Chapter Ten

Katie. “What!” Jessica yelled and I was forced to cover her mouth with my hand before she would gain the attention of the customers shopping. “Keep your voice down, Jess.” I chided while glaring at her. She forcefully took my hand off her mouth and glowered at me. “What? You do not expect me to keep quiet when you just tell me something this big?” She folded her hands under her boobs. “What did you do?” She suddenly asked, throwing me off the bus. I looked at her not getting what she was asking, “What do you mean?” “I mean, what did you do when you found out that the jerk was cheating on you? I mean you walked up on the doing it right?” I nodded. “So now tell me what you did?” She ordered. Well, I didn’t know what to say. Telling Jessica that I didn’t do anything other than crying and more crying would be the same thing as me digging my own grave. So I did what was best for me, I kept quiet and looked around the shopping mall like I didn’t hear what she asked. “Oh b***h, you better not tell me that you didn’t do anything.” She screamed again almost bursting my eardrums with her loud voice. I still didn’t say anything even after she’d gotten the answer right, I mean what was there to say? I got cheated on by my boyfriend on his birthday and what was she expecting me to do? Was she expecting me to beat the hell out of his nightstand or punch Tyson in the face? I wasn’t going to do any of that, I wouldn’t fight because of a man, and besides what if I got a police notice after fighting with them? I don’t have the money for any settlement. “You don’t dare to space out while I’m speaking with you b***h! You better tell me you at least did something to him before leaving last night?” “Oh god Katie, you’re too soft. Oh, how I wish I was with you last night.” She said and let out a sigh while I shudder. I don’t want to think what would have happened if Jessica had been with me last night. She was a small ball of fire and most times I do wonder how her boyfriend coped with her all day. She had a lean figure but trust me you do not want to mess with Jess, she’s what I call small but mighty. “I would have grabbed that joystick he’s so good at using to cheat on my friend and give him the most beautiful handjob he has ever gotten in his life.” She had a far-away look and an evil grin as she pictured what she would have done to Tyson. “Okay, that's enough now Jess. It's done now, I guess Tyson isn’t the one for me. I won’t do anything that will cause me more trouble, so please let this go.” I begged and held her hand. Her palms were soft compared to my hard ones. Jessica let out a frustrated breath before pulling me into a hug, “hey are you okay?” She asked tenderly rubbing my back. And I had to blink my eyelashes to stop the tears from coming out, I am not going to begin another round of non-stop crying. Tyson was an i***t who thinks with his d**k rather than his brain and I won’t cry for someone as foolish as him. “I am now.” I dropped my head on her shoulder as I basked in her warmth. “I see, so this is how you girls run my business right?” The ever-familiar grouchy voice of our boss spoiled our hug. “I swear I will kill this man today if he says anything out of point,” Jessica whispered in my ear as she pulled from the hug. I tried my best to smile or laugh because doing that was the same thing as getting fired. “Good morning Mr Cory, you look lovely today.” Jessica greeted smiling flirtatiously at him. Mr Cory's smile brightened as he gave himself a look, “You think?” He asked, pulling on his tie and posing in a sexy way. Jessica's laugh filled my ears, “I don’t think, I know of it Mr Cory, you looked so good this morning that I may mistake you for the new Jason Momoa.” I cringed at that. There was no way this fat big-belied and short man looked anywhere near my Jason. He looked more like a troll than a man as handsome as my Jason. “Well thank you, Jess, always flattering me every day huh.” Jessica shrugged with a smile, “What can I do Mr Cory, you are just too handsome for me.” She forced one of her brightest smiles for him and the womanizer couldn’t even tell it was fake. “Thank you, Jess,” his eyes moved to me and I straightened in my seat. “I hope you didn’t come in late again today Katie?” He asked with displeasure. I shook my head negatively but then remembered that I was speaking with my boss and not a customer, “No Mr. Cory, I was as early as Joshua.” I smiled at him. He stared at me skeptically, of course, this was hard to believe. Joshua was the one who earned the worker of the month seven times in a row, he came as early as seven when the counters were being stocked and left late. So, telling my boss that I came at the same time as Joshua was unbelievable. “I will see if you’re trying to trick me, Katie,” he took his eyes back to Jess and his face brightened. Talk of someone being a womanizer. “Thanks for the compliments Jess, I’ll see you later.” He winked at her then turned on his heels to leave. Jessica and I looked at his little ass leaving before bursting into boisterous laughter. This was so funny. “He thinks I’m complimenting him. Compliments my foot.” Jessica spat out. I smiled at the cunning way Jess used to divert his attention, I guess my morning would go well after this. But who was I kidding, as soon as I brought my head up my eyes connected with ones I was familiar with. Jessica saw me distracted and turned to see who the newcomer was and as soon as her eyes fell on him, the smile on her face wiped off. “What the f**k are you doing here?!” She yelled and I practically had to cover my ears.
