Chapter Nine

1183 Words
Katie. I spent the whole night crying and bawling my eyes out, at one point I took a book and a pen and wrote the hateful words I wanted to say to him and also things I wanted to do with him— so many bad things. I didn’t know the time I slept but when I woke up the next morning it was nine thirty am and I was super late. My boss was going to have my ass for coming late for the fifth time in a month. I got up sluggishly and made my way to the tiny bathroom in my room. My house was so small but it was okay to me, this place was my little heaven. This was the only place I held memory of my family and I wasn’t going to leave this place anytime soon. I stepped out of the bathroom feeling refreshed a little, but the pounding headache was still there. I didn’t take much time and I was done putting my dress on. It wasn’t an expensive one, it was just plain jeans and a T-shirt I got in a thrift store. I picked up my broken phone from the bedside and picked up my handbag before rushing out. Immediately I stepped out of my house, I bumped into a hard chest and groaned, I rubbed my forehead before looking at the huge wall before me. “I’m sorry.” I apologize and the only answer I got was a glare from the mighty man. I left him after apologizing without waiting for him to say anything, I was late and I didn’t have the time to dally. I brought my phone out and looked at the time. “s**t!” I’m definitely getting fired today. I ran like my ass was on fire without paying mind to the head-splitting headache bothering me. I don’t have any money for taxi fare, the last money I had was spent on the damn gift I bought for that asshole and now I’m broke. A few minutes after running I let out a breath of relief when I saw the place where I worked big banner before me. I smiled softly, wiped the sweat off my face, and walked inside. My eyes looked around for the sight of my boss, and another sigh left my mouth when I didn’t see him. Slowly I walked in and my colleague at the counter, Jessica, who quickly saw me waved her hand for me to come over. “You’re late again Katie.” I winced at her loud voice. “I know, I slept off late and didn’t wake up on time.” We both said at the same time. My cheeks turned red when I saw that I had been busted. “Try to come up with a new lie Katie, this is getting old.” She rolled her eyes. “Is the boss in?” I asked looking around again for the umpteenth time. Jessica snorts, “You’re in luck today Miss Katie, the boss decided to come in late today also.” This time my racing heart calmed down, and I was finally able to breathe in freely. My boss was an old asshole who always likes picking on young girls like myself for his selfish pleasure. He had this fetish for touching his workers'—especially women—hands and body when he was reprimanding them or even speaking with them. “Thank goodness.” I plumbed on the seat beside her and watched as she attended to the next customer. We didn’t say anything until she was done, “Thank you for choosing Roman’s place, hope to see you another time.” She recited our motto to the customer with a bright smile on her face which the customer reciprocated. Jessica was a tall woman with a nice curve and a beautiful face. The one thing I loved about her was her hair, her hair was black and curly which I love playing with anytime I was less busy. Her smile was also beautiful and that was what made us friends without even trying. “Earth to miss Katie.” She clicked her fingers before my eyes and I blinked. “Sorry,” I apologized and looked at her, “Did you say something?” She hummed and took the sit beside me, “Yeah, I asked what kept you up this time?” I groaned, of course, Jessica would like to know what happened. She wasn’t one to keep quiet and would ask and even after asking, she made sure she got her answer. “Uhm…..is that really necessary Jess?” I asked, dropping my bag on the counter. “Of course it’s. How am I going to know what happen if you don’t say anything? Now give me all the juicy information about last night? Tell me did you guys do it?” I cringed at her question. Oh god, not this! I wasn’t ready to face this, not this morning. “I don’t want to talk about it, Jess,” I said dismissively and got up to go keep my bag at the workers' lodge. I opened my locker and brought my company’s t-shirt out, put it on before going back to the counter. On my way back I prayed Jessica shouldn’t pry more into this matter, I don’t want to talk about it and if I did I wasn’t sure if I would be able to work today. My aching head was already a sign, I didn’t want more. I stepped into the counter and took my seat, I was glad there were no customers to attend to. I looked at Jessica who was busy typing on her phone and smiled sadly, she is always on the phone with her boyfriend. As soon as I made to place my throbbing head on the counter desk, Jessica dropped her phone and looked at me. “Okay now that you’re back, tell me what happened last night. Was Tyler surprised to see you or you were the one surprised instead when he shifted your womb with his big dic….” I covered her mouth before she could utter more dirty words. Jessica was right though, I got surprised last night instead of surprising the birthday boy. “You better tell me b***h,” she said after successfully taking my hand off her mouth. I shook my head, “I can’t talk about last night, not now Jess.” She snorts. “You better tell me now if you want any peace today Katie.” She warned, her brown eyes piercing into mine. I groaned and ruffled my hair, Jessica wouldn’t stop asking questions if I didn’t tell her what happened last night. She was persistent as f**k and would continue buzzing around you with her questions until she gets her answers. Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath, I told her everything that happened last night without leaving anything out. “What!!” She yelled. I groaned, here we go again.
