parents.” He kissed her, and I averted my eyes, walked out of the room giving them privacy.

‘You handled that like the big brother you are. I am so proud of you, though I wish you punched him.’ Dutch piped in, wagging his tail in excitement.
‘Believe me, I was tempted.’ I clicked my tongue and opened my car and got in. Before turning the ignition on, a blood boiling mind link got through my mind.
‘Konrad, come inside. Mom is having a fit.’ Isaldina’s shaky voice rang in my head.
‘I am coming.’ I growled, getting out of my car and rushed back inside the house.
“What is wrong with you? Are you that gullible to allow yourself to get pregnant?” I heard mom’s bitter, high-pitched voice coming from the living room.
“Mom, I...” She slapped Isaldina with the back of her hand. Making her fall on the floor, stunning her into silence.
My eyes blurred with crimson as I moved in a flash and grabbed her throat with my hand, lifting her up.
“Konrad, please don’t kill her.” I heard Isaldina’s pleading voice behind me.
I glared angrily at mom trying to remove my hand from her throat. “KONRAD!” Dad’s growl reverberated through the room, shaking the walls.
I dropped her and glared at her, coughing on the floor. Dad pulled her up and held her close to his chest. “What the hell is going on in here? And why did you strangle your mother?” He roared.
“She wasn’t being a mother to Isal.” I spoke through my gritted teeth.
“Isaldina is pregnant, Ross.” She breathed the words as she took the glass of water a server brought.
Dad looked between Isal and Richart, flabbergasted. “Is this true?” He asked with wide eyes. Taking every aspect of the news.
“Yes dad, Richart and I are expecting our first pup and…”
“You are disgusting, Isaldina. Didn’t I tell you to be Luna first before letting him between your thighs?” My mother asked Isal.
“What is wrong with you? Why do you have to be so mean to us? Are we even your children?” I asked, feeling my blood boil in anger.
She scoffed, opening her mouth when dad growled a warning. “That’s enough!”
There was silence in the room until Isaldina broke it. “I will leave first daylight tomorrow and you will never see me in this house again.” She spoke with a grimace. “Let’s go, Richart.” She yanked his hand and marched out of the room. Leaving me with mom and dad watching them walk away without stopping her. I clicked my tongue, then sprinted out of the room.
‘I am still shocked that you strangled your mother.’ Dutch slumped onto the floor of my mind, placing his muzzle on his paw in astonishment.
‘She deserved it.’ I replied with a scowl.
“Isaldina, you can’t be this angry towards your mother. Please, darling.” I heard Richart plead with her.
“What do you know, hmm? My mother has been mean not to just me but to Konrad too. It’s like when we do things she doesn’t agree with, she verbally taunts us.” She sighed.
I stood at the door watching her throw her stuff in bags. “Richart, can I talk to her for a moment?” I asked, staring at Isal.
“Fine. I will call my parents to inform them about the new arrangements.” He kissed her forehead and rubbed her flat belly lovingly.
As soon as they closed. “Isal… are you sure about leaving?” I asked, while walking to the window. Gazing at the evening sky before looking back at her.
“I am tired of always defending myself in this house. Dad is tolerant, but mom.”
“She is the pain in the ear.” I finished her sentence.
“Yeah, that can also work. But I think it’s best if I go. This precious gift Richart gave me needs me to be clearheaded and stressfree.” She brushed her lower abdomen with a joyful smile.

After saying my goodbyes to Isaldina and Richart, I took my car keys and drove to Fetu’s place.
“Only your mom can give you that scowl on your face.” Fetu spoke as soon as I got to his kitchen door.
“Let’s go for a run.” I took off my jacket and shoes, placing them on the chair he was sitting on next to the door before I got here.
“Plus, Afa hasn’t played with Dutch for a while now.” He took off his shirt.
We shifted and sprinted through the dense forest. The sky was clear with stars brightening the horizon. The air was damp and hot. I let Dutch take control. I watched him dart through the grass, ducking and diving, while Afa was trying his best to catch up. We got to the edge of the cliff overlooking the sparkling water of the lake, seeing spots of lights coming from the houses. We let our wolves hunt and shared a kill in comfortable silence.
